@calbeau what is NMS missing other than multiplayer stuff. I've never played it anywhere outside of the switch. I've also thrown a ton of stuff in the builder and other parts and I've never seen a truly bad frame rate. Thank you in advance
Sony was the exclusive king since the PS2 (GTA anyone) and now they have the nerve to complain about Microsoft? And it all rings so false while at the same time they are complaining about CoD on Xbox they are securing even more console exclusivity deals with Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, etc.
@The-Chosen-one you are just not being honest. How many games does Digital Foundry bash like they did this game? And bugs are bugs but these aren't bugs. These are issues with gameplay. When the framerate is so low that it's like walking through mud, THATS NOT A BUG!
@iLikeUrAttitude lol, I meant like a WYSIWYG editor for posting. You're probably too young to remember those as most comments sections and even forums no longer have them. It would be so much easier if you could click the text of another person and then hit quote similarly to the way you hit reply.
@arekdougy the fact that you work in retail does not surprise me one bit. It's a great first time.. err lifetime job? Just learn to code! And according to all the fanbois, Alex played an old build of Pokemon and the newer builds were fixed. This is all I heard for the weeks up until release. And a turd is a turd. You make my point for me, I'm buying a game not a car. Why should I have to follow the game up until release to know how it's going to run? There should be a refund window under so many hours. So within three days or less than 4 hours you get a refund. More than enough time to figure out if that game is for you but not long enough to finish it. Maybe even make the time developer changeable (say youre and Indy dev who's game is 4 hours long you could set it to two hours.
@arekdougy "Kinda goofy to get a refund. If you want to guarantee the quality of a product, then wait a day or two before buying it."
**No offense but that statement is ignorant. When you buy anything you expect it to work as advertised out the door. We're not talking about a car that you don't like the handling or cornering. If you bought a brand new car and turned the key but it didn't start you wouldn't expect those on a forum to say you should have waited a few days for a review. Starting is one of those things this car has trouble with, duh! The game should work from a technical aspect and then if you don't like the gameplay or story well that's on you. But if the issues are making it hard to play the game then Nintendo needs to give refunds. And I'm sure those making a big enough stink about it are getting refunds.
@Strictlystyles "People who ask for refunds on games that aren’t that bad are some of my the most terrible human beings I swear. Like I get it, games are being pushed out quicker than normal these days but that’s because game development costs more and they need the money. The kinks will get patched out and I’m sure they are working on just that hence the silence. Let’s not act like the game is unplayable. That’s the only time a refund is warranted"
"@EaglyTheKawaiiShika first of all I said specifically “some of” not the “the most” so cut it out and I really don’t care about your take on it. The type of person to ask for a refund on a game that isn’t unplayable for a handful of glitches will probably do some other Karen-like behavior.
I’m all for refunds on games, like for instance ps4 cyberpunk owners but this right here? this is a bit silly."
**You are a piece of work. Most terrible human beings because they want to return a game? And then you have the nerve to mention Karen's when you sound like the biggest one in the world?! The whole point of a game is to make you feel immersed in the world and give you entertainment value. If constant bugs or issues are ruining the experience for you then why shouldn't you get a refund? Man, the ones growing up today are pathetic. I pray we never have a WW3 as we will be out of luck with the lot of you!
I'm sorry NintendoLife giving this game such a good review when it has serious performance issues is a problem. Why not give it a review it deserves and then if they fix it update the score. Maybe if all reviewers did this GF & tPC would be quicker to fix the issues. Maybe...
@GreenNinja500 this isn't a modern game. Did you not watch the video? The Witcher 3, botw, totk, dying light, no man's sky, ark evolved, doom all run perfectly well on the switch and are all (mostly) multiplat. This games failures are 1000% coding issues and not hardware related. These pokemon games look and run like N64 or PS2 games.
@spottedleaf your comparison is ridiculous. If everyone's driving a 79s VW beetle no one notices but if everyone's driving farraris and you're driving a VW beetle it stands out. All games from the N64, etc we're running like crap. That's not the case today. Alan Wake switch runs better than these games. Stop it already! I'm blown away there are people actually defending this crap in this comment section. Grow a pair!
I will be buying two copies of this game to support JK and the team! Also, the graphics on this game are just so so, even on the big consoles so I can't imagine the switch having such a hard time. Don't get me wrong, the dev team needs to do a good job of porting the game like recent games such as No Mans Sky, Ark Renewed and not do an Alan Wake. I only own a switch, and I love when these games are ported to it because thats the only way i get to play and enjoy. I'm excited as long as it's not a cloud game.
NintendoLife you guys have missed the updated Ark Ultimate versions release and no news, reviews, comparisons (to the first switch version)? I bought the game day one just to support the devs as they should be rewarded for the time, effort and money spent to make their game better and then giving it away for free! The updated game is great with great visuals and an open world! Not too mention if you pay $30 for the DLC packs you'll have more content for over a year!
@alasdair91 how did you get 4.0.1? I have 4.0.2. My numbers in my post above were exactly what is stored on my device but I can't be sure of the cart size as I have no way to check that as I have an OLED switch.Switch.
Also the newer inventory is way better. Not many menus inside the already big menu system which makes everything much easier. I've noticed the loading screen is different. I've noticed some other changes in the GUI as well. This game is just amazing. I wish they could strap the star trek property to this and it would be amazing.
@alasdair91 wow that's odd as they said the game was 3.2GB on the original eshop page. Then I downloaded 1.6GB on day 1 and now I'm on version 4.0.2. I downloaded another 1.7GB for this new update but it deleted the old data and now it's only 1.7GB in my data settings. So I'm guessing plus the original al 3.2GB on the gamecart that the eshop says the game is. So wouldn't we be at 4.9GB (lol 5GB gamecart plus download patch).
Some of you are the reason we can't have nice things. Instead of being happy that the dev ported the game well to the Switch, which is an achievement in its own right, you complain and refuse to buy. Then you'll wonder why other developers don't bother or simply do cloud versions. I agree that some games like The Outter Worlds didn't deserve a buy, at first. But they got it together and the game was better for it. This game looks amazing on the Switch.
@Highlar @Highlar I went to like ten sites checking this and then to the official website.
"Early adopters on Nintendo Switch can claim a set of exclusive rewards from the Space Anomaly. Connect to the No Man’s Sky servers on Switch before 7th November 2022 to be eligible to collect the Horizon Vector NX starship and Infinite Neon Mark XXII Multi-Tool."
It says connect to the servers but I haven't gotten anything as of yet. So maybe its delayed?
@Highlar I agree 100% but I think the issue was that reviewers were preparing for the 4.0 update and only found out, release day today, that the update would be delayed. As they [developers] had posted earlier this month and week that said the switch version will drop day-and-date with the 4.0 cozy update. Now it seems they are blaming Nintendo (probably true knowing Nintendo) on that and the reviewers are left waiting? I know SwitchUP on YouTube had a section for the 4.0 update in their YouTube review and removed those parts till the update comes out. But they were taken off guard as well. What does the release window mean? A week, a month, six months, lol?
@Highlar I think a lot of reviewers were waiting on the 4.0 cozy update to move forward with the reviews. I know for a fact the developers gave early copies to many youtube and internet sites. I love that as that lets me know the developers aren't afraid of anything. I agree with you, the graphics are all over on the switch but the gameplay is crazy good! When Nintendo Life asked about multiplayer the devs were coy and said maybe in the future. I think they are waiting to see how the game sells. If everyone buys this game they'll make multiplayer available. But of course they don't want to commit if it doesn't sell well. I'll buy ANY game in which the developers try to port a huge game natively to the switch. It's the only way to ensure devs are willing to take the chance in the future.
It's just amazing. I've played for like 5 hours now and it's unlike anything on the switch. Its so amazing to be able to take off and go anywhere and do anything. Pop in is an issue but THIS IS THE SWITCH and I'm blown away that it's even running. Dynamic resolution will scale up and down depending on how much is onscreen at any given time. But I've experienced no frame lags or anything.
It has a very strict learning curve in the just couple hours I've spent with it. But it surely looks like it will be worth it in the end. The graphics are decent but pop in is severe. I'm amazed they got a game this size on the Switch. I wish there was an option for text size as it's small. I'm nearsighted so it's easy for me but I'm sure others might have an issue. And why don't developers put in more video graphics sliders like they did in the Witcher 3 on switch? Let us tune our own game to our liking. I mean even n64 games has expansion pack tuning. Oh well
@Zach777 they didn't release the big update they are talking about in the article but there was an update to version 1.2.0. I have the physical but it downloaded 1.6GB on first run. So I'm guessing my 3.2GB gamecart plus the 1.6GB on my microSD for a total of 4.8GB which IMO is still really small.
Does anyone else think it was insane that Nintendo could simply take over that persons game and delete it?! How come there are no articles about this? The person gained access to Advance Wars, had the game on their switch, played it and Nintendo was able to delete the game from the switch without the owners consent. This is huge! @TonyTyga90 it was amazing! By far the best cloud game I have ever played. I played in the high quality version (you can either choose 30 fps with Ray tracing or 60fps). It worked like a dream on the switch. I played the whole game and DLCs on my switch as it's the only console I own. I prefer physical games but the switch could never run the quality that control had. Very good game and a great cloud experience by far.
@sanderev yeah, and it also doesn't slow down RE8 either! I guess all those videos comparing them side by side were wrong. Do you believe everything that companies say, lol.
