Re: Pikmin 3 Deluxe Nintendo Switch 2 Rating Pops Up Online

I enjoyed Pikmin 3 a ton... for the 15 minutes it lasted. What a ridiculously short game! I was so disappointed that it was just suddenly over before it felt like it really got going. For that reason I doubt I'd buy it on S2, but I'd borrow it from the library I guess.

Edit: If we got a Pikmin 4 S2 Edition, though, I'd buy it in a second. Probably a 1+2 one, too.

a more fitting analogy would be that theyre trying to use a machine gun to cut some veggies just because you could twist some words and put it in the same category as a knife. yeah you can cherry pick and twist logic all you want but in the end nobody wants the end result of sloppily cutting corners that should never be cut.

disappointed but not surprised, level 5 has been pathetic since the 3ds era ended. i played fantasy life i expecting disappointment and still ended up shocked at just how soulless they managed to make it. this is not a company that cares about their games or their audience, and i hope all the time its taken for their big franchises to get new entries results in lower sales. i for one dont like watching my childhood favourite games being weekend at bernies-d

Nintoz

I hope this is part of a wave of new updates, I understand Nintendo wanting to give native Switch 2 versions to games they want to push like Jamboree and Animal Crossing but sprinkling in some smaller-scale resolution/frame rate boosts to a handful of games every now and then would be very welcome!

@Teksette So your Totally fine paying $9.99 for Space Invaders on Switch 2? Btw these aren't ports like Namco used to do with their Namco Museums especially the PS1 ones with the virtual museums it's roms on a emulator, there just doing what make does for free, only there making a mint here $20 if you wanted both Switch 2 versions of Space Invaders 1 and part 2 there's barely any changes between games it's more of a slight update/patch then a sequel for that price you could just could get the Space Invaders Compilation that has 11 games new and old not just the 70s roms, also there's Sega Ages by M2 they were much cheaper and with most releases actually ported the games to new systems adding new game features and improvements, I did like Hamster but they lost me on expecting people to buy any old rom they stick in their emulator for their ridiculous prices...again why does Space invaders a 1978 game need a Switch 2 upgrade? That costs $9.99??

I wish Pikmin 1 and 2 would get proper remakes.

The Switch HD versions have not tempted me much because of their graphical limitations.
I was so disappointed when Nintendo revealed Pikmin 1+2 (HD), because I realized it meant remakes would probably not come anytime soon...
It's just so far from the enchanting visual atmosphere of Pikmin 3 and 4.

I did love Pikmin 1 on GameCube, but that was 24 years ago (yeiks.. almost a quarter of a century), and 3D graphics have come a bit further since then.

True remakes of Pikmin 1 and 2 could ofcourse also enhance and expand the games in other ways as well.

Nintendo survives and thrives on its exclusives because it releases a high comparative volume of them and there are not many duds.

In fairness, Sony has some quality IP but they also have many droughts between releases with long development cycles between announcement and release. Sony survives on multiplat and powerful hardware ..... xbox tried the same but has no unique proposition to win the tech two horse race.

Exclusivity works as proven with high quality and volume.

Ive been coming back for 40 years, so Nintendos exclusivity works for me.

Give it 10-15 years and apart from handheld, hardware will either be dead and buried or on its way out and the only thing that will matter is the games.

As it should and always be.

I'm getting serious Persona fatigue. I think they should be concerned about not killing their brand with too many iterations of the same games. I mean Persona games are already VERY samey so yeah.

More SMT would be wonderful! You want to go for a remake? SMTIV is the best game in the series and the perfect candidate! SMTVI would be very much welcome. Also I'd love to see Metaphor on the NS2.

Just make Persona shut up for a while. For its own good.

@LordPieFace

Thanks for answering my Q on ā€œwhat is the value add?ā€ etc; always appreciate learning something new and especially from a different perspective.

My assumption was that for an artist the ā€œcreating several angles of the same objectā€ felt tedious, and didn’t contribute much to the creative end result. (As I stated, I’m no expert on the topic, and you’re very correct in that I don’t work with animation or art per se. My oldest sister is an accomplished artist, but I’ve mainly seen her paint and sculpt which didn’t help with my ignorance in this regard I would claim I take art seriously however, especially all creative processes leading to the betterment of humankind. I do lack some knowledge but don’t we all.)

@ShadLink No, DeNa as Wikipedia says made the service infrastructure, My Nintendo integration, and development cooperation with Nintendo EPD for Miitomo, Super Mario Run, AC Pocket Camp and Mario Kart Tour and the same with Intelligent Systems and Fire Emblem Heroes. They made PokƩmon Masters together with the PokƩmon Company and PokƩmon TCG Pocket on their own.

Looking at the PEGI site, this looks very much like a free update rather than a Switch 2 Edition. If you search for Breath of the Wild, the Switch 2 Edition is a separate game. If you search for Super Mario Odyssey, there are two release dates listed under the one title. So free upgrade for Pikmin 3 and Switch 2 Edition for Pikmin 4?

Re: Pikmin 3 Deluxe Nintendo Switch 2 Rating Pops Up Online

mlt

I loved pikmin 4 and consider it the best in the series but 3 certainly has its cult following. I still think it would be surprising for them to release 3 before 4. Unless they are going for a full on remake and not an NS2 upgrade. In which case anything is possible. Of course pikmin 3 already had its remake on the NS1 so that would be a bit weird.

Re: Arcade Archives Celebrates 500 Retro Releases With Special Commemorative Game

I don't think 7 quid is an issue, games don't have to be cheaper because they're old, and honestly people that want them almost for free and scoffs at legendary titles doesn't really want to pay for games at all and probably doesn't, they're probably the kind that says "I don't need it, I have an Anbernic".

But I also think that Hamster shouldn't charge 15 for any release, Namco System 22 or whatever, and they should do regular sales across their titles, not only once in months and from a very reduced group of games. After all these years, though, if they didn't change their policy that means that it works for them.

@somnambulance I completely agree with you. Pikmin 3 with co-op Mission Mode is the funnest gaming I’ve ever played. In fact on Christmas Day this year we were getting the platinum medal on the Fortress of Festivity mission mode level and it was as fun as it gets. I hope a Switch 2 version comes out with local wireless co-op. Can you imagine the fun of bingo battle if you couldn’t see the other player’s screen?

60fps @1080p+ needs to happen. And as great as that would be, The NS2 version is still going to pale in comparison to how P3 plays on Wii U with the Wii Remote, Nunchuck & SB, if Motion pointer aiming is your preferred way to play.

It even allows you to use the the Wii U game pad on a kickstand for the map which was a real neat touch. I had a blast with just the few hours I poured into the Wii U version several years ago. But the NS1 demo was a dissapointment purely based on controls. As is, unless I'm mistaken both versions run at 720p + 30fps.

I'd still bite, but it still isn't going to be the clear winner of the two if you were a fan of Pikmin 1, 2 & 3's Wii pointer controls which unfortunately still can't be replicated proplerly using either the Joy-Con 2's as there's no sensor bar(Reference).
Pikmin 1&2 NS are also in desperate need of a 60fps bump. Baffling that Nintendo left them as is at 30fps.

But ya, using the left Joy-con(With a Backside grip for improved comfort) and the right joy-con slotted inside a quality Mouse shell grip to use for Mouse controls, docked, would be a nice bonus. Would love to see how that would play out.

And i can't even play Pikmin 4 at 30fps. 3rd person camera moves so fast, that it makes the motion clarity look smeary and choppy on both my OLED TV & QD Mini-LED.

Could be just a mistake, but I definitely hope it isn't - I've also loved Pikmin 3 (and also other games in the series in their own ways and to different extents, but that's besides the point) so I'd love if people could play it for the first time or replay it in my case at its best on Switch 2!

@MontyCircus What is a TV? A lot of people don't use TVs these days. I only still have a TV for that one day in about 3 months that I play on my PS5. Everything else is on PC or on Switch 2 now.

So yeah, that one device to play all is called a PC. Only it doesn't have Nintendo games. So I still need a second device.

I will not buy a next gen console. XBOX will basically be a PC and PlayStation has been quite underwhelming this and previous generation for games I actually like. I might buy a Steam Machine (if the price isn't too high) or a 'Switch 3'.

One console to buy one eco system, one device in my set up. All games day one.

The "someday-in-the-future" dream is "Gaming TVs", where Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox are just subscription and store apps and there's no boxes necessary. Maybe it's all cloud, maybe the TV would have memory cards you could download onto, etc.
