Update #2 [Fri 15th Apr, 2022 03:00 BST]: This copy of the game can no longer be accessed, and Nintendo has also asked the same Switch user to remove footage and screenshots of the title from social media.
"Nintendo got in touch about the screens and clips, so they're gone and I won't be posting anymore. I'm hopeful that the game will be out soon for everyone though. Maybe? #AdvanceWars"
Update [Thu 14th Apr, 2022 04:45 BST]: Well, it seems this accidental early access period is now over. The same Twitter user provided an update, revealing how Nintendo was supposedly cancelling the purchase of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp and would be providing a refund.
"[email protected] - RE: #AdvanceWars, Nintendo have sent an email saying they're cancelling my purchase and refunding. was fun while it lasted! got a few missions of the first game's campaign done"
"RE: #AdvanceWars again, I'm aware they can't revoke my ability to play it if I'm offline. at the same time, once they refund me for it, it would be illegal to still play... so there's that..."
Although the Switch user was only able to play through a "few missions" of the first game's campaign, there was some additional footage and screenshots of the upcoming release.
Original article [Sun 10th Apr, 2022 03:00 BST]: A Nintendo Switch owner who preloaded a copy of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has apparently been granted access to the full digital version of the game. Twitter user @killetheth shared a look at the game's opening and tutorial segment across a series of tweets:
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was delayed again by Nintendo last month due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. It was meant to be released this week on 8th April.
Have you had any luck accessing a digital copy of this game early from the Switch eShop? Tell us down below.

I say release it already then. If people's got their hands on it now, you might as well.
It was delayed due to the war in Ukraine right? Somebody forgot to do something clearly
It's seems to not be on the NA eshop anymore...
Dammit, Nintendo. Just release the bloody game already. I doubt we’ll be seeing Activision recalling all Call of Duty games from shelves or delaying this year’s inevitable instalment either.
They really should just release it then. That's going to ruin alot for everyone else nor' is it fair..
I so want this full time released.
As well as Putin to throw in the towel on his insane war on Ukraine.
Did they... forget to delay the preload copy?? So weird, this. But yeah may as well just release it at this point...
It's quiet... Too quiet.
Lets not forget that the alternative to Advance Wars, Wargroove, is out on Switch and so on. I know they did it out of respect with irl events and I respect that… but when a concept of a game like Advance Wars is out in some form, people gonna go for it anyway in the face of it all.
Maybe it was a mistake?
It was probably the right move to delay but this series really is cursed.
At this point, it might be better just to relase the game rather then keep making PR statements.
@nessisonett Still seems silly that a saturday morning cartoon depiction of war that's set in a vaguely modern fictional setting needed to be delayed, but a brutal war drama like Triangle Strategy was good to go because the setting is medieval.
I guess the more amazing thing is that Nintendo was publishing two games within a month or so of the war that involved countries being invaded.
Delayed because it wasn't ready then delayed again just for PR and now this. Whole release has been a bit of a mess and I'm gradually losing interest in playing it at all. I've had the physical copy preordered since it was announced but will probably cancel soon if they hold off for too much longer.
They should really just release it. It's not like delaying the release is doing any good.
Lol wow, unbelievable. God dammit Nintendo, GIVE US THIS GAME! 😭
Finally an argument for pre-purchase of a digital game.
They could release it and donate 20% of the profit to Ukraine, that way everyone wins except Putin the warmonger.
@andyg1412 yeah thats what i would think after what Epic Games did with Fortnite
Everyone’s reverted back to childhood seeing another kid with a toy they can’t have 😝
@Ralizah It’s probably more to do with Blue Moon being stereotypical Russians than just the general wargame idea.
@patbacknitro18 That's really not how this works. Launch logistics are set well in advance - you can't just change them on a whim because a copy leaked.
Maybe Nintendo should seize all copies of Advance Wars on the DS out of respect for Ukraine. I respect Ukraine and the immense difficulties they’re facing but this is a cartoon games FFS. There’s Tiny Tanks and all sorts of war games on the Switch and other consoles which are still being sold. I understand the sentiment but I don’t think it’s really that relevant unless the game is referencing Ukraine

stand with ukraine.
@Entrr_username yeah, I looked it up after. It's not on the Switch eShop(it's not even in my Wishlist anymore even though I added it previously) but on the site directly, it is. Still cannot pre-purchase it though...

So they delayed this game because of Russian invasion but the GBA and DS Advance Wars are still selling on Wii U eShop. I hope the rumored Goldeneye isn’t held back too because of the war over there.
Delaying a cartoony game for having a military theme was, IMHO, just a stupid mistake on Nintendo's part to try and avoid negative PR that would not have happened anyway (and if it did, a huge percentage of overall videogame titles including many that are vastly more graphic and photo realistic would have had to join it). Nobody whose life doesn't revolve around creating "controversy" to suck the joy out of everyone else's would link Advance Wars to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and even if such individuals did crawl out from under their rocks they're not worth listening to because they wouldn't have bought the game anyway.
Fix this mistake and just get this game a firm and FINAL release date, Nintendo (preferably SOON as I had it preordered and am anxious to play it, especially the multiplayer).
Well that guy is gonna face the wrath of Nintendo's attorneys soon.
@KnightRider666 you're suffering right now? You have to wait a little while longer to play a video game.

@DogDetective Whoa hey Will Vinton Mark Twain as a profile pic? Deep cut, man! That’s one of my favorite movies ever.
@ATaco Yeah, I am. And so are others.
This is not the first time Russia has done something scummy.
In Russia if your a part of a certain religion then they arrest you and throw you into jail. Pretty scary.
I'm so confused by which topics get comments locked and which don't? Certainly this one should have never been unlocked.

I honestly think Nintendo should just release the game.
They could have released it with no marketing, a little like Ubisoft did with Rainbow Six Siege after the Paris attacks.
But either way, I think it’s right to be sensitive in these situations. We’ve got plenty of games to play
Delay never made much sense to me anyway. I’m still researching a link between the Russian invasion of Ukraine and this game being put on sale. Still not found anything. I thought society had moved past the whole video games are bad for the kids thing. Turns out I was wrong and apparently according to whoever made this decision we aren’t intelligent enough being to separate cartoon video games from real life!
Things like this used to happen a lot on Steam as I recall, which is why I no longer buy digital stuff with preload. So I'll have no problem waiting for the physical copy.

@DiamondJim I agree this feels like a pointless gesture holding this back. More a PR stunt imo

As long as he doesn't outright spoil the rest of the game, I think it's ok. He's probably over the moon right now.
@Silly_G Lol, so you want Nintendo to adopt Activision values? Interesting.
Yes it's just a video game. Which is precisely why we should be more ok with it being delayed than it being released considering the events going on.
