@Funny_Moblin Yeah, like the original donkey kong country returns for wii, you could play it nes style, with the minor gimmick of shaking the remote for specific actions, nothing too shabby and unnecessary, just playing it old school would suffice and that was one of the best games on the wii. Like you say, why force the gamepad for something unnecessary here?

@Haywired It's just that I'm not really into touch screen controls, there are some minor exceptions like the zeldas for the ds, where you controlled link with the stylus or kirby canvas curse, which to me is the best touch screen based game ever, but even mentioning that, I'm old-fashioned, I prefer physical controls.The touch screen in the gamepad is pretty nice, but to say the reason people aren´t gonna get some games like this that are masterpieces due to the fact that they don't fully support the gamepad is ridiculous from my perspective. I don't really mind if a game uses it or not, I simply prefer when they delegate simple stuff to the touch screen, an example would be ocarina of time 3d, its use is for maps and items, that's it.

Really? Shadow dragon? That shallow piece of crap that got me wondering what the hell happened to the awesomeness of the gba titles? You have the other advance wars masterpiece: dual strike or even pokemon conquest if you want a good strategy game, but shadow dragon, the game that betrayed the premise of the franchise by literally entering the gaiden chapters by killing off several of your units whereas in the gba titles it was SUPER MEGA HYPER DUPER IMPORTANT to keep 'em alive so your survival score didn't drop to the ground? THAT SHADOW DRAGON?

What's with all the butthurt about the gamepad not being used? Get over it people, it looks like a fantastic game nonetheless. The gamepad is a pretty neat gimmick, but its main use is for off-tv gameplay, that's it, everything else is an extra.

@allav866 I hear ya, even castlevania when it adopted the metroidvania style didn't attempt to embarrass itself by completely doing a copy/paste of everything that was done in previous metroid games, konami figured out a way to make it work without ripping off the other franchise.

Bloody hell, when they said metroid-inspired they really meant cheap metroid clone, the intro is the EXACT one as metroid fusion, when samus arrives at the space station just to find that the x parasite killed and assimilated all the staff there. Jesus freaking christ, at least try something new or different, even the freaking lead character is a deformed samus aran model.

Learn from Yuji Naka, one of sonic's creators, who wanted to create the sonic game because he didn't think super mario bros. was fast enough. A simple idea of wanting more speed in a videogame resulted in the creation of a legendary franchise.

This isn't inspiration, this is just plain PLAGIARISM.

Subspace emissary was long, tedious and repetitive in every single way, the only redemption it had were the cutscenes which are amazing and since sakurai has stated that the cutscenes will serve as character intros instead of being in story mode, there is no point in having the return of the boring subspace.

Lipstick for men is one of the funniest things I ever saw on that show; but yeah, back on the topic, it's a real shame nintendo's letting star fox and f-zero die without the opportunity of having a new game. I love mario and zelda, but I would trade a new game starring mario or link just to see a new game by either franchise or even a new metroid game for the 3ds, the last time we saw samus aran on a new adventure was 4 years ago, COME ON NINTENDO, WAKE UP!!!!

@R-Moss I played path of radiance and radiant dawn, which were mediocre at best in gameplay terms, also shadow dragon was a piece of crap, so awakening being the worst ever? I simply laugh at your comment.

@Shambo I agree, mario is the star of several games, let luigi have his own series, or at least rename it LUIGI AND MARIO'S MANSION, since the man in green is the star.

I don't know why the hell Nintendo keeps ignoring metroid, f-zero, star fox, mother, ice climbers, among other ips. I love mario and zelda, but it would be awesome if they announced something related to those franchises, not everything has to be related with the italian plumber or the hylian warrior; well, at least they revived donkey kong and kid icarus, IT'S SOMETHING.

It's funny how a lot of people think the wii u has already lost the console wars for things like this. Nintendo showed their true colors with the wii u when super mario 3d world was unleashed, it was everything I expected and far more, nintendo isn't going anywhere soon.

Funny thing is, there was one game that caught my eye when the xbox one was released, and that was crimson dragon, a game that looked really good, even though I dislike the xbox one, and in the end, the game was garbage, meaning that not everything that shines is gold; yes, the newer consoles are pretty powerful and all, but that doesn't mean nintendo lost for that reason, far from it.

Just look at the ps vita, it was marketed as the definitive portable console that would revolutionize the market and put nintendo to shame and tears, where is it now? having the lamest of all times, completely ignored by sony and I don't even know a person that has one yet I know like 20 people or more that have a 3ds.

That's the bright side nintendo will always have, that somehow, they sacrifice power on their consoles for awesome experiences with their games, and even with that in mind, they somehow achieve impressive visuals, just look at A LINK BETWEEN WORLDS, a beautiful game despite being a portable experience.

In 10 years people will be discussing this very same topic over a game that will be released on the xxxbox and the ps999 but not on the miyamoto3000, and again, people will be having this same argument in that time, claiming that yeah, nintendo will fall soon, pretty soon.

What a time that'll be.

@Mr_Nose There's an app on the eshop that allows you to extract your data from the game card to the sd card on the 3ds console for cases like the one you mentioned, it's called CARD TO SD SAVE, or something like that.

Starfy's gonna come back as an assist trophy once again, it's common sense since sakurai does the HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER! thing everytime a new fighter is revealed, same applies for xerneas.

@sourapplejuice I agree, their twilight princess appearances were great in super smash bros. brawl when the game recently came out, but skyward sword designs should have been much more appropiate this time around with super smash bros. 4. I really hope Sakurai won't let us down.

ROB won't make the cut, since he was a gimmicky character based on an accessory that came with the NES, and we now have a new gimmick character: the wii fit trainer; and like rob, nobody wanted nor expected her/him on the new smash since he/she is based on a gimmicky accesory by nintendo.

I highly doubt snake will also make the cut, since sakurai stated that nintendo characters have the priority on smash bros, therefore, megaman was his replacement.

Ike will be replaced by Chrom, as everyone knows, same with lucario and his mysterious replacement.The similar case applies with the ice climbers and their recently shown replacement: Rosalina and Luma.

Ganondorf, yoshi, wario, diddy kong, jigglypuff,captain falcon, falco, meta knight and ness will all be coming back.

Lucas, king dedede, mr game and watch and the pokémon trainer are all in a bubble right now, nobody knows what to expect about them.

I really hope sakurai removes wolf as he was just another fox clone with little changes. and since the first time I saw him on the smash bros. brawl roster I thought he was just a lame excuse for a character.

I was doubting whether or not download these M2 versions after they announced sonic 1, altered beast and streets of rage because all of them are masterpieces and I was tempted to download them but I didn't due to the fact that you couldn't see the 3D in action in any of the trailers; it wasn't until I saw this review and I just couldn't believe my eyes, shinobi 3, the best genesis game is now portable and IN FREAKING 3D?????!!!! I just had to witness this myself. This is it, the perfect game running on a perfect emulation, with the perfect options, also with perfect controls once more in perfect 3D.

@R_Champ Were we playing the same game? Yes, Marth and Toon link were pretty good characters on brawl and their smahes were amazing, but they weren't as overpowered as you say, but for example zelda is an obnoxious character with an overpowered smash just like them, but I believe her WAY more overpowered by the simple fact that she can turn into sheik; and what about Fox, Falco and Wolf? the MOST OVERRATED characters in smash bros. history in my opinion, even a baby with a controller using them can win and just don't get me started on sonic's ridiculous smash.....

@ZephyrTheLegend I know, but a major character reveal won't kill them, just look at how game freak handled pokemon x and y, those were games that were anticipated as much as smash bros. 4 and we had a lot more information provided on a regular basis.

@Ernest_The_Crab Nonetheless, it is still uninteresting, be sakurai or nintendo doing the character reveals. I am waiting for something as breath-taking as megaman's enormous reveal.

Marth is the icon of the fire emblem series, it was obvious he was going to be in smash bros. 4. Geez nintendo, just cut the crap already and unveil some real surprises, like the announcement of chrom, the pokemon that will replace lucario, the changes to the pokemon trainer (if there will be), the new kid icarus character (palutena, dark pit, magnus, medusa, hades, vividi, etc.) or even a new character anyone doesn't expect, stop unveiling characters that it is obvious they are going to make a return.

@Ren @OorWullie The problem is that nintendo isn't revealing anything noteworthy recently regarding smash bros. and I don't know why; with pokemon they revealed tons of info. but the game was so huge that it still retained multiple secrets. It wouldn't kill them to reveal a couple new astonishing characters or scenarios once a month, or even new pokemon, new assist trophies or even new items. At least something better than "hilarious" pics.

FINALLY!!!!! A DECENT REVEAL!!!!! I was wondering if he was gonna come back, on the positive side because of wind waker hd but on the downside I thought that sakurai would replace him with the link from a link between worlds; glad you came back toon link....

The super famicom, the best console ever made and this man was behind it the whole time. I came here to pay my respects to such an amazing man and wish him well wherever he is, from the deepest of my childhood and teenage memories I just want to say thank you and good night.

@dumedum If you read the comment with utter care and attention, that's not what I originally meant at all. I didn't say I don't want them in, on the contrary, they are classic nintendo characters and therefore, they are MANDATORY in smash 4, my complain is that they keep revealing characters that EVERYBODY on the planet know will make a return on the next smash brothers game; and I know the game is still in development, but unlike the pokemon company, their reveals are pretty lame and boring (except the first trailers and announcements they made at e3), the next character to be revealed to make a return will be yoshi, WOW, didn't see that coming like, at all.

If they revealed that sonic and snake will remain on the roster alongside megaman, the new pokemon replacing lucario or pokemon trainer, the BIG reveal and screenshots of chrom finally taking on marth in smash brothers or isaac and little mac switching from assist trophies to fighters, THAT would be announcements everyone expect to be legendary.

This is getting more and more disappointing, and by that I mean the screenshots and character revelations; it was OBVIOUS that olimar and luigi were going to be in smash 4, olimar due to the release of pikmin 3 and luigi because he is mothereffing luigi and also an smash bros. founder, and now this, peach (one of the most obvious characters to return). What's the next big reveal? I REALLY REALLY WONDER if zelda, ganondorf or yoshi will be included in the next game.

The only thing worth noting about these announcements is the fact that they keep revealing more stages, and that's it.
