I played the original Prime on the Gamecube, and loved it. I also played the "Prime trilogy" on the Wii. I haven't played the Switch remaster, but people seem to be very fond of it. Having rewatched the trailer I must say it doesn't look that bad, although some textures are really old. I couldn't watch it in the best quality though, and I am pretty sure it will look better on my Switch anyway. Its just that I expected a bit stronger textures and overall graphics, but maybe that's not possible on our current Switch. I also hoped that they would stir the franchise up a bit, like they did with Zelda botw. But nope, this is traditional Prime gameplay. I hoped they would ditch the Prime moniker and go away from that point in time. Now we are still in that time-period, so I wonder how interesting that story can be (since the original Prime story had been closed).

Anyway, I hope it will be better then Prime 3. Prime 3 was still great, but very lineair.

I am excited for it for sure. Very iterested to see how they progess the story and if the timline ends up connecting to Dread eta. Those games are after the Prime series as most know.

Remeber regarless of how new Prime 4 is it's still being shown on 8 year old hardware. It can only look so good. Prime Remaster is still gorgeogose. I have faith.

Excited to see if the Switch 2 brings any upgrades. I'm betting yes but we shall see.

Yeah, that Dread connection may be a thing and I am also interested in that. Wouldn't surprise me if one of the big things for Switch 2 regarding Metroid might be the mouse-controls.

@OorWullie Really? I have that on Xbox. Such a great game. I know they worked some magic on the Doom Port as well.

@LordDieALot It's a superb game. An all time favourite for me. There's nothing else quite like it. I was amazed at how good it looks on Switch. The image quality is unreal. The anti aliasing gives it a really clean look, not a jaggy edge to be seen. So rare for a Switch game.

It was ported by Feral Interactive. They also ported Grid Autosport, another of the Switch's finest looking games. But Alien Isolation is another level.

@OorWullie Good to know. It's been a while since I pladed it. Would look amazing on my OLED. Might double dip.

Almost done with Ehoes and my Metroid Prime Rerun.

Just watched the original Beyond trailer there and to me, it looks better than what they showed in the recent trailer. Lighting and image quality look better and there's less aliasing. I reckon that original trailer is actually the Switch 2 Edition.

I'll stick with the original version, since I don't know when (if ever) I'll buy a Switch 2 (all the prices regarding Switch 2 are awful). But people who buy a Switch 2 this year can enjoy the Switch 2 version of course.

My only concern is...will they add Gamecube control scheme? That was the only issue I had with MP Remastered...
It'll be nice to have it for this one when it does release...

Would have loved this to be a Switch 2 release title. Although Metroid games have traditionally never sold as well as other Nintendo IPs.

I wonder when this gets released. Holiday 2025? And at what price? If it will be 80 Euro on Switch 2, will it also be 80 Euro on Switch?! Basically I am totally sick off all the Switch 2 related prices I heard the past few days. The Switch succes has totally gone to their heads. What has happened with "affordable fun for the whole family" philosophy? Feels like Nintendo are shutting themselves down!

The game is clearly finished, alongside all the ones they were giving hands-on demos for at the events, so they could release it whenever they want. I don't think it'll be held back for the run-up to Christmas, because Z-A is clearly the title with the larger potential audience. Maybe August/September, if I had to guess.

One thing of note is that the Switch 2 Edition comes with a Switch cartridge and an upgrade code, which seems to be the new standard for cross-gen releases.

Seeing as the Switch edition won't come with the code, it should be a bit cheaper, plus you can still upgrade it at a later date if you want.

Edit: Looks like that's not actually the case, and the Switch 2 Editions come with Switch 2 cards, but Nintendo's wording is just horribly ambiguous.

I'm curious if the Switch 1 vouchers will work for Prime 4 Switch 1 version and if buying the game with a voucher and then buying an upgrade pack will be cheaper than directly buying the digital Switch 2 version.

The previous announcement only said that you can't use vouchers for Switch 2 Exclusive games.

There was no mention of Switch 2 Editions, so that might still be a possibility.

@Matt_Barber
Dont think so. Vouchers can be used on the $60 Switch games. Doubt they're gonna allow them to be used to also get the $10 upgrade pack (or in the case of Kirby and Mario Party, the $10 upgrade pack and the $10 DLC expansion)

Why has every trailer for this game been abysmal? They show the most boring slow-paced footage they could find. The Treehouse footage with the opening cinematic looks a lot better, there's so much going on. If they decided to release that anyway, why not use that to market your game?

Bolt_Strike

@Octane The running theory is that there's a major new mechanic not revealed yet that they want to save for a later trailer. They seem to be very careful about what sections of the game they're showing off right now, it's mainly the same few sections for the most part. My guess is that they either don't have a major gameplay mechanic ready to show or they're intentionally spreading out the reveal to build hype later.

I'm not a fan of what they did to Sylux during that cutscene from the Treehouse Live segment. That's not the Sylux I've been encountering and playing as for over 19 years in Metroid Prime Hunters. Even though I'm disappointed with that scene, I'm still planning on getting the game, and will be interested in seeing how Sylux is shown in additional footage once Prime 4's marketing really steps up. My excitement for the game though is certainly much lower than it was last year as are my expectations.
