Re: Talking Point: Splatoon 2 is Set to be a Vital Early Arrival on Nintendo Switch

It's cool. I overreacted a bit and I apologize for that. My thought process on the whole matter concerning who I consider to be trolls is that if you're going to act like a PMS-ing, midol-popping, estrogen-filled little insert funny profanity-replacing word from Joeynator3000 here then the least you can do is own it. Embrace your nature. But really I have nothing against you and again I apologize for popping of like that. Good day to you too.

Cute comment. But, not that it's any of your business, I do actually reply to most of the comments directed at me. And I don't say they're trolling just because their opinion is different from mine or even because it's negative. I call them out for trolling because when a report about nintendo comes out that's generally negative, they're usually front and center bashing nintendo and anyone defending nintendo. But if the report is positive then they're usually nowhere to be seen or their comments are half-baked attempts that extremely neutered. That's what makes them a troll in my opinion and I'm going to call them out on it every single time.

"I could care less if the Nintendo Switch has the web browser or any of those other apps like youtube, netflix, etc. Apps I never used on my game systems to begin with.
Game Systems are meant for gaming. If I buy a game system I buy it purely for the games.
We already have a computer at our house. The web browser on both my wii u & 3DS I don't even use.
Glad Nintendo is making the Nintendo Switch like the older system's were there getting back to actual gaming. How it use to be. Like NES, SNES, N64, etc.
We didn't need the web browser & other apps on the older game systems. I don't understand why its a big deal now...
Happy Gaming! (^_^)"

This guy gets it. +1

@electrolite77 "and instead purchase another device that plays games and does a lot more."

The only devices that play games and do a lot more are the ps4/xbone. Because you're not going to get console quality games out of the tablets that are available today. Unless you count clash of clans and candy crush as viable options but then that would make you a casual and your opinion moot.

No what I'm saying is that people already have a phone and tablet. Plus when tablets starting coming out and we're online capable, there wasn't a huge decrease in phone sales or a trend of people leaving their phones at home and opting to just take the tablet with them. So why would that change if the switch had a Web browser and could stream videos? It wouldn't and if it did have those features, people would still being other devices with them. This is a non issue.

How many devices does one need to browse the Web or steam videos? A smartphone will get the job done. So by my count that's 2 devices, a phone and the switch. But this whole argument is ridiculous because right now people carry around a phone and a tablet and both are possible devices that can access the Internet so why would that stop happening just because a dedicated video game console has a Web browser?

@PlywoodStick
You're right it is a mobile device, one that is dedicated to playing video games, thus it's a video game console. In marketing so far the message has never been that the switch is a tablet or even a tablet-like device. The wording is always "home gaming console you can take anywhere". It doesn't matter what it looks like, what matters is what it's core function is. And that's playing video games, not being a multimedia device. Oh and by the way, you spelled "sandwich" incorrectly. Nice try on being clever though.

I'm sure that's how you see it but anyone with just a little bit of sense can tell that what you said is complete BS. And I can prove it. When a new report comes out about the switch that is generally negative, you're front and center ridiculing nintendo for it and blasting anyone who tries to defend them. But when there's a positive report about nintendo you're either nowhere to be seen or your comments are extremely neutered. Why is that? Why only show up for the negative but then completely ignore all the positive? It's almost like you need others to dislike nintendo to somehow validate your dislike of them. You can deny all you want but that's how it looks, and that's just sad.

@Randomlight
I really doubt that. Nowhere in all the marketing of the switch have they conveyed the idea that the switch is a tablet-like device. It's always referred to as a home/portable console that strictly plays video games. Their 1st reveal trailer made that clear right from the beginning and it was only 3 minutes long. And every bit of advertising after that stayed with that same message.

@shani "FYI: There are attachable controllers for tablets and they're also Nvidia Shield. But as mentioned before, the controllers don't define a tablet. And the Switch's controllers are detachable as well, they're not a fixed part of the device."

And that's where my point is made. A tablet can be played on with nothing else but the tablet itself with controllers(if there are any) being completely optional. So far everything shown about the switch indicates that the controller is essential, whether that's joy-cons or a pro controller. Therefore it's not simply a tablet. It emulates the look of a tablet, but just calling it tablet is incorrect.
