More Last Story Artwork Emerges, Looks Suitably Gorgeous

Posted by Damien McFerran

Hironobu Sakaguchi's new project is certainly a looker

We have to admit that Mistwalker's forthcoming Wii RPG is getting us pretty excited, despite the fact that we haven't actually seen a single screenshot yet.

What we have seen is some particularly lovely concept artwork, and if the game can capture the same feel of these images then Wii fans are going to be in for a visual treat.

For those of you that don't know, Last Story is the next RPG epic from original Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who recently shocked the internet by pretending to shave off his signature facial hair.

I love artwork for games but never expect the games to look like them. I mean look at Epic Mickey? It's just not going to happen.

I mean a city being that big? lol I wish! That would be awesome!

Loving the "mediterranean village" look, and the fact that we'll finally have another open-world game on the Wii. I'm really excited about this one.

As soon as I read 'RPG' I lost all interest.
Yet I 'will' play Final Fantasy X because I'm in love with the atmosphere and character designs....if only it were a movie instead, i just hate playing RPG's. XIII looks pretty awesome as well, but's an RPG.

Oooooo. This artwork is gorgeous. I'm so hyped for this game!

By the way, that Kotaku link led me to an article about the game before it was titled. Apparently the battle system "makes tactical use of 'confusion and order on the battlefield' in real time".

Anyone think this game is going to be like pre-Final Fantasy VII?
It sounds like it could be,I mean we have the guy that made FFI-VI,the name is kinda similar and it's on a Nintendo console...
Oh well, as long as it kicks ass I'm happy

I find the predominant cats deeply suspicious.
Oh well. Lookin' good, LS.

It's reminding me of Threads of Fate, but 'grown up'. I like it. I'm a bit of an RPG junky, so I'm glad to see it.

@Hardy: Sakaguchi specifically said that although in other RPGs the towns were small and with only a few dead ends that he wants to make the ciry in TLS a place where the player can get lost in so you never know.

It does seem the game is taking place entirely on one island so they'll be able to flesh out more of the areas because there is less of them.

This is supposed to be some sort of "new form of RPG", which i hope will be a good thing. No more random enemy encounters ever, please. I've wasted too many hours of my life doing them.

This will go down as the best looking Wii game along with Muramasa and Boy and his Blob (If it looks this good)
