Review Excitebike: World Rally (WiiWare)
Will this remake kick the tires out from under the competition?
Nintendo’s often-overlooked Excite racing series kicks in the turbo and has released not one but two new games this year. This time, the series returns to its roots with a remake of the original NES classic. But with so many other “excite”-ing options to choose from on the Wii, is...

Nintendo Download 5th February 2010 (Europe)
Two anticipated titles finally arrive.
The Virtual Console seems to be in full swing in Europe again, after a rather lackluster period - We got Street Fighter Alpha 2 last week, and we're getting Sonic & Knuckles the next. The space inbetween isn't empty either, because Capcom has chosen to release two games in a row. Meanwhile, on WiiWare,...

WiiWare catch-up, a couple MSX ports and a sprinkling of DSiWare in Japan next week
The slow start to the year continues to be slow, but at least there's some quality releases to be had. WiiWare: Excitebike World Race (1000pts - Nintendo) – Better late than never for this well received update to the Famicom classic. Virtual Console: Quarth (800pts...

DSiWare gets another big batch of budget titles, WiiWare gets Excitebike.
There's eleven new games this week, but don't get excited right away - five of them are budget DSiWare versions of commercial disaster Electroplankton. WiiWare gets the previously announced Excitebike and two more games, while Virtual Console gets two rather unremarkable...
News Excitebike: World Rally Coming To WiiWare
Track editor, online multiplayer and more
Nintendo's long-dormant Excitebike franchise has seen two entries proper: the original NES release and a 3D sequel in the form of Excitebike 64. Yeah, the Excite name has lived on in the excellent Wii releases Excite Truck and the more recent Excitebots: Trick Racing, but Bike fans know they're just not the...

I personally can't wait for this one to come out.
Do want!
Wish I could play this game right now.
This is going to be awesome, but I bet it will be about 1000 points. I hope it will be only 500.
Anyone know if this has local multiplayer?
When is the european release??
I reckon it'll be 1000 points. This could be the best Wiiware game to date.
Just got it. That was a $10 well spent.
For those who are wondering, the online is like Mario Kart Wii. As in, zero lag.
No local multiplayer? Any chance for it to have a two player mode, at least, like the Jap-only 1987 famicom disk system game "Vs. Excitebike"? That would be sweet! Or even if you could unlock the original, too!
I may pick up this title, since i have never played an Excitebike game
Fun and challenging game. I'm still crashing and overheating a lot but having fun doing it. My one beef is with the motion control. I intuitively want to pull or tilt back on the remote to pop a wheelie but they have you tilt left to do this and tilt right to pitch forward. Still getting used to that. Perhaps I should give classic controls a try? Don't let this dissuade you though. It's basically fun and getting into an online race is quick and easy. I won't play it for hours at a stretch but it's good arcade fun in short spurts. Just don't overheat and sputter out. I hate when that happens ; >
BTW, what do the yellow stars after game reviews or descriptions mean?
We ever going to see a review of this game? DIdn't expect it to be the last one done of the 3 WW games this week.
No review yet?
THis will be an instant download for me when I get back homw.
cash in if i ever saw one. However, looks just as fun as the original. Doubt i'll be buying it though, its an exact copy of the original with a graphic update. IGN gave it a 7.9.

Looks like buying the original Excitebikes on VC was a waste of money...
It seems it will have a nice review! This might be my first WiiWare game then.
" its an exact copy of the original with a graphic update."
Did the original have shifting terrain, unlockable bikes, and online play?
At least the European release date is available
was going to get the original, but at the last minute changed my mind and got t world rally at the last minute. Anyone who thinks this is "an exact copy of the original with a graphic update" is mistaken.
It is as fun as the original, except like Tony says, there are unlockable bikes, online play (that is as addictive as it is fun) and shifting terrain. It's the original with all the improvements you wanted from the original but never knew about back then. You even have the option of using classic controls from the old nes.
If you enjoyed playing the original, you will LOVE playing this game. You won't even miss it. Best ten bucks I've spent in long long time.
10 / 10
Got it Today and it's by far one of best wiiware games I have gotten
Still a classic, still fun to play. Only downside is a lack of overall features.
I bought this game because I couldnt decide between Super Mario World or Super Metroid (LOL 3rd party candidates for the win) and its just superb. The graphics are like the old game in the sense that they kept it simplistic, but its definantly a good looking game. The biggest refresher to me was the fact that all the levels in the main single player mode had their own feel to them. The desert levels are full of cacti and rocks, the beach has water and palm trees on it, and canada... is just awesome!
Another VERY welcome addition is the WiFi racing. Excitebike has never really been about racing other people until now! And its easy to get a match because people are on all the time.
My only dissapointment is with the track editor, seeing as how you only get the generic background like the classic games. The track editor itself is good, and you can save your maps (WOO!) but after playing in all the beautiful levels the single player offers, its just a tiny bit dissapointing.
This is a fantastic game though, and I highly recommend it to anyone still on the fence about this. Its totally worth your hard earned money
Totally agree with No. 21 - this game rocks. I'm such a die-hard NES fanboy and a sucker for getting all versions in a series, yet when I downloaded this, I knew I would never feel the urge to download the o.g., even on a nostalgiac level. This is how a classic game update should be handled. It perfectly conveys everything that made the original great, and serves about 4 times the amount of it. It's an excellent homage/celebration of the original, and an excellent expansion in its own right. DOWNLOAD IT, and don't worry about the NES version
