And yet console exclusives like FFVII Rebirth haven't sold well at all until it was ported to PC. Very odd indeed lol

@Zeeba ports like that don't sound like their point in this case, but in general I've been keeping my fingers crossed during 8+ years of Directs. And, FWIW, a few other top priority Direct finger-crossers on my list (like Xenoblade X and Tales of Xillia) have actually happened while Square Enix spent the generation unshelving a lot of their own stuff, so...

@Jhena botw is what they wanted the original nes classic to be it was as open world as much as they could make a nes game.

I mean I guess, but I already have P4G and I'm souring on Atlus's buy-it-again model, which is more irritating than day one DLC. It seems like we're going back to the well too much when it seems like they can still make good new games like Metaphor.

The only SMT-like game that really needs a second chance is Tokyo Mirage Sessions and I will die on that hill.

@rvcolem1 That's what I love about the series, it's very challeging if you're trying to get the best times, items etc. So much replayability layers in that. The first two games are quite hard but gets more accessible after 3 (the Wii U original was much harder than Deluxe, though).

It's a little scary that Persona 6 wasn't even mentioned. Of course, the last 24 hour countdown for Persona 5 was only an image of some chairs and a ball of chain.

Please add more save slots. The best Pikmin game ever made! I'd be so happy if this ends up being true.

I would love a future where I no longer have to have multiple expensive boxes that do almost the same thing just to have some specific games.
The PS5 is currently about $400 / game (system + Demon's Souls + Astro Bot) and the Switch 2 is about $300 / game (system + Mario Kart + Bananza)
Those number go down over time /w more games, but they're really, really, expensive, and in the Playstation's case, I've got this boat anchor, too. Not to mention that I have limited HDMI ports, and game libraries become inoperable after I no longer have room to plug it in without some juggling, plus I have to store all of it.

I'm biased towards the PC, as even if it isn't perfect, it's the only platform that could in theory "do everything" and I won't have to worry about the purchases just disappearing because of a console generation running out.

I am unfortunately one of the people that cannot play Snoozaland because of a bug that doesn’t register me opening the supply box during the first trip. Sooooo… guess I’m waiting for a patch.

I believe this is happening. It’s probably just an update for higher resolution/fps… but a Nintendo thing to do would be to release something like Pikmin 3 Deluxe + Alph’s Uncharted Journey. And then do another Switch 2 edition for Pikmin 4. Idk. It’s Nintendo. Anything is possible lol.

@somnambulance it's my favorite by a mile. I haven't played the Switch version, but the Wii U version really showed the strengths of the gamepad. I was pretty disappointed in 4 tbh

This wouldn't surprise me. Pikmin is Miyamoto's baby, so he probably wants Switch 2 Editions for all 4 games on Switch, but it'll probably only happen for 3DX and 4.

Kirby Air Riders beat DK Bonanza? That's a huge shock given the fawning publicity, including 10/10 reviews from some sites, by so much of the media. Perhaps Japan was a little different anyway. Not to suck up, the NL review got the balance right with a 9, while I found it somewhat repetitive and would score it 8. Kirby got 8, which would be my score too.

As to comments about no Metroid Prime 4 anywhere near the top, Japan has never been strong for Metroid. Beyond Japan, the media hit job on MP4 about the computer characters won't see strong sales anywhere. The bias and animosity built from the preview could never see MP4 get a fair review. Again, NL was an exception, especially by choosing someone different to do the review. Others, notably IGN, used the same prat that had the initial meltdown, which manifested as you'd expect. IGN a petty 8; NL a fair 9.

Further problematic for MP4 was the horrible release timing. As a Switch game at heart, it should have been the swansong game for the Switch and released early this year, especially when there was nothing else around. For the Switch 2, in December, with higher expectations, and so many other games available, MP4 got lost. As a devotee of the Metroid series, I really hoped to see MP4 get a huge push in almost complete isolation, not released almost as an afterthought. So disappointing.

For all of Nintendo's faults, I'm glad they remember the foundational rule that exclusives sell consoles. No matter how hard Xbox suits try to tell you otherwise, the proof is in the company's rapidly declining reputation: no exclusives means no reason to buy your consoles. I just hope that Sony remembers this before too much more damage is done to them as well.

@Angelic_Lapras_King Ha. I'm getting that a lot with my music tastes right now too. Had a lot of albums getting anniversary editions in recent years; everything from Roxette that's hit 30 years so far (up to Crash! Boom! Bang!), the first four from the Lightning Seeds (cloudcuckooland to Dizzy Heights) - Tilt will likely be next from them.

Maybe that's why the middle two Metroid Primes haven't had a remaster, they haven't hit a big enough anniversary yet...? Echoes has missed 18, 20 and 21, and Corruption would hit 20 year after next... can't be beyond the wit of Retro to retool Prime 4's engine to take their content, can it?

I've always found these games to be extremely difficult. Some reason my mind just cant grasp the idea of how to get the items back to my ship before night time.

@obijuankanoobie I've played them all, and I think he's right. The mechanics are a tiny bit different in each game, but 3 is finely crafted and stays true to the original spirit of Pikmin. Pikmin 4 is good in many ways, but it takes out some of the difficulty and feels a lot less... challenging.

@obijuankanoobie There are free demos of Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Pikmin 4 on the Switch. Give those a try so you can get the hang of the games. You'll have a good time if you can get into the flow

@Sambuc I've never played a Pikmin. Nerrel recommended that 3 is the best entry point do you agree? He also recommended picking it up on wiiu, which I love. Any opinion there?

100% part 3 too recently to replay right now. But still waiting to start 4 once we get that upgrade 👍 🙏 🤞

I’m afraid you lost me at “not hard work” and “drip feed.” Ripping code from the original boards, emulating the peculiarities and dip switches, often including 2 versions (Jpn and Western) of the game, including mappable controls and save states, rapid fire, yoko/taté screen options, online leaderboards, and other features while optimizing/playtesting for several platforms AND all the while working on several titles simultaneously so that they can maintain a game a week release schedule — that does not sound easy to me. They’re not hobbyists dumping stuff onto MAME at their leisure. Nor do I feel a game EVERY WEEK should be construed as a “drip feed.” I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the most prolific publisher on the major platforms!

You’re right in that Capcom’s Arcade Stadium and probably some other collections are cheaper per game, but those are 1st party affairs with no middleman, easily discounted at the IP holder’s discretion. Hamster has brought together hundreds of games selected from pretty much every Japanese arcade developer that’s not Sega or Capcom.

You and I may not have the same sense of value when it comes to these ports, but let’s try to give Hamster some due credit at least.

@Mathieu94 it has the backtracking for missile capacity and fuel tanks whatever they are called. But I have had to get many power ups before I could progress. I just had to get the heat gun to get into the ice biome so you are wrong saying you only backtracking for pointless things imo.

I don't know if other countries have the same problem but in Australia Pikmin 3 new or used is actually hard to find sometimes.

This is the Wii U's best game!

Great game this, but it's not especially performance-dependent. I doubt a smoother frame rate and/or resolution bump is going to drag me back for another play-through.

I already have both Wii U and Switch version so I don't even need the Switch 2 version.
I tried Pikmin 3 just for curious and I still stuck on Final Boss part.

Wasn’t there a rumour of 4 getting a Switch 2 upgrade?

Maybe since Pikmin 3 was for Wii U where you could use the Wiimote to point 'n aim, it was easier/faster to add mouse controls than 4 since it had something similar already?

@ShadLink Super Mario Run, Mario Kart Tour and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp were fully or almost fully developed by Nintendo internally. Doctor Mario World was co-developed by Nintendo.

But those are only mobile games, none of them are ports of console games and none of them would ever come to actually competing hardware.

I'd be down for it, though admittedly I already feel tempted to replay 3 rather than trying out 4 as it is and this wouldn't help.

Pikmin could benefit a lot from mouse controls, so a NS2 version could be interesting.

Tbh, I haven't beaten 2-4 so getting NS2 upgrades would entice me to buy them all (again, in the case of 2 and 3). I had a good time with 2 but got to the part where the game makes you think it's over then you find out it isn't. That was sort of deflating to me, at the time. 3 was great, but I just never got around to beating it on Wii U. As for 4, I haven't bought it yet...

I suppose 3 does come before 4… but still!

@Misima also becuase nintendo caters to a wider age demographic compared to sony and xbox where as they only to target adults with a couple of excpetions thats a big reason ome of there ips woild never have something like a theme park.
