Re: Rumour: Monster Hunter Wilds' Latest Update Has Fans Talking About A Switch 2 Version

@Jeronan weird...because I thought World/IB was the boring one...I struggled to even get through high rank, it took me a few years even to get to master rank after getting the game on PS4. It wasn't difficult, it was just, really really boring...and I kept going back to other games, or even went back to GU/Rise.

Didn't even finish everything in the expansion, I just stopped caring entirely.

@Joeynator3000 I actually had a blast with MH World and the Iceborne expansion was great.

MH Wilds on the other hand was a boring slog. The world was far less interesting, boring even to a point, which was the major cause of my disappointment and why I dropped the game again quickly.
It just didn't click at all.

So if they have to port a MH game to the Switch 2, I rather them porting MH World+Iceborne than WH Wilds.

Nah I'm just messing with you champ, you're a winner

But on a more serious note, and this is aimed at everyone who reads this: there is such a thing as a slippery slope, you are responsible for your actions (as well as your deciding to do nothing in the face of evil), and if you sew the wind you will damn sure reap the whirlwind.

I roll my eyes at fanservice, mainly because of the stigma attached (an association with overweight geeks living in basements) and if it were to disappear from newly created anime and JRPGs tomorrow, it wouldn't have a direct effect on me.

But I'll never support the idea of it being banned, because when it comes to censorship you cannot pick and choose. Liberty and the God-given right of living on your feet instead of on your knees are not a buffet. You're either in support of all freedoms of expression, or you're irredeemably foolish enough to be against all of it - censorship (and all other forms of autocratic tyranny) are insidious; once you give them an inch of ground they'll take a mile, and then they'll take your life. As such, it must be dealt with through absolutism.

(The only exceptions to what I just said are SA - especially involving minors, animal abuse, and non-consensual violence or other forms of non-consentual abuse. And I mean nonfictional instances, FYI.)

I feel like a lot of people are parroting what they heard or saw around launch. That was back in February, and a lot of updates have rolled in since then. The game runs extremely well for me on a low-end modern pc with an Arc B580 GPU with high settings and medium ray tracing, at 1440p without render scaling or frame generation. It also runs acceptably on our old laptop, and has even been rapidly closing in on acceptable Steam Deck performance.
Do I think it could run on Switch 2? Well, they have at least a few more performance improvement patches listed on their current roadmap, so I wouldn't rule it out. If Cyberpunk 2077 (which also initially released in a terribly unoptimized, and I would argue WORSE state) can run on Switch 2, then Monster Hunter Wilds can reach that point also. Still, I also wouldn't be surprised if these "lines of code" are just general additions to the RE game engine.
Aaaannnnd for anyone still with me, yes, the game is fantastic. Tons of quality of life changes have been made to save you time, the weapons have been radically improved to be more fun and satisfying than ever before, the early game is more approachable than ever, and the difficulty of the late game has been steadily growing into the heights that veterans want. I initially preferred Rise, but, after learning the new move-sets, I've fallen in love with it, logged over 350 hours so far, and have absolutely no desire to go back to the previous games.

Re: Guilty Gear Strive Team Provides Update About "Future" Of Nintendo Switch Edition

Dang, that sucks. I had a feeling future support was gonna be iffy after they randomly didn't add the 2 new stages to the Switch version in the last update. Such a shame, cause at a technical level, the port is really solid.

Interesting word choice, though. He mentions how updates "beyond" Version 2.0 are under question, so that makes it sound like Switch will still at least get the initial Version 2.0 update.

If they do a Switch 2 version, hopefully Switch 1 owners will be able to get that for free, or at the very least, with a cheap upgrade pack.

Sure it could come, but this feels more like a left over piece of code from another project.

Much more likely that Rise is getting a Switch 2 edition and the code was simply copied over from that considering they run on the same engine. The Engine itself has probably had some code updated considering all the Switch 2 projects Capcom are working on and it just so happens that Rise is the first game to see this Engine side update.

I wouldn't read much into it. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing considering most considering Rise a much better game

Re: Rumour: Monster Hunter Wilds' Latest Update Has Fans Talking About A Switch 2 Version

Anachronism

My understanding is that this game is absurdly power hungry, often for no discernable reason. It sounds like it should have a lot of room for optimization if Capcom throws enough money and programmers at it, and given it's the biggest black mark on what's mostly been a stellar few years for them, maybe they'll actually put in the effort to fix it.

That said, I will be very surprised if they manage to get a Switch 2 version running with decent visuals and anything approaching a stable frame rate.
