IMHO games today are too easy or cheap. I remember challenging myself by trying to beat Quickman's stage without having to use Flashman's time stop ability.
Also I loved it when I proved to my cousin that you can beat Contra without the Konami Code!

Yeah. I can't complain if JPN gets specials but EU and NA should have similar packages. EU was ahead on the Pikachu edition, they also got the MH3U bundle. To make matters worse, I cant even get a Nintendo console on Amazon! I just don't understand what's up with NOA.

I'm 35 as well. I didn't like these though. If they were going to do a video game out of an old toy line, I'm voting for MASK. It could play like Master Blaster with vehicle and non-vehicle segments. With multiple playable characters, That would be AWESOME!

I tend to enjoy games that make it big in the Japanese charts than the Western charts. Monster Hunter being the current top franchise for me. This is HUGE in Japan but so-so in the Western market. GTA, a big seller in the West, I didn't really enjoy.
I think it's all a matter of taste. It just so happens that the market is bigger in the west vs Japan.
Everyone should do what they're doing and swap notes every now and then so that they learn from each other.

I almost gave up on this game when I started on the Wii due to frustration. Only when I found the right weapon did I start enjoying the game. For all rookies, I suggest that you download the demo and find the right weapon for you.

Oh and button mashing does NOT work!

Capture Guru is probably the best skill for first timers. Closest thing that you'll get to a health bar

Rerun commented on Capcom Would Love To Work With WayForward Again:

I'm a huge fan of Way Forward. Most of their games are Day 1 purchases for me. I hope they work with more of Capcom's licenses. They did great with Konami's.
… Now if only Treasure would make more SHMUPs, I would be in 2D heaven …

Glad to see Mega Man 2 is there not 3. IMHO 2 had the best powers and usable in game (Metal Blade, anyone?)

CastleVania 3 was better on the FAMICOM. Grant's daggers were projectiles!

Why no Ninja Gaiden? That was had one of the tightest controls and best cutscenes on the NES?

No Love for Contra either.

Rerun commented on Review: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U):

The demo featured just one aspect which was combat using different weapons. But MH is more than that, getting the right weapon, learning how to use it and reaping the rewards is something that they never covered in the demo. The "clunky" controls as some people, call it are part of Monster Hunter. I played Tri and it took me a good 15 hours to learn how to beat the Barroth. And it took me even more time to figure out the weapon that fit my skill and playing style. This IMHO has the best effort:reward ratio of all the games I ever played.

This is showy I only go digital if I absolutely have to. I prefer hardcopies. The only stuff I ever bought digital are the digital only releases.

IMHO, digital is just tough to manage. I remember when a friend of mine moved away from the US, he had issues with his iTunes purchases because he had to switch stores.

Ubisoft never committed that it was an exclusive. I would be upset if they did sine they would be going back on their word.

In the future, I think exclusives should stay exclusives, none of the timed exclusives crap. And if Sony, MS, or Nintendo want exclusives, they should invest money on the developer. This way developers don't get closed for releasing an exclusive that fails..

I go where I can value for money (I don't buy used games unless they're ultra rare)
Amazon doesn't charge tax which saves me a couple of bucks
GameStop has nice Pre-order stuff
Other retailers would go on sale and you can get new games cheap!
Unless Nintendo moves to a cloud set-up like Apple, I'm not going digital

Rerun commented on Feature: Looking Back at Six Years of Wii:

Monster Hunter Tri was the main game for me for this generation. Before MH was released, I got by playing RE 4. It was so much better on the Wii than the GCN. I couldn't appreciate Zelda as much; the purist in me was bothered that Link was now right handed after being a southpaw for so long.

Rerun commented on Talking Point: Affordable Consoles Come at a Cost:

@gundam00
I know what you mean. I have an old friend who manages a contact center outside the US. Workers are paid roughly $12 a day for a nine hour day. You see really long lines and people trying to get these jobs. If they get in, it's a big deal. In third world countries, unemployment is huge. And with so many living below the poverty line, working in a factory is a blessing in comparison to going hungry.

Rerun commented on Talking Point: Affordable Consoles Come at a Cost:

A lot of us are seeing this from a Western point of view. What if this is their best bet in terms of employment? Third world countries have minimal social security, if any at all.
The fact that these factories exist means that the local government allows this. Even if Nintendo moves to another contractor, there is no assurance that this won't happen. If they don't outsource, then production will be too costly. Not to mention all the employee benefits that they have to worry about long term.
Outsourcing is a very profitable business model for companies. It gets the work done. Until something better comes along, and when I say better I mean more cost efficient, I don't think things will change.

This is simply history repeating itself one way or another. There will always be a group who will be exploited to allow another group to reap the rewards. It has been happening since the ancient times. I'm not saying that it's right, it's just that humanity is hard-wired to do it.

Rerun commented on Wii U Resellers Captilise On Demand By Fleecin...:

This is the world we live in. Supply and demand will always dictate prices. This just doesn't happen to consoles, it happens everywhere.
At least, Nintendo doesn't create the scenario. Other companies (like Nike) purposely create low supply and high demand which IMHO is worse. I've read articles where people seriously get hurt while trying to get Limited Edition sneakers at crazy prices. Sneakers that were manufactured in sweat shops at 1% of the retail price.

Rerun commented on Round Up: Wii U Launch Window Games:

Having a Mario title at launch is a good sign. I want Monster Hunter and Tekken Tag too.
Just curious, since the Wii motes work with the Wii U, would arcade sticks work as well? I have the Hori Arcade stick for the Wii and I was hoping to use it for Tekken Tag.
