Update: There's even more good news, too, as the partnership is also set to bring Torchlight II to brand-new platforms. Panic Button is "working on an enhanced version" of the ARPG dungeon crawler which "will launch on consoles this fall".
Original Article: Switch port wizard Panic Button has been hard at work on a new game for the Nintendo Switch thanks to a partnership with publisher, Perfect World Entertainment, it has been confirmed. And that's on top of its work on Wolfenstein: Youngblood.
The release in question is Hob: The Definitive Edition, an "immersive atmospheric single-player adventure" which originally launched on PC and PS4 back in 2017 courtesy of Runic Games. A press release today states that "Panic Button has taken everything that fans loved about the original game and developed a version exclusively for Nintendo Switch, featuring improved controls and game features". Here's an overview of the game:
Hob: The Definitive Edition is an artfully crafted single-player adventure which sends gamers on a mysterious, breathtaking journey through the ruins of a lost civilization, where they will encounter strange creatures and unlock satisfying puzzles hidden throughout the world. The team at Panic Button has developed a version of the game for Nintendo Switch that provides adventurers with brand new ways to unravel the mysteries of Hob. This includes added camera controls, improvements to the game’s UI, a variety of quality-of-life improvements and new features only possible on the Nintendo Switch system, including HD rumble and touch screen functionality.
Hob: The Definitive Edition launches very soon indeed, hitting Switch on 4th April for $19.99. You can go ahead and pre-order the game from the eShop today at 10% off.
Panic Button's recent Switch efforts - such as DOOM, Wolfenstein, and Warframe - have gone down very nicely indeed with critics and fans alike. Hopes will no doubt be high for this new port, too.

Looks hot (gets coat, leaves).
Interested because of Panic Button.
Instant buy for sure!
When Panic Button speaks people listen. However remind me again, why APRIL!!! 😭😭
Gosh, I wonder why they kept that one so quiet? Looks good!
So, is this game like RiME? Because I loved that game. Looks similar, but it's hard to know for sure from the short video.
And man, if Panic Button is doing it, that definitely sounds pretty promising...
To continue my poem from yesterday, this is yet another way to love Panic Button.
Man, this is exciting, and we don't have long to wait either! April is absolutely nuts for Switch games. Here's hoping I can carve out the time to check this one out, since I've heard so many good things about it.
Need physical option.
How about you bring us Torchlight 1 and 2?
Give me a physical and yup it’s mine
This looks good. Haven’t heard of it but puzzles and a lil bit of combat is a win win.
Almost got this on PS4, glad I waited
Looks fantastic!
Hell yeah! Now if you don't mind can you bring torchlight 2 to the switch?
Jesus christ. April...
This, Katana Zero, Mechstermination Force, Cuphead, Steamworld Quest...
When will the list end?
Really surprised when I first heard that Runic was going for a game like this, so now I'm just excited to get to play it.
Looks really nice !
@Bunkerneath @SwitchForce ditto. Physical and they have me
I played this on PS4 and think it's a total hidden gem, i enjoyed it from start to finish so highly recommend it to everyone. It's such a shame Runic Games were shut down after this game was finished, i'd have loved a sequel.
@Scottwood101
And Darksiders 2, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Dragon's Dogma, Mortal Kombat XI, Final Fantasy XII, all in addition to Cuphead, Steamworld Quest, Hob, and the other games you mentioned.
And the kicker is there's more we're forgetting lol
HOB? As in from the creators of Torchlight? As in the original creators of Diablo?
I am down.
Amazing game!... Already have it on PS4 - worth the $19 and more.
Amazing game, played it on PS4 so won't bother with it again - too much other stuff to play. Very highly recommended for those who haven't played it!
So this is why we haven’t been hearing much about them- they’ve been busy. Trailer looks awesome this will be a purchase eventually. Once I finish Yoshi and HK... I should probably take care of more backlog 😬
'immersive atmospheric single-player adventure'
Colour me very interested.
Looks gorgeous.
Yeees!!! Very exciting news - given that it's development studio folded shortly after creating it I figured Hob would never be ported elsewhere. The Switch seems like a perfect home. Assuming it's a good port, I'll be picking this up at release.
Well this looks lovely!
Switch is unstoppable!
Looks like RiME, has shades of Bastion, and seems to be a puzzle platformer. I like what I see, so I'll keep tabs on this.
Is it just me or does the style of the world remind you of Breath of the Wild? Like the landscapes have some of the same dreary and forlorn look and then the mechanical things have blue accents that seem reminiscent of the technology in BOTW. Not saying that's a bad thing, just something I noticed.
I`m interested, but April? They really should`ve waited one more month, unless May and June are just as fantastic in terms of new games..
I got to play this game and I have to say it was really good. I definitely recommend it, as it's one that wasn't talked about but had a really solid set of puzzles and a nice atmosphere to the world.
From what I recall, HOB made the PS4 creak and stutter when it was launched. However, given that this is a Panic Button port, they’ll probably improve the original code and make it work better than the original! I am down for this.
It looks like Rime but actually good
@janpampoen Pretty sure Torchlight 2 was announced for Switch
They might as well rename themselves But It Now Button, that's how awesome their reputation is with Switch owners.
@joeyac02 @janpampoen Torchlight 2 was just announced a few hours ago along with news of Hob. It'll be released in the autumn, it's an enchanced version and it's also being done by Panic Button.
Panic Button is always welcome
Damn this looks cool. Gonna have preorder tonight.
@janpampoen "II"... On the way

I heart Panic Button. Day 1 for me
My poor, poor wallet. This looks really nice.
@Agramonte - And suddenly this became a very good day. Hopefully there is an offline play so we can host local dungeon crawls.
I already played it on PS4 and I liked it very much. It's not a very deep game, but it's simple gameplay and atmosphere is really cool. I believe it took me about 12 hours to finish.
@janpampoen They are. Well 2.
@Agramonte Please be physical. And also throw in the original Torchlight...
@PhilKenSebben Whoooooooo!
Oh snap! Torchlight II coming also!
@OorWullie just gonna continue wishing for the of Torchlight as well...
For anyone that likes Diablo-style games and hasn't played it, Torchlight 2 is an awesome game!
Torchlight 2 is a big win for Switch. Shame it's not a TL1&2 pack, but awesome nonetheless.
Yes torchlight 2! Freaking awesome
Torchlight 2?! Ok it’s official the switch is my favorite system.
Torchlight 1 and 2 Please. It's great news – but always a shame when they break the series up. Torchlight 1 is a great game too.
Torchlight 2 looks cool too- had to find a video for it. It will be a nice addition to Switch and awesome that it’s launching with other console versions.
OMG Torchlight II very unexpected! It's a long time I wait for a sequence. It's a diablo-like game very underrated and better than Diablo 3 for me.
Impossible, panic must stop create ports.... or soone I will enter in bankrupt and my daughters will sleep under the bridge.... this is insane... Every launch is a must wanted...
i have TL2 on PC but didn't play very far in. I liked it but it's just what I do.
for the right price i may would pick it up on switch.
that hob game looks nice as well.
probably won't be buying anything though for a while since the backlog is enormous and i want to see if this switch pro thing comes about and if so how N transfers purchases and back-compat and all of that.
I know they have said they want to work on their own games but honestly they would be set just doing switch versions of games for a few years.
As much as I love the work Panic Button do, I need to remember that they're just porting games here. Meaning these games aren't automatic buys for me just because I know PB are brilliant at what they do - which isn't really making original games at this point.
***Must temper expectations Kieran****
Thanks everybody for the positive reviews on Hob. It looks like my wish list just got longer.
If they can get this Physical release then Torchlight II isn't far behind. As that will also be a seller on Switch but in Physical form.
Hob = Like Zelda, really nice game
May double down on Torchlight 2. Isn't there a third one either released or in development?
coulda sworn Hob was already on Switch. hyped to high heaven for Torchlight 2, absolutely stellar game. definitely double dipping
Considering how poorly Hob ran on the PS4, which I’m not sure if it was ever completely fixed, I’ll definitely pass on it for Switch.
I’ll get Torchlight II on day one though.
