A LEGO Lord of the Rings Game is Definitely Happening

Posted by James Newton

One does not simply code into Mordor

After years of rumours and hushed whispers, it's finally official: there will be a LEGO Lord of the Rings game.

New figures based on Peter Jackson's movies contain flyers for the game, according to MCV, who led with the leak of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes earlier this year.

No word on which formats the game will come to but with a rumoured October release ahead we'll take a wild guess and say Wii, DS, 3DS and Wii U, or any combination of the four.

Cutscenes could be the most LEGO fun i've had yet. Know this series the best out of all the ones they've used so far.
But since the gameplay will most likely be the same as in the other games i don't think i'll shell out more than 25€ for a WiiU version. Even less for a 3DS or Wii version.

Its been on's pre-order list for last couple of months curiously. Started a thread on the forums asking about it too. Thanks for the great news. Lego Batman 2 sounds like it could actually be brilliant as well. Huge fan of the video game franchise and , admittedly, LEGO itself!

oh god why? the first lego starwars was good, but since then, all the lego games have gotten worse.

I'm getting this. Don't care if it's bad or not, it's Lord of the freaking Rings.

@Retro_Hype That's because it was Eidos that made the first one. After that, they haven't had a hand in any of the other Lego games. I was able to tell a huge difference in quality between the two.

@Skeletor Eidos is a publisher, not a developer. All LEGO games for home console have been developed by Traveller's Tales

@Retro_Hype I wouldn't say that,Lego Batman was pretty good, but yeah the other are pretty bad especially Lego boredom(Indiana Jones).

I am excited for this game,i know it'll be more of the same, but i've been waiting for a new LoTR game for a while now and this will most likely cover the 3 film,TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY LEGO LORD OF THE RINGS

I've grown a little tired of LEGO games, but more games for consoles are always welcome
And like was said before the first game was good but after that they got a little boring. They all have their own gimmicks but they all come down to new levels. (Batman's gimmick was actually kinda cool, seeing the "Story" from 2 sides and the new stuff in "The Original Trilogy" was pretty cool too.)

These LEGO games were great at first (LEGO Star Wars was one of my favs on PS2), but they've been getting stale for a while now. I like the idea, but it seems like it's come 4 years too late.

I figured this was going to happen when I heard that the Lego company made a deal to make Lego LotR sets. Will have to pick this one up.

Nah, Santa and his elves (not to be mistaken for Tolkien's elfes) are coming this christmas

Those LotR minfigures will be awesome! Now lets hope they get the Zelda franchise as well. It could happen (ref. the Kinect Mario Kart sets) but otherwise these LotR sets will probably provide some excellent material to fashion your own Link.

i've just remembered about the upcoming lego batman 2 game coming out. i've seen on vidocs that its a huge improvement over the other lego games. i still wont get it. i'll let my older brother get that, and if i like it, i'll pay him half what he paid for a right to play. as for THIS... well, its lotr, how bad could it be? lego games usually have some kind of humor involved every game... little kid humor. i just pray that the developers keep humor out of this one. i can not imagine gollum doing something little kids find funny (the split personality is an exception, because it was in the book)

Another one? My word, they are so cashing in on this Lego game thing
I'll wait and spam Traveller's Tales and Lego until they make Lego District 9, Lego Cloverfield and Lego A-Team
