Remember Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp? In case you missed it, Nintendo delayed it due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
That's why this latest update about this game is a bit of an odd one, as it's not even out yet. Twitter Bot NinStatusBot, which shares information about Nintendo's maintenance and server outages, yesterday tweeted scheduled maintenance for this upcoming release.
The same account goes on to mention how it's part of a group of 20 titles that appear to be "undergoing a server software update" and "around 100 titles every day have scheduled maintenance for this update".
It's not often you see an unreleased game like this featured on this particular Twitter account, but it's definitely got some attention from the Nintendo community on the platform. Unfortunately, though, we apparently shouldn't get too excited:
@NinStatusBot - "It is unlikely that this maintenance can be used to predict when this title will be released."
The last official update from Nintendo regarding Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was delivered in the company's recent financial report where its release date was down as "TBA" (to be announced).
And although it's not actually out yet, it's pretty much been confirmed at this point that the game is fully playable after one Switch user got early access to the game. Nintendo ended up cancelling the purchasing and refunding the user.
Do you think we'll see Advance Wars return before the end of 2022? Is this a sign? Give us your own thoughts and theories in the comment section.

I still think they should have just released it as scheduled.
With all the games coming out from now til December? Yeah, I'm good with continuing to wait for this one 😅
@BenAV Agree. The game should have just been release on time rather then being pushed back due to whatever ***** the world is having. Humans killing other humans isn't anything new.
Big fan of this series and eagerly awaiting for this game's release. I'm just sad that it won't have many players to play it. Just look at how fast the online scene for Groove of War died... : (
I'm hoping they've been making good use of that extra time. That delay that came before the war broke out had me wondering if this may be a little shaky at launch with performance or something. The real question is: are they really going to wait until the war is over to release it?
I can't recall when this was meant to be released, but I think it was pretty close to the start date of the Russian invasion, so I did understand.
While the war has obviously continued, I don't think there would be the backlash releasing the game now.
This and Goldeneye, which is also apparently held up due to the conflict, both could have been altered to distance it themselves from the conflict. Advanced wars could have the Red and Blue colour schemes changed, while Goldeneye could remove mention of Russia and call things 'Secret Enemy Base' type thing.
It reminds me of Top Gun Maverick how the enemy is never referred to by name.
Plus, war games have come out during war times, FPS have come out during times of gun control debate etc, so if wanting to wait for the perfect moment to release a game based on the world, well, you'll never get one.
I’m going to be so p’ed off if this game still has patches after being delayed for over a year.
....Uhhhh, I'm sorry, what?
Unless there's no general Direct in September (which there's a very real possibility given how Nintendo approached this summer so far), this would suggest a late September/early October release. A November or later release would be announced in a general Direct (plenty of times Nintendo's announced games which release 2 months later).
This has just been ridiculous. There are always wars around the world. Of course I care. But these conflicts have literally nothing to do with video games. We've been waiting too long for this release. Please just release it!Thank you.
@papermarioamiibo yep, but not in all the wars you have a videogame with an obvious stereotype of a Russian general as the villain invading a neighboring country with modern artillery. I understand the reasons for Nintendo and the context, doesn't mean I agree with them. But its obvious that in this day and age it would had a big backlash in social media, as this generation tend to make a huge mess out of the smallest things. I understand Nintendo on this one and I'm the biggest Advance Wars fan.
I've been waiting ages for a new game in the series... a bit disappointed its a remake from the first two games... but as long as this gives an opportunity for a comeback... I'm all in for it ... I just can wait until there's a better release date.
It'll have its release date in the next general direct is my guess.
I'm sure this is a non issue. I'd be surprised if this wasn't exacerbated though, by delaying it on presumably ethical grounds then still releasing it during the war ultimately anyway; if indeed this rumor is true.
I can't imagine more people would have been offended by releasing this game on time; than those annoyed/disappointed/put out by this delay and I frankly don't care about people being offended over everything these days. Yes I'm being hyperbolic but still.
@SwitchVogel It doesn't seem likely that they did anything to the game in the mean time, other than possibly censor it in some way. The game was finished and some digital copies even got out at the original launch time. They delayed it to finish, anyway. You shouldn't have less confidence when Nintendo delays a game, you should have more. This isn't a Cyberpunk or Anthem situation.
Imagine being the Big N paying for online servers and maintaining them for an unreleased game..Months, and closing in on a year..
Did Nintendo finally arbitrarily decide that it’s now in good enough “taste” to release the game and realized the people of Ukraine doesn’t care if a videogame war game #14748 came out or not?
@YoshiF2 lmao Triangle Strategy literally had a “Not Russia” country invade neighbor country too and that game dropped in a similar time window that Advanced Wars game would have originally dropped at just fine.
I guess SE didn’t buy into the “people would get offended” social media nonsense and people bought the game anyway without having a hissy fit.
Inb4 “it’s ok because no guns” lol as if there hasn’t been a ton of war gun games out in that window. Btw Traingle Strategy has explosive devices and artillery so there is modern warfare connections anyway
@YoshiF2 It's a shame seeing that vocal minority who just like to complain about anything at any given opportunity get their way and impact stuff like this. The way it should work is Nintendo releasing the game as intended, anyone who finds the topics too sensitive not playing it and the rest of us still getting to enjoy a fun video game.
"It's not often you see an unreleased game like this featured on this particular Twitter account"
Since this "100 titles a day" upgrading started, it looks like there's quite a few question marks in the batch 'maintenance finished' posts. The question marks could potentially be more unreleased games (but can't even try to check without knowing their IDs).
Hopefully when the upgrading finishes, the twitter will post all the question mark IDs.
@Arawn93 did you really compared a medieval war game with a modern warfare game?
LOL.....ok... ridiculous comparison.... it seems you haven’t played the first Advance Wars game. Your comparison doesn’t apply in any way whatsoever.
@BenAV ... true, but maybe Nintendo saw that they already had a packed year and decided to compromise, as they, at the time didn't know where the war was headed. They don't have any rush to release it, it seems.
Please release it already, Nintendo. There isn't a single first-party game through the end of 2022 that I personally am interested in, and I was really looking forward to Advance Wars: Reboot Camp before it got pulled just days before its originally planned release.
At this rate, Metroid Prime 4 will beat it to market.
Im personally sceptical about that rumored February 24 2023 release because that is 1 year on the day Russia invaded Ukraine and that is the reason the game isn't on store shelves
@CharlieGirl I'm genuinely curious as to what games you mean. This year seems to have been very lean on releases and I can't think of anything on the radar for the second half.
I really don't understand how there are still people unsure why Nintendo didn't release their light-hearted and fluffy take on a situation where a parody of Russia suddenly invaded another country sparking a huge war, during the period where Russia suddenly invaded another country starting a huge war.
Yeah we all want this game, I had it pre-ordered since the day they opened. But come on, it's getting a bit beyond wilful ignorance now. Have some respect please.
Just release it Nintendo. It was a really bizarre decision to delay it in the first place. There were wars when you released other Advance Wars games. There will always be war.
Regardless of whether or not it should have been released as scheduled, I think they can do with finally releasing it. At least before the end of the year. They can't keep postponing it for the war or it won't come out for a good while still.
@KBuckley27
If thats an actual date by them it’s so they can announce another delay that will be permanent.
I'm ok waiting. I think it's honourable what they are doing.
The game was delayed because it portrayed a Russian-like country as the villains.
Well...
@Arawn93 triangle strategy launched like a week later so it would have been very hard to cancel it and likely a fruitless endeavour as the game would have gotten out anyway. Plus triangle strategy doesn’t open with the Russian stand in forcefully taking over another country with military weapons
"Imagine being the Big N paying for online servers and maintaining them for an unreleased game..Months, and closing in on a year.." Seems like something weird enough for Nintendo to do. Maybe it's soley for Nintendo staff who have been playing the game early, lol
This war is not going to end this year, nor in 2023, now it's quite obvious. No point in delaying it further
Nintendo... has proven to me that they have a very passive-aggressive way of calling out leaders on world issues, yet I think it's much more commendable than coming out and saying it through a PR statement. Nintendo has acknowledged the war in Ukraine, COVID-19, and most recently they stood up against the Japanese government with Splatoon 3 and their same-sex relationship policy. They don't fire shots or start protests or get super defensive by using censorship. They just prove it.
As much as I think this game isn't a big enough deal to be delayed, I think Nintendo has taken a lot of consideration in the past months in regards to their PR situation. They can be anti-consumer, but they are also anti-conflict.
This game was top of my Christmas list, but now it's not even in my top ten.
I don't really understand Nintendo's logic, but since they made this decision they have to stick to it until they can justify why the time is now right.
Nintendo should stop trying to please minorities, it turns to political.
I'm still sad to see people not knowing why this game was delayed, thinking a war near Europa with the invador Russia parodied in Advance Wars is not a big deal for Nintendo's reputation.
I've been waiting years for this game. Well a sequel to the original games really., But i'll take whats I can get.
Its the only nintendo game on my shopping list.
Well Modern Warfare is far more realistic game and i dont see it getting posponed so think 6 months delay is respectful as ti gets
It’s a joke this game was postponed to begin with. Has there been an ounce of controversy surrounding the new CoD game during its marketing campaign?
@larryisaman @dimi does the new CoD start with a stereotypical Russian army invading a neighboring country? If the answer is yes, controversy is sure to ensue. If the answer is no, then the comparison doesn’t apply.
I almost wonder if there's going to be extra bonus content that wasn't originally planned now, given how much time has passed since the original delay. Imagine if, after you beat both games, you unlock an extra remake of the original Famicom Wars or something. Something like that would make the delay worth it, at least in my mind.
@alexybubble
Like that idea.
I don’t think sturm is a stereotypical russian? Yes i know theres the blue moon army, but they are not the main enemy..
@YoshiF2 “Your comparison doesn’t apply in no way whatsoever”
Double negative… so it does apply?
@Markiemania95 fixed
@YoshiF2
We had 20 years worth of videogames about wars/conflicts in the middle east DURING a war in the MIDDLE EAST and nobody gave a crap.
It's laughable to think that a cartoon strategy game with rainbow characters is somehow hitting too close to home this time 😂
@KillerBOB 1) was social media prominent 20 years ago? Were people able to complain back then like we are able now?
2) has there been a video game that depicts almost exactly an ongoing war or conflict (or at least during its first year without controversy?)
3) was that video game rated E?
4) was that game on a Nintendo console?
5) are there other video games that dare touch the subject of an invasion to a neighboring country by a Russian villain right now?
6) were those generations so touchy about social/political matters before?
7) Were there video games where you could crash planes 9/11 style in the first year after it happened?
If almost all of those answers are no, well, you can understand where Nintendo’s stand is.
Cartoony or not, you’ll always find someone on Twitter complaining “won’t somebody think of the children?”
Also, here’s a list of how a worldwide conflict affected video games 20 years ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/kcbzf/how_911_affected_video_games/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
It’s not the first time nor the first video game NOR the first Advance Wars being delayed by world events.
It's gone AWOR: Absent WithOut Release.
@Tangerine
It’s not about being offended it’s about being respectful.
It's a bit like delaying Railroad Simulator XY due to climate change concerns...
@Grumblevolcano ND in September after Splatoon 3 seems like a must to me. I think the Switch's next big game after that is Bayonetta 3 so a 7 week window. BotW 2 is supposed to be 2023 and I feel like we haven't seen much of that, got to get those pre-orders rolling. Plus whatever else is coming next year. Maybe we finally get the Players Choice/Select line 6 years after launch. Who's paying $60 for Splatoon 2 after Splatoon 3 releases? And BotW could use a price cut to at least make the "complete edition" $60 ahead of 2.
Probably too soon for Switch 2 news but I feel pretty good about a full real ND in mid to late September, they need to announce MK8 Switch bundles for Black Friday for the 3rd, or 4th, time.
@FatWormBlowsASparky That's one interpretation. Another far more likely is 'big company' is scared of potential backlash by the perpetually offended who we shouldn't give an inch to, because they will never be placated. If you think huge global companies are noble, moral entities, I don't know what to tell you. Believe what ever you wish though. I know I will continue to think it's a hugely pointless endeavour to delay this cartoony tactics war GAME due to world events.
@rjejr I feel it's a "would be nice but not guaranteed". September general Directs generally cover September - March so a Partner Showcase could solve the 3rd party side, Bayonetta 3 could get its own Direct like Bayonetta 2 did, TPC does their own thing so Scarlet/Violet would be twitter drops up to launch and any unannounced 1st party stuff for that window could be twitter drops. Then a big general Direct in January/February.
I think it all comes down to when in Spring BotW 2 releases.
It's to appear in the news....and remind us that this game still exists.
On Nintendo Switch I wanna only 2 games: Mario + Rabbids 2 and Advance Wars 1+2.
I don´t like Zelda games, Bayonetta kind of game, Pokemon games and i won´t buy Splatoon 3 (no offline battle against bots = no replay value for me....because i won´t renew NSO...).
So...till the end of this year...only Mario + Rabbids 2.....and maybe....the new Taiko no Tatsujin only.
@Dizzymario
Tell me you didn't play Triangle Strategy without telling me you didn't play Triangle Strategy.
The inciting incident of the game is literally the snowy northern nation attacking its southern neighbors. That country, Aesfrost, has peopled named things like "Svarog" and has people dressed like this:

Removed - unconstructive; user is banned
For a moment I got excited and throught I'd missed the launch. I'd enjoy that game right now.
Well the hype for this game was all but destroy when Nintendo choose to delay it for the second time. Also with other tactical games coming out soon (DioField Chronicle, Tactics Ogre Reborn, Metal Slug Tactics, Front Mission 1st & 2nd, Marvel's Midnight Sun, etc.), almost everyone had move on from this.
@Knightrider1 I'd say screw removing references to Russia.
@YoshiF2 Back in the late 90's/early 00's, Red Alert 1, 2 (plus its DLC, Yuri's Revenge) and at least one other Command & Conquer game featured stereotypical Russians as the antagonist. We weren't too far removed from the Soviet Union and the general "what if" scenario was still China and Russia being the enemies of the world. I don't remember anyone caring back then, least not to the point where anyone in control actually cared, lol.
Really wish this helicopter generation would move on and realize there are more important things in life than possibly offending someone. Everyone has to walk on egg shells today and it's a pain in the ass.
@KillerBOB Kind of a stupid time to insult people with pronouns in their bios, totally irrelevant and seems like you're more the one unnecessarily concerned with it.
@CharlieGirl Couldn't agree more. Xenoblade alone is dominating my time.
@Kilroy well, that’s because we didn’t had the means of communicating massively with people in social media during the 90s/00s. That’s one of the reasons maybe you couldn’t hear that many people complaining. We can’t compare those times with these times with the argument “back then, no one complained”… because we only had our closest circle of people to hear their opinions.
Also, if you see the link I posted, the cover for Red Alert 2 was modified exactly because of a Russian wearing a patch with the twin towers in flames in it. You should give it a read, it’s interesting.
Worldwide events affect video games more than we think.
@Grumblevolcano "I think it all comes down to when in Spring BotW 2 releases."
Considering it's a sequel that started as DLC to a now 5+ yo old game you would think they could have it ready by March to boost those year end sales number up until March 31st, but June wouldn't surprise me since they can't even get this 2 pack of ports out.
They haven't had a real Direct since February.
2021 was a slow covid year and they still had 3 last year.
Feels like they need 1 this fall. Bayo 3 could still get a mini if they want but they need a full Direct to get people in a buying mood for the holiday and excited for next year as Switch gets long in the tooth. This year was epic for Switch, maybe the best yet including the release year, but they need more for next year besides BotW2. What I don't know, which is kind of why I think they need this Direct.
https://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct/archive/
@YoshiF2 Ah, I somehow missed your latest comment with the link. Whoops.
Even so, I'm not so sure that edit was entirely necessary because it wasn't the Russians who took out the twin towers and yes, it may be painful to a small minority of Americans who were directly affected, but that was a fantasy setting showing Russians were going against Americans and wanted to attack the nation directly. That's advertising plot and is arguably integral to sales.
Moving on from mourning and the past is a natural stage of grief and also healthy. If everyone attempted to make sure we never offended anyone, people would be artificially sensitized to everything and have nothing but stress (or if they're not stressed but still complain, they're either selfish and malicious or are trying to speak for people they don't relate to (i.e. acting like Karens/Chads)).
History has shown that when given the chance, the masses will complain for the sake of having something to do and all this censorship is feeding into that.
@BenAV
Blame horrible "game journalist" sites like kotaku and gamerant. They are the trash vocal minority that is offended by everything and would have wrote a very clickbaity article about advance wars and the blue moon invasion, even though they SHOULD know better because they're "gamers" and someone at some point should have played the GBA original.
Who actually cares though? The game looks like a cheap DS remake. Not even close to what a remake should look like by today's standards
what is there to maintain?
@Arpie you read my mind. Totally agree with you
Sadly, this game just won't sell anymore as its time on the hype train has long passed. I doubt it will ever see the light of day at this point. Maybe they can just drop it in the NSO Expansion Pack?
@Kilroy I agree... sometimes it gets ridiculous. Me pointing out this stuff doesn't mean I agree with AW being delayed. It's just that I try to analyze the context and the reasons why this game specifically was delayed. I understand, I partially agree, but I understand.
And having played these games before and being a huge AW fan, I can see why Nintendo is waiting for the public opinion to calm down to see what to do with it.
It's exactly the same as Warner Bros / DC with Ezra Miller and the Flash ...... they won't say what they're going to do with the movie until the dust settles with the actor and the public opinion.
That's the closest example I can think of.
They'll release the game eventually. It being a remake makes the waiting bearable since I already played those games before.
It seems we've run out of sympathy. A very stark contrast to what people were saying when the delay was first announced. Go back to the original match article and check the comments there...it seems now that we've felt a bit of a pinch ourselves empathy is in much shorter supply.
If you can't release this game because there's a war in real life happening, then this game can never be released.
Ironically I only want this to be released so we can get a remake of Dual Strike quickly after.
It doesn't look like I'll get my wish anytime soon though.
@ATaco That's true, but some excellent points were also made. It doesn't stop CoD or BF games from releasing like clockwork and it actively depicts conflicts between actual nations, so why such a heavy-handed approach here?
Im so sick of waiting. Just give us the fracking game
Not releasing a cartoon war game just because a new war happened in a part of the world makes no sense. No video game company has ever had a problem releasing the tons of realistic war games over the years despite wars going on all the time.
They should have just released it on schedule. Hopefully they'll schedule a release date soon because it makes no sense to continue to hold it off.
@Nin10doh
Personally I don't care what games do or don't release during times of war. I was just making commentary about how people are being a lot more vocal about wanting the game now than they were a few months ago. In fact the original article mentioning the delay wound up having its comment section locked once people started making comments like the one I'm seeing here. Now it looks like public opinion has completely flipped and it almost feels like this was all just another TikTok trend that everyone has gotten over.
@Tangerine Well said, I'm tired of people reaching and grasping straws to state what they consider to be obvious, when the only obvious thing is how this is video game with no real grounding in reality with fictional characters and nations. Any attempt to relate it to anything going on in the world is entirely on the people making such comparisons, and the entire situation shows off how easily people can justify anything if they perform the necessary mental gymnastics.
...and you know what? I share your feelings on how I am at the point where I couldn't care less about how offended or outraged these people are by anything anymore. Some people seem to find ways to constantly get offended and outraged by anything, no matter how innocent, because they want to get attention and feel accepted by the outrage crowd for cancelling it or something.
I just want to play a new entry in a video game series that I really enjoyed playing, why is that so much to ask for? Why am I suddenly having to battle it out with controlling political types to have that?
@ATaco Well that's the nature of our modern day political outrage culture, it's always just people jumping on the latest trendy thing to be upset over, and naturally it's an extremely fickle crowd who is quick to move on to the next popular thing to be upset over.
Surprise surprise, the kinda people who were quick to defend this delay for a dopamine hit on social media are quick to give up their crusade against this game's release as soon as social media told them to get upset at something else for whatever reason.
Giving in to this crowd is always a bad idea, and it's no surprise how people who actually had a genuine interest in the game are getting more vocal about the whole situation, as they're the only people who truly cared the entire time.
It's easy to say "eliminate this thing other people care about" when you have no attachment or appreciation for that thing. The details on why it needs to be eliminated don't matter when you never had any reason to care about it in the first place.
I guess at the end of the day I just don't see how not releasing a finished game helps anybody. There are certainly Ukrainian fighters that have switches that want to play this in their down time. What about respecting those peoples wishes? It's a two way street.
Removed - flaming/arguing
@YoshiF2 lmao nice to know you didn’t play Triangle Strategy either and ignored half my post. Noticing a running theme here with the defenders here.
Your argument literally has no support whatsoever. Next time actually play the game first before assuming what kind of game it is.
Btw it’s not all “medieval combat” and there is a literal Russia caricature country invading neighbor. Also there are weapons that are the equivalent of modern artillery as a plot point if you actually played the game. Now your gonna bury your head in the sand again and continue spouting ignorance
@Masharu-Law because it’s sad that there people such as yourself that heavily downplay the Ukraine situation that you think the populace gives a single **** about a videogame releasing or not. Plenty of more “realistic modern” war games dropped in the timeframe and Triangle Strategy had similar “Russia invades” premise [the main complaint that people like Yoshi here are trying to spout in a desperate attempt to sound relevant] and was received just fine.
If Nintendo actually wanted to help the Ukraine effort it would be sending a portion of their sales to relief not delaying the game for an arbitrary amount of time unit “it’s ok” to release
What is the excuse gonna be from the peanut gallery here now when the game finally drops and Russia/Ukraine is still far from resolved? Because guess what? It’s not ending anytime soon. Ultimately making this “respectful gesture” a waste of time.
@SwitchVogel Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp development is complete, Nintendo is just waiting for the Russian war on Ukraine to end to release the game.
@Mando44646 for Arceus sake have empathy, theres a war on Ukraine going now.
@zool for Arceus sake have empathy, we have a serious war in Ukraine going now.
@Arawn93 lmao... yes ... sure dude. Next time you compare a game with magic, spells, FREAKING MAGES, FIRE MASTERS, DANCERS and a fantasy setting versus a real life conflict, text me. Just because its a game that includes politics doesn't mean it is comparable. Also, youre telling me the Deathknell, a giant cannon, is, in a way, comparable to modern warfare? LMAO!!!
And as someone already told you, Triangle Strategy released a week after the conflict. There is no way to delay a game like that as it was already shipped to retailers. AW was scheduled to release on April 8.
You're making a clown of yourself.
@JayJ Cheers and well said yourself dude :]
@Giancarlothomaz not everyone sees the connection between the war and a cartoon style game being pulled, while many war games are available. I'm playing Crisis, should I stop?
@BenAV "Vocal minority"? "Sensitive"? If anything, you're being rude and insensitive for not realizing why this delay needed to happen. Instead of demanding Nintendo to release this game at a bad time and possibly burn whatever chance this IP had of rebooting, you could simply be patient and wait. You'll survive without Advance Wars in 2022, lol.
@Thief I don't care that much about the series and will likely skip it if/when it eventually does come out at this point anyway but I disagree that it needed to happen.
@Giancarlothomaz Not sure why that's relevant. Cartoony tanks aren't applicable to a real war. And it certainly doesn't stop CoD or other war games from releasing.
And why is Ukraine special? There are always wars. Did Nintendo worry about Afghanistan or Iraq? Or what about Yemen currently? Palestine?
@Thief Fact is this delay never needed to happen. It was completely unnecessary. There are realistic FPS war games that actually have Russia in their games, featuring a plot line where Russia invades someone for whatever reason, and they never pulled them from sale. Heck a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare game is going to drop soon, something that is far more realistic and far closer to the war in Ukraine going on right now, and they have no plans to delay or cancel it's launch.
I don't think delaying a cartoony turn based strategy game forever is going to in any way benefit the war effort, nor is anybody going to care about the continued delay besides the people who are fans of the series who simply want to play it. I also doubt that Ukrainians are going to get outraged about this game releasing, or would even care to acknowledge that, because they got far more important things to worry about. In fact just about everyone has completely forgotten about this game besides the fans and the few people such as yourself who crawl out of the woodwork to defend this game being delayed forever, as you attempt to shame anyone who simply wants to play a video game because politics.
Come on guys, stick to the facts. Not accepting Russia's fault here it's like ***** on someone and not understanding why this person is mad at you. You're just a band of lunatics who doesn't understand a damn thing about how huge this is (we almost entered World War 3) as it's concerns a country on Europa's border, not a country with terrorism or something like that like. I don't think neither Nintendo or anybody care about selling its products in countries like Yemen, Afghanistan or Iraq, because it's just impossible for decades, war or not.
So tell me @JayJ, can you tell me a game other than Advance Wars released between february and april to have a parodia of Russia on war? Your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II coming soon has nothing to do with that by the way, you're maybe someone from Al-Qaeda and not happy with how you're depicted as "terrorist" in this game lol...
@Arawn93 can you not read the word “beginning”? I played through the entirety of TS by the way but it’s not surprising that the ignorant people on this site would assume otherwise.
@JayJ @BenAV The game literally has a part where a faction that is heavily influenced off of Soviet Russia is invading another area - eerily similar to what was going on right now in Ukraine and something you're either intentionally ignoring or simply never knew because you didn't play the original game. Had Nintendo released Reboot Camp in April, it would have drawn major criticisms for those similarities and any chance they would have to successfully reboot this IP would have died then and there. At least this way they can prevent that from happening, iron out any bugs still left in the game, possibly add even more content, and have a better shot of getting more entries in the future. It's absurd that anyone is getting upset over this since the game isn't canceled and there are plenty of other titles you can play in the meantime.
Every one of the sober "there's always a war somewhere" comments here, while correct, would have gotten blasted, downvoted, moderated, and possibly banned if it was made in February of 2022. Tension was very high in all realms of commerce and media in that moment, even if it was performative or self-serving. Politicians in my area managed to get vodka pulled from the shelves of liquor stores to punish Russia. Vodka!!
So Nintendo read the room, is what I'm saying. Now it's a tricky matter of fitting the game into a release schedule somewhere such that they still maximize its sales. I won't pretend to know what the best time for it is.
@swoose So because some people are heavy-handed authoritarians, their notions are therefore to be defended? Yeah, that's not exactly good logic there. When things don't make sense, they get called out for not making sense. Seems like we're at this point where people keep doubling down on defending this kinda thing, regardless of how pointless it's been proven to be, out of pride or something. I'm just at the point where it's like I couldn't care less about your personal problems with this whole situation, I just want to play a video game and not have to hear about people moaning about politics and wars like that should always have an impact on what video games I should be allowed to play.
