Disney Illusion Island (Switch)
£24.49 (-30%)
*Sale ends 6th January
While you could certainly argue that Disney Illusion Island is perhaps more of a Metroidvania than it is a straight-up 2D platformer, we reckon it strikes a wonderful balance between the two genres that it could honestly fall into either category. Its focus on combat-free exploration makes this a great gateway into the genre for younger audiences, and its ability to support up to four players via local co-op means that it's an excellent option for families who want to spend a bit of time with some of the most iconic Disney characters imaginable. You can also hug each other to regain health. What more could you ask for?

Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch)
£7.99 (-84%)
Dragon Ball FighterZ on the Switch is, simply put, one of the best fighting games we've seen on the system. Arc System Works went the extra mile in capturing the essence of the source material and distilled it into an incredible brawler that has lost nothing in the transition to Nintendo's hybrid console. The stunning visuals, intense action, and easy-to-master controls make FighterZ a game all fans of the genre should have in their library. If you only play this kind of game casually, it remains a must-own.
Dusk (Switch eShop)
£7.44 (-50%)
Dusk is one hell of an impressive piece of software and possibly the single best Unity port to Switch we've ever seen, sidestepping typical performance problems and delivering a brilliant experience of a brilliant game. It's not as good a game as Quake, but almost nothing is. There's a relatively limited arsenal of weapons — they're all great, but there's no iconic gun here, just your usual pistol, shotty, assault rifle, explosives, et al. We're being churlish with our criticisms here, though — ultimately, Dusk is another absolute cracker in Switch's FPS roster.
Everhood (Switch eShop)
£6.74 (-50%)
Everhood is one of the most memorable games we’ve played in recent years. A mad mix of RPG, rhythm action, kart racing and bullet-hell shmup, its utterly bonkers plot and weird cast of characters is reason enough to check it out, but the instantly accessible rhythmic combat will keep you hooked from the very first battle to the epic final boss encounter.
Some may be put off by the minimal visual design and deliberately vague sequence of events, but for those after something a bit different, Everhood delivers originality and unique gameplay in spades and absolutely deserves a place in your Switch library.
Forager (Switch eShop)
£6.29 (-65%)
Every now and then, a game comes along that captures our hearts and reminds us why we love the medium in the first place. Forager features wonderfully designed crafting mechanics, addictive progression systems and more charm than you can possibly handle.
Although it has very minor drawbacks, there's enough good stuff present here for us to confidently recommend adding Forager to your collection.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (Switch eShop)
£12.49 (-50%)
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was one of the best games on Nintendo DS. Now it is one of the best games on Nintendo Switch. If you're a fan of Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, AI: The Somnium Files, or just of having a good dang time with a brilliant story and stunning art, then why are you still here? Go and get the game. Now. Go!!!!
Good Job! (Switch eShop)
£12.59 (-30%)
*Sale ends 6th January
Good Job! was a wonderful surprise that everyone should try out. Thanks to its hilarious physics, seemingly menial tasks have the potential to descend into utter carnage – whether intentional or not – and its grading system means there are plenty of opportunities to replay. Slight technical hiccups aside, Good Job! is absolutely guaranteed to have you in fits of laughter.
Grim Fandango Remastered (Switch eShop)
£2.87 (-75%)
The fact you’ve been able to play Grim Fandango Remastered on your TV and in handheld form elsewhere for years doesn’t matter one bit, because this gem of a game is still as enchanting and evocative as it was the first time you popped open that oversized cardboard box back in PC in 1998.
Here and now on Nintendo Switch, this port looks and runs noticeably smoother thanks to Double Fine’s deft adjustments, so whether you’ve already joined Manny on his afterlife odyssey or this is your first time among the dead, Switch's library is 100 percent better for its inclusion.
Hand of Fate 2 (Switch eShop)
£4.52 (-80%)
Almost impossible to categorise yet utterly compelling as a result, Hand of Fate 2 is a unique RPG experience. Fusing the basic premise of a deck-building card game with the heart of an action-RPG, there’s just so much to enjoy here; the rewarding premise of its deck-building, the endless depth of its questing, the simple pleasure of its combat.
This is a handheld port that’s practically indistinguishable from the version you can play elsewhere. Do yourself a favour and get this fantasy romp in your digital library right now.
Hypnospace Outlaw (Switch eShop)
£3.09 (-80%)
Hypnospace Outlaw really is like nothing else out there; at once an excellent puzzle game, razor-sharp satire and meticulously crafted slice of early-internet nostalgia that you can spend hours absolutely lost in. It's frequently hilarious stuff that's impeccably well-written across the board, managing to successfully bring the crazy, lawless, early rush of creativity that formed the pre-Y2K era of the internet convincingly back to life.
It delivers a truly extraordinary recreation of the GeoCities era of the internet that absolutely nails its '90s aesthetic to present a living, breathing world that's a joy to spend time browsing around, soaking up the atmosphere and reliving the anarchic early days of the internet as you slowly untangle the puzzles at the heart of its narrative.
Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition (Switch eShop)
£8.99 (-50%)
Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition puts Heart Machine’s obtuse yet engaging throwback where it belongs — in portable Nintendo form — and it makes for the definitive version.
With a handful of exclusive features, the game suddenly feels new and fresh - and with a silky smooth frame rate and every boss, secret and upgrade from the original here for you to experience, this is a wonderful addition to the Nintendo Switch’s bulging indie library.
Into The Breach (Switch eShop)
£5.69 (-50%)
Into The Breach is a brutal, uncompromising game of making hard decisions and living with your mistakes, but the short length of battles and endless variety of playthroughs make for an extremely addictive experience.
Though the graphics are nothing special, the gameplay is some of the very best you’ll find in the strategy genre on Switch, and we can easily recommend this to anybody looking for an in-depth game that’ll make you think. Into The Breach feels right at home on the Switch, and whether you play more at home or on the go, you’re more than likely to get plenty of value out of this.
Invisible, Inc. Nintendo Switch Edition (Switch eShop)
£4.49 (-75%)
Invisible, Inc. is a brilliant little tactics game, right up there with Into the Breach and XCOM – if not even better. The bite-sized structure belies a deceptively complex and meaningful game, where all your decisions ultimately mean something significant for that final desperate attack.
If you enjoy stealth or tactics games – or you're simply looking for a way into either genre – then Invisible, Inc. deserves your attention.
Jack Move (Switch eShop)
£6.19 (-60%)
It may not last terribly long, but Jack Move manages to pack in all the important elements needed for an excellent cyberpunk JRPG adventure. The inventive battle system, enchanting world, and appealing graphics all come together to make for a perfectly paced, gripping, and memorable release that no RPG fan will want to miss out on, and that goes double for time-poor genre aficionados.
It’s not often that you see a JRPG that leans so hard into science fiction tropes, and Jack Move makes the most of every minute of its runtime. Highly recommended.
Kaze and the Wild Masks (Switch)
£3.49 (-81%)
An absolute pleasure from start to finish, what Kaze and the Wild Masks lacks in originality it makes up for in the strength of its level design, responsive controls, kinetic move set and attractive visuals. Excellent, action-packed platforming through and through, with great gameplay variety and gimmicks that don’t compromise on what the game is best at — challenging, fast-paced obstacle courses and deviously hidden secret areas.
Easiest sell? Kaze and the Wild Masks is to Donkey Kong Country what Freedom Planet was to Sonic the Hedgehog. Don’t miss this one.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe (Switch)
£33.29 (-33%)
*Sale ends 6th January
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a fantastic remaster of one of our favourite Kirby adventures. With slick new visuals, some meaningful gameplay tweaks, and two excellent new modes to dig into, this is a big, loud, colourful celebration of all things Kirby that should delight new and returning players alike. Magalor's Epilogue is a surprisingly chunky addition to the core action that gives the campaign a nice boost, whilst Merry Magoland ensures that you and your pals are kept busy with plenty of minigames, missions, and online challenges to best once you're done with the main story mode.
La-mulana 2 (Switch eShop)
£8.99 (-60%)
The original La-Mulana was a masterpiece in its own right, but we’d contend that it’s been edged out by the sequel. What we have here is an expertly-paced, crushingly difficult, and utterly mystifying adventure that constantly beckons you to explore deeper and acquaint yourself with its unique charms.
La-Mulana 2 definitely isn’t for everybody – if you consider yourself an impatient or clumsy player, steer clear – but those who put in the time and effort to crack this nut will be deeply satisfied that they did so.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (Switch)
£11.99 (-80%)
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a stellar experience, a great big celebration of everything Star Wars.
The upgrades to the series' core gameplay here — the combo-focused combat, flashy space battles, boss encounters, over-the-shoulder shooting action, and cover system — all combine to make this the best Lego Star Wars has ever felt to play.
Throw in a humongous open-world setting that's bursting at the seams with secrets and collectibles and you've got an absolute smorgasbord of all things Star Wars to dig into. Yub nub.
Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story (Switch eShop)
£15.60 (-40%)
Like Atari 50 and The Making of Karateka before it, Digital Eclipse's latest interactive documentary is a wonderful glimpse into the mind of one of gaming's most fascinating figures. Even if you've got no prior knowledge of Minter or his games, the selection of videos, image galleries, quotes, and playable games included here will provide you with a newfound respect for this niche yet immensely important segment of gaming history. Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story is another triumph for Digital Eclipse, and we can't wait to see what the studio tackles next with its Gold Master Series.
Lost in Play (Switch eShop)
£8.99 (-50%)
Lost in Play has many of the hallmarks of golden-age point-and-click adventures: a cartoon style, humorously animated protagonists, item-based puzzles, and curiosity-piquing 2D scenes serving as both play space and reward for clearing the previous area. However, it also shakes off many of the classic bugbears.
Over its five-or-so hours, Lost in Play barely puts a foot wrong, delivering cerebral gaming and effervescent entertainment. In doing so, it makes many of the genre’s design challenges look easy.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Switch eShop)
£5.99 (-50%)
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime caught us by surprise; we were expecting a great multiplayer party experience but ended up with something much more than that. If you have a great bunch of friends and the necessary controllers, be sure to gather everyone 'round for some challenging but hilarious teamwork. If you don’t, or if you prefer playing alone, load the game up anyway and enjoy an intense, strategically-minded campaign with a warm and welcoming exterior.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime deserves to be played and should most definitely be on your eShop wishlist – we’re still in love, for sure.

Has Pizza Tower been on sale on the American eShop before?
If not, why is it that Europe and Japan (as of typing this comment) have discounts there but not in America?
Awww snap, this means the NA one is about to drop. Let me get my pennies ready for some heavy sales.
Nice, will check tomorrow when I have time if there are any games among these I'm interested in that aren't already in my Deku Deals wishlist or of course my possession!
A Short Hike is fantastic
Gonna give BR2 a chance too though I haven't finished the 1st one yet
if you call yourself a gamer and don't buy A SHORT HIKE, you are NOT a gamer. This game will exceed every expectation you have! it's brilliant and super fun!!!! BUY IT TODAY!!!!!!!
That is a mighty fine sale, finally picked up night in the woods!
A Short Hike, Chicory, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, Snuffkin Moomin Melody. Not all featured here, but all on sale and are on my watch list! I think I will be buying 2 for myself on Christmas day as my gaming gift to me!
I also see the Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2 are on sale. Sorely tempted just because I LOVED the GC version of the first game, but do I need it again 22 years on? Also, BGDA 2 did not score well on Nintendo Life. Hum. But think I will stick with the smaller indy ones this time.
A short hike is lovely.
Does Hellblade normally go on sale for you guys? In the US at least, it hasn't had a discount since 2019.
The excellent Bug Fables is also on sale for practically just 10€, so if you haven't played that yet please don't sleep on one of the best indie RPGs (and indie games in general) ever made. I grabbed both that and Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon, a pair of games I loved playing on the PS4 a few years ago and which seemed perfect for a replay on the Switch.
I recommend the game :
Crystal Project
For the RPG fans
In a heartbeat ! Really.
There is a demo in the e-shop for the undecided

And link steam for the last updates :

Chicory looks absolutely delightful.
I had such an amazing time with games like Golf Story or Night in the Woods, I certainly recommend them. OneShot too but I think the experience hits better on PC.
@HammerGalladeBro I'd wait a few days, maybe a week. These seasonal deals tend to hit Europe first... that said, not everything in Europe goes on sale in NA.
@HammerGalladeBro NA sales usually drop within a week of major European sales.
Get Pizza Tower, my GOTY, you won’t regret it
I recommend Pizza Tower to anyone who loves a great fast paced platformer with parry and combo mechanics.
How come Mega Man Battle Network didn't make the list? It got a 9 in its review and is now 50% off.
FORGOTTEN LAND UNDER $60 ALARM
I can't afford to buy 54 games, are you mad!

@Deviant-Dork
Yeah, these "lists" post are a trainwreck of text and ads. Like 10 pages of endless scrolling. I usually just head straight to the comments.
80% off AI in Somnium is crazy!
If you have any love for story driven games, thrillers or detectives: GET THIS! You won't regret looking past that horrible title and boxart! 😂🤎
Get Danganronpa V3 (and the series) on Steam, not Switch.
V3 on Switch runs like butt.
Not a bad list at all and I expect a lot of time and effort was put into it so many thanks. Just want to say though which is a bit off topic but Thumper in VR is just fantastic.
@Deviant-Dork …It’s an article about games on sale on the European eShop. A storefront that doesn’t use USD.
They make completely separate articles for recommendations based on sales on the North American eShop - a storefront that does use USD. Funnily enough, those articles display prices in USD.
Strange that, isn’t it…?
@Markiemania95 I'm glad you agree with what I was saying!
@Deviant-Dork This is the list for the European sale, hence the use of GBP
The list for the US sale can be found here: https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/161-games-you-should-pick-up-in-nintendos-hits-for-the-holidays-eshop-sale-north-america

@Smug43
what makes that game so good? This is the first time hearing about it, and seeing comments about it made me curious.
@The-Chosen-one it's one of those hidden gems most people have never heard of because it's a indie game which never got much coverage or marketing. you will absolutely love this game, it's so much fun.
