The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise DLC has a lot of new stuff to discover, but most of it gets parcelled out over several days of playing the game. If you're wondering how you can get all the fancy facilities that other people have, we're here to help!

Happy Home Paradise Facilities - How to unlock all facilities

Here are all five facilities, how to unlock them, what they do, and how to expand or upgrade them later on.

School

How to unlock the school

• Talk to Lottie outside the empty building to the left of the Happy Home office after doing four house designs
• Work on two more villager homes (six total)
• Speak to Lottie again

Furniture needed for the school

• 1 Teacher's Desk
• 2 Desks
• 4 Chairs

School special features

Speak to the "teacher" you assigned every day to receive a shrub start (so far we've only received Plumeria, but this may be seasonal). Also, at some point, Leif will appear on the island to teach you about hybrid flowers. Niko will also use the school to tell you about pillars and counters.

Café

How to unlock the café

• Complete twelve villager homes
• Speak to Lottie
• Choose "Let's make the café!"

Furniture needed for the café

• 1 Cash Register
• 1 Table
• 4 Chairs

Café special features

Speak to one of the two wait staff to order food and drinks (pre-made, not recipes). The menu changes every day! It costs Poki to buy each dish.

How to get the café second floor upgrade

• Reach the Superstar Designer grade (19 homes, total rank of 84)
• Talk to Lottie and select "Let's talk about facilities"
• Choose "The café" and select "Expand it"

How to build the café if you already built the restaurant

You'll be able to build the café at any time, even if you chose the restaurant first. Just speak to Lottie and choose "Let's talk about facilities", then "Let's make a café."

Restaurant

How to unlock the restaurant

• Complete twelve villager homes
• Speak to Lottie
• Choose "Build a restaurant!"

Furniture needed for the restaurant

Restaurant:

• 1 Cash Register
• 1 Table
• 4 Chairs

Kitchen:

• 2 Stovetop

Restaurant special features

If you go into the kitchen, you can speak to the chef there to get a free recipe every single day.

How to get the restaurant second floor upgrade

• Add three pairs of roommates
• Talk to Lottie and select "Let's talk about facilities"
• Choose "The restaurant" and then "Expand it"
• You'll need to place at least 1 Table and 2 Chairs to complete the design

How to build the restaurant if you already built the café

You'll be able to build the restaurant at any time, even if you chose the café first. Just speak to Lottie and choose "Let's talk about facilities", then "Let's make a restaurant."

Hospital

How to unlock the hospital

• After 22 house designs, Lottie will get sick, and you need to speak to her
• Complete 3 more houses (25 total) and speak to Lottie again

Furniture needed for the hospital

Waiting room:

• 1 Counter
• 4 Chairs

Examination room:

• 1 Doctor's Desk
• 1 Doctor's Chair
• 1 Patient's Chair

Hospital special features

You can get hospital-themed clothing items once a day by talking to the receptionist, and then the doctor. Special NPCs may also be able to give you gifts, like Joan, who will give you free turnips.

Hospital wing upgrade

• Speak to the receptionist and selecting "Can I donate?"
• Donate 120,000 Poki to the hospital
• Speak to Lottie the day after and select "Let's talk about facilities"
• Choose "The hospital" and then "Expand it"
• You'll need 3 Beds to complete the new Patient Ward

Apparel Shop

How to unlock the apparel shop

• After 30 house designs, you'll have a celebration with the team
• Speak to Lottie after the party to unlock the apparel shop

Furniture needed for the apparel shop

• 1 Cash Register
• 1 Display Mannequin (and no more than 6)

You'll also need to choose a style for the shop to sell:

• Cute
• Simple
• Cool
• Showy
• Loose
• Anything is fine

Apparel shop special features

You can buy clothes, of course! The shop selection changes daily, and you'll be spending Poki.

How to remodel

If you change your mind about your design, or even just the exterior, speak to Lottie in the Happy Home Paradise office, and say "Let's talk about facilities". From there, you can choose one to remodel.
