Did you know that Hamster is the Switch's number one publisher when it comes to sheer volume of titles available on the console? And it's showing no sign of slowing down any time soon with the reveal of the next six upcoming titles.
- The King of Fighters ‘97
- Prehistoric Isle 2
- Metal Slug 4
- Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers
- Crossed Swords
- Football Frenzy
Another varied lot, this time with sprinkles of fighting, shmuping, run'n'gunning, hack'n' slashing and even a dash of American football throw in for good measure. Will you be adding any of these to your virtual Switch arcade salon? Tell us all in the comments below.

Just need Windjammers for my collection really , may not happen though I think it’s stuck in rights hell 😕
Prehistoric isle 2 for me. End of discussion.
Another Metal Slug! Metal Slug series is my jam!
There's about a year and a half left before the NEOGEO games run out. And hopefully the arcade titles by the other publishers would get released on a weekly basis by then.
Prehistoric Isle 2 is a must and Real Bout 2 is also great. Will we ever see Baseball Stars 2 and Puzzle Bobble 2 though?
Nice, Realbout Fatal Fury 2
@Axlroselm: You're in the jungle, baby, you're gonna diiiiiiiiieeeeeee!!!!!
And die and die and die. But man are shmups fun! My choice, too.
Been waiting on that prehistoric isle 2. Bout time
Prehistoric Isle 2!
Get in!!!
Metal Slug 4 and Real Bout 2 for me!
Crossed Swords is a game I remember fondly from long ago.
I wonder if it is best left remembered? I'll have to watch some YouTube videos and see if it interests me in today's gaming world.
@cyrus_zuo Hey, I just watched a video on Crossed Swords. I've never seen this arcade game before; it looks like Punch out, but with a Medieval theme.
Good crop there. At least three games on my must-buy list.
Holding out for twinkle star sprites
Wish Cyber Lip would get released.
KOF 97 will always be special to me. I saw the cabinet and fell in love with the game instantly. I loved the SNK character design and sprite work. Luckily, I had a region-modded Saturn. KOF 98 might be the one to own now and make others redundant, but KOF 97 is very good as well. Good to see it here, finally.
Metal Slug 4 is low on my list of favorite Slug games. The gameplay is still Metal Slug so it is fun. Very hard entry in the series.
So if you could only buy one game they have released so far on Switch what would it be? I’ve bought none of them!!
Crossed swords baby!
I'll be getting Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, Metal Slug 4, and Prehistoric Isle 2. Probably may check Crossed Sword as well. Hopefully HAMSTER get on to release these soon: Double Dragon, Rage of the Dragon, Ninja Masters, Kabuki Klash, Samurai Shodown V Special, and SNK vs. Capcom Chaos.
@retro_player_22
Double Dragon is out isn't it ? I think I have that on my Switch.
Love these Neo geo game releases!
@benjamouth That's true but that was the arcade version, I was hoping they also give us the NeoGeo version which was a fighting game and not a beat em up.
I thought Metal Slug 4 was already available on Switch so I was confused for a sec. If/when 5 releases to cap off the series, I might take the plunge and buy them all. Still, it’s a tough sell since I’ve already played the Anthology on Vita...
@trakkerx Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
Do you guys think there might be a chance of getting a pack of neogeo's games instead of spending $6.99 for each one?
Oh man!!!! This is a good line up!!! Im getting The King of Fighters 97, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, Metal Slug 4 and Prehistoric Isle 2! Theres only little left that i want to see from the NEO GEO releases,
The King of Fighters 2001
The King of Fighters 2002
The King of Fighters 2003
Samurai Shodown V Special
Metal Slug 5
Windjammers
Baseball Stars 2
Picking up a few of these games. Still waiting on Iron Clad and Baseball Stars 2 though.
Whoa, never heard of that Prehistoric Isle game. I looked it up and now I’m definitely getting it.
@Joker13z Right! I was getting worried we weren't gonna get anymore. Def buying 4.
It's cool having a comprehensive Neo Geo collection on Switch, but realistically, a lot of these games are redundant. There are a couple of definitive KoF games, for instance, and the rest can be skipped. But hey, they're there for the people who want them.
@trakkerx @Shiryu I'll second that. Actually, my pick would be Metal Slug X, but Garou is my pick among the fighting games.
Pure gold here.... 3 must buys and 2 probably will buys.
Nice, KOF 97 and RB2 are two games they were mysteriously missing
Huzzah! Put me down as another for PREHISTORIC ISLE 2. Looking forward to the SNK ARCADE COLLECTION coming later this year as that has PREHISTORIC ISLE 1.
I'll also grab METAL SLUG 4 to keep my Switch Slug collection going. CROSSED SWORDS is an interesting one in that it's a bit different to other titles on the Neo Geo. So likely pick that one up too.
Keep 'em coming Hamster.
I'd like to see PUZZLE BOBBLE 1 & 2, BATTLE FLIP SHOT, SUPER SIDEKICKS 4, TWINKLE STAR SPRITES, NIGHTMARE IN THE DARK, CYBER LIP, BASEBALL STARS 2 and WINDJAMMERS next. Oh and IRONCLAD too. Although I think that last one was a Neo Geo CD exclusive?
I really want Nightmare in the Dark. I think that's the name of it
When are the konami arcade games that are on ps4 coming to switch? (Haunted Castle, Contra...)
Finally KoF 97! This is the best one IMO.
Collection pack when?
I don’t wanna hate on others for buying these, but I’m curious who buys all the KoF games and if there’s really that much difference in each game. I’d assume that every 5th year or so there’d be a refresh, but from year to year?
Yes! Prehistoric Isle 2 is day 1 for me!! And Idk if football frenzy is any good but the Switch sure can use an American football game!! 10 yard fight is for short bursts only. Meanwhile, Metal Slug 4 is a thumbs up as well!!
@Whalehome Collectors would get them all, I guess. Most folks would probably stick with their favorites. And there's major story arcs every 2-3 games (i.e. Orochi from 95-97, and NESTS from 99-01), and usually major gameplay changes every year (i.e. team edit '95, defensive rolling in '96, multiple play style modes in '97, Dream Match '98 and '02, Strikers in '99, etc.), as well as roster changes/additions, and balance tweaks. Individual character art does change slightly year-to-year, they don't directly cut and paste.
The popular ones I would say are, '96, '97, '98, '02, 11 (as in KoF #11), 13 and 14.
You Neo Geo fans really need folders on Switch don't you?
I wonder if we will see SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos one day.
Finally a new batch announcement. Still no Windjammers though. Baseball Stars 2 when?
To be honest I'm more excited for Arcade Archives series than ACA Neo Geo.
But they said they were planning on releasing 800 games, didn't they? That means almost anything we can imagine. I don't know if 16 bit arcade classics too. And companies we haven't seen yet working with Hamster, such as Konami, Taito or Capcom. Some releases of not so good games make us think they are really releasing just everything in existence. Or at least everything they can secure. Sadly no Windjammers nor games whose rights are in Flying Tiger hands.
The problem is that at this rate the Switch lifespan should be 8 years or so if we have to see all those 800 arcade games.
Was hoping to see Viewpoint. Maybe next time.
@loopingstar I'd love to finally play that game. I dont have a ps4 so I can't play
Excellent, i'm really hyped for Prehistoric Island 2.
I wanted to play these games for a long time, and now they both come to a console i own in the same year (PI1 will be on SNK's 40's Anniversary Collection from what i've heard).
@sdelfin I feel like Metal Slug really peaked with Metal Slug 2/X. Metal Slug 3 wasn't as good but it was still enjoyable, same thing I can say about 4 and 5 but the quality seemed to drop off as the series kept going.
It is kinda like Samurai Shodown, a series that peaked with the first two games where the later entries seemed to keep getting worse.
@JayJ yeah, I'd mostly agree with that. Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown do seem to follow similar paths. I would say both of those properties experienced a dip and then a bit of a rise before falling off again. I agree that Slug 2 and X are probably the best. I prefer X for its technical improvements. I completely agree about Slug 3. Its massive difficulty spike and long final stage hurt it for me. To my surprise, I enjoyed Slug 5 a lot. The difficulty is much more manageable like the games prior to part three, and it has other things going for it. I understand if people didn't like the slide move or other things, but that game worked for me at least. I don't know if you'd agree, but I do consider it a nice improvement over Slug 4.
Same deal with Samurai Shodown. Part three had some nice sprite work, but was lacking in gameplay. I did think part four was much better and a good game as well, even if it may have lacked the magic of part two for many. I didn't like what followed after, though.
W00t! Prehistoric Isle 2!!!
@MotionMan finally someone else mentioning kof 2002 and 2003, I'll get them both because they are the best together, 2002 is a mashup like 98 but better and 2003 have some nice unique system, do you think we'll ever see the modern kof titles that came after 2003 ! I hope so, an HD 2D kof title will make me happy
KOF 97 is a must !
Prehistoric Isle 2 is a must !
Metal Slug 4 is a must !
Real Bout 2 is great !
Cross Sword is a must !
Football Frenzy... not so much.
With all these titles, I already have more neo geo games than those who just brought Neo Geo mini !
I am loving my Neo Geo switch !
@TidusUK i hope so too!!!! I’d would die if SNK released a collection of modern KOF. 11, 12, and 13 immediatly jump to mind. I also would love if they brought over 14 as well.
please release Samurai Showdown V special on Switch !!!!!!
