Re: "If It Smells Like Money, Konami's Going To Be There In A Heartbeat" - PlatinumGames Talks NFTs

AuroraBoreale

@KillerBOB "The NFT has a value, because then you sell it to someone else for even more money"
1. it has a price, not a value, which is a different thing, value is created by a combination of factors, not just by the price, which can be one of the factors, but things have value even when they are free or nobody wants them.
2. You can sell it IF you find someone who wants to buy it, apart from the fact that is literally the definition of "bigger/greater fool" scams ("buy x in the hope that tomorrow someone would want to buy it for more"), and since they don't have intrinsic value and you can't have an infinite number of people buying it for more that means at some point someone won't find a buyer.

And with points 1 and 2:
"There are evidently lots of "idiots" out there, because NFTs and crypto keep going up in value"
It's because it is a bubble. Nobody is buying crypto and NFT because they need it. They are just used as speculative intruments benefitting early adopters, without a real useful purpose (just some vague points repeated ad nauseam) and with the need to find new buyers all the time, it's not even a MLM scheme, it's the worst type of bubble.

Re: New PEGI Gambling Criteria Means Old Pokémon Games Would Now Be Rated 18+

AuroraBoreale

I don't really understand why so many people in the comments are upset, the only comments I understand are the "but they consider lootboxes 3+" but there's always that flavour of whataboutism. Anyway, ludopathy is a big problem in a lot of european countries, that's why people don't want to introduce children to gambling, it's really just this.
And since Europe is the most peaceful and least violent part of the world that's the reason violence is usually 12 or 16 and gambling is 18, less risk of emulation.

Re: Talking Point: Is The New Switch Lite Blue, Or Purple?

AuroraBoreale

"San Marino, Wikipedia tells me, is a football team"
Well, it's not totally wrong, but it's a bit sad that's the first reference. I suppose San Marino it's not a too much known country outside Italy (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

@ilh there are actually more than one football team with "San Marino" in the name: the national one; a team from San Marino that played in the italian championship; an italian team that plays in the italian championship (Cattolica San Marino); and apparently a team that will play in the next italian championship.
All of that for a country of 30'000 people

Re: SturmFront - The Mutant War: Übel Edition Will Shred Up the Switch Soon

AuroraBoreale

@GlowingOrb I didn't know they are German, so I suppose is not a coincidence, anyway I was reading about the game (it's out for pc) and it looks like are just random references for a "pulp setting" as you said. I think I will probably try it anyway, it caught my attention and is more than what I can say about 80% of eshop releases.

I didn't know about "Rebellion: Heimat Defender" and is... something, apparently. It's looks like a window on an alternate dimension where Leni Riefenstahl created games instead of movies. And it's made by a german developer (´。_。`), with real people as pc and even a real AfD's politician as a pc, bad taste at is fullest, probably a new low point in the history of videogames

Re: SturmFront - The Mutant War: Übel Edition Will Shred Up the Switch Soon

AuroraBoreale

@Severian Well, I like things I can overthink and analyze in every detail (complex wordbuilding, eviromental storytelling, symbolism, historic references, etc...), and if I see a WW2 reference my mind goes mad []~( ̄▽ ̄)~*

@Yanina I don't think it will be a nazi propaganda game or something like that, maybe it is even all a big coincidence (Siegfried von Hammerstein is not exactly an impossible name to create by chance without referencing anything), but now I am curious to play the game to find what is.
Anyway, I would love a Starship Troopers-style game but I don't think the world is ready (there are still people that think that the humans are the good guy in the book and in the movie)

Re: SturmFront - The Mutant War: Übel Edition Will Shred Up the Switch Soon

AuroraBoreale

I'm overthinking it, I'm sure, but there are some WW2 and nazi references here:

  • the title that is one letter away to sound like two different nazi references, as Stormfront is the first nazi website and a nazi character in The Boys (or still sound like a nazi reference because they put "sturm" in the name of everything, from military corps to newspapers, but "sturm" is still a german word so I feel it would be a stretch)
  • than the main character with a german name, not any German name but Siegfried, which is the name of the mythological hero, but also the last line of defense of Germany on the west front during WW2 (and is fitting with the name as the last line of defense of humanity in the game)
  • but Hammerstein-Equord was a german general who plotted to kill Hitler during a visit to the Siegfried line and later a member of the german resistance, and with the year the game is settled that could be a reference to the book (which talk about dictatorship) it could be the opposite of where I was going

So, I'm sure in the mind of the developers the "evil mutants you have to kill to save humanity" are a clear stand-in for something, but I'm not sure what that something is...

Re: Nihon Falcom Is Celebrating Its 40th Anniversary With A Special Broadcast

@BloodNinja
The only new thing they announced is the Cold Steel anime 😕

Anyway, I don't know if I even would buy more Ys or Trails games ports on Switch (I own all of them on one platform or another).

I'm lying, I bought Origin (for Switch) and Celceta (for ps4) even if I already had those on pc, I would buy pretty much all of them just to have a physical copy, there's something wrong with me 😖

Re: Resident Evil Returns To The Big Screen On September 3rd

AuroraBoreale

@Damo the movie has a budget of 200 million, and the producers receive 50% of domestic revenue (91 million) and between 20 and 40% of foreign (245 million), so they made 150 million in the best outcome, less than the budget even before you consider thing like taxes. So, yeah, it was a flop, sorry

And you can have flops with even higher box office, Justice League with 657 million worldwide is still at the best the "most successful flop ever"

Re: Resident Evil Returns To The Big Screen On September 3rd

AuroraBoreale

@durr "He's not white he's Indian. His father is Indian."
Even if, his mother is not, and that's the point, for your idea of "white" there has to be some "pureness", every possible ancestor has to be white, for you he can say he is indian because has an indian father but not that he is white even if he as a white mother.
That's a double standard, that's the problem, that we are in a world were whites have to be "pure" and everything else is something that make everything non-white.
Try reverse your concept and he is magically white and not indian.

Re: Resident Evil Returns To The Big Screen On September 3rd

AuroraBoreale

@durr "he's father is not indian?" no, he may have some indian ancestors, the same way I have some germanic ancestors (you can see it all around my father's family) but all the ancestors I can find were italians, so I'm 100% italian, not german

"You literally wouldnt be saying this if it was non white characters being replaced with white people"
First of all, Jogia is white; second, that a totally different problem because white people played non-white characters A LOT in the past, just so producers didn't have to hire non-whites, it's a false equivalence; third, white was always a broad concept that was used just to decide who was the enemy, and it's a concept by exclusion (a person who has a black parent and a white parent can't say is white), and as an italian with really light skin I would have been addressed as "pale non-white" in the past; fourth, you don't know, you just decided I was part of some group that you perfectly know how works and called me hypocrite just because you think you know me

Re: Top Hat Studios Issues Statement Regarding Demands To Censor Sense - A Cyberpunk Ghost Story

AuroraBoreale

@Wexter last thing: I am reading the various twitter treads, now we have people that are posting treats to people who commented the game, people that are writing more horrible things, it's a mob that need to hate everything.
People are incapable to understand that they are doing exactly what they are criticizing, just because they are on what they think is "the right part". It's really sad, it's a ***** show that won't have any good side ever

Re: Top Hat Studios Issues Statement Regarding Demands To Censor Sense - A Cyberpunk Ghost Story

AuroraBoreale

@Wexter dropping the points: I know there are exagitated people that create un unsane environment, and just the fact that we can think that death treats about a game are real means there is something really wrong, but real censorship is something else, the example of removed games after chinese complain it's because that can determine real censorship, because in China the government can really ban something because is "offensive" just because they feel so, so Sony didn't want that type of problems. Here in Europe you shoud, I don't know, create a game were nazis are the good guys (and even there, just in some countries and has to be explicit, a lot of games normalize nazis like they were just wacky people or soldiers like everyone else and are pretty much ignored).
I think that a lot of things that sometimes are felt like censorship are just aknowledging of problematic aspects of games, but a lot of people have their identity built on the things they like, so every analysis and critiques are seen as personal attacks. People can enjoy problematic things (and really, I do all the time, my avatar is a problematic character like other people noticed), but there is nothing wrong knowing what is problematic. But on internet people behave like they are in a mob, and every high cerebral function is off, so everything as to be a fight.
We, fortunately, live in countries where people can't ask for censorship just because they don't like something, sometimes I think that people just want to have problems that they don't have (and, of course, other people prey on that)

Re: Top Hat Studios Issues Statement Regarding Demands To Censor Sense - A Cyberpunk Ghost Story

AuroraBoreale

@Wexter [English is not my first language, I don't intend to be disrespectful or caustic and I don't know if something can be misinterpreted, read it as much as plain as possible, I just wanted to give quick responses, I don't want to antagonize]
1. every time someone receives a death treats they post it, really, I have seen comics writer receive it, I can believe, but... where are than? Why post just the response?

2. yeah, so? For every game that was criticized there is a ton that was ignored (just watch the steam releases), and if we talk about censorship we need something more than nl comments

3. Yes, was criticized and survived, noone censored it in 28 years, no lost sales, no boycott, and nothing changed, astonishing

4. I didn't even remember those games, anyway that is probably the excuse, because games like that exists in the west, it's just that haven't sold enough probably

5. Xenoblade 2 was scrutinized and... nothing happened, no boycott, no lost sales, noone cared

6. I study people beaviour and... sometimes it's really awful, and we don't know why

Re: Top Hat Studios Issues Statement Regarding Demands To Censor Sense - A Cyberpunk Ghost Story

AuroraBoreale

@Clyde_Radcliffe
1. is a game that screams "sex sells" from every pixel with "cyberpunk" in the title that goes out just after another famous "cyperpunk" title, it's just a step above things like "We Party", it's pretty sure is a marketing stunt, because the worst that you can find is something like "it looks horrible"

2. there is a ton of sexualized games out every week, noone bats an eye, really, noone cares, no, noone that talks about censoring games, there are just some people that WANT to believe that things like that are usual, and those people are used to sell games (just see how many people on twitter are posting images after buying a game nobody ever considered until today, and all the comments here, like the one that popped while I was writing this one -_- talking about "liberal mob" and "leftist lunacy", the sellers are just using people bias to make more money)

3. Cammy is sexualized, is one of my favorite character in vg as a whole, but I can't disagree if someone says that, and I can live with that

4. the last DOA was localized, as every other one, what are you talking about? If a game is not localized is just because it does not sell enough

5. even Nintendo publish sexualized games and noone says anything (Xenoblade 2 for example)

6. my point was just that these comments section nowadays look like chan board (and not the funny part of 4chan)

Re: Monolith Soft Celebrates 10 Years Of Xenoblade Chronicles With Some Special Artwork

AuroraBoreale

@PcTV yes, they are common, so common that there is even a name for some of them, but the strange thing is that if you have the combination of one "epic" pose and a brokeback pose it's always epic male and brokeback female. This time is the opposite, and it's a nice change.

BTW, european BOTW it's not brokeback pose, that is when the character shows both chest and butt in a usually anatomically impossible pose

Re: The Pokémon Company Begins To Ban Sword And Shield Players Who Deliberately Disconnect From Online Battles

AuroraBoreale

@Zuljaras
To abuse the bug you need to disconnect at an exact moment, even if you have a bad connection it's impossible to have that in a totally involuntary way too much times, i suppose when the number is statistically impossible to be an accident than they ban you.
Also: you have to hit the power button to use the bug, if Nintendo can see when your console was on, off and on stand by, and they can, they know if you just disconnected or if you shutted down the console.

@Docpipo Fix a bug it's not an instant operation, it may require days of work, in the meantime the will use this solution. Anyway, if cheaters stop to play, well... THAT'S THE POINT.

Re: The Pokémon Company Begins To Ban Sword And Shield Players Who Deliberately Disconnect From Online Battles

AuroraBoreale

@Zuljaras it's not "disconnecting", it is abuse of a bug, that maybe needs a lot of work to be fixed and won't be done in just some days.
Also Nintendo and Gamefreaks have a long story of punishing cheaters really hard, they want people to know that if you play their games you are safe from scummers.
That strategy was successful until now so I don't think they will change that in the near future.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of March 2020

AuroraBoreale

@Heavyarms55 A lot of people don't understand the fact that even if you see thousands of people complaining it's a very little fraction of the total with number like this. Also: on internet usually the people who hate something are louder than the others.
Probably SwSh is loved by a lot of people, millions of people, but we hear only the 0,1% who complains.
And the devs don't give a s*** about that type of complaining, they look at sales and the data that the consoles send them
