So, have just downloaded and installed Galaxy 2. Runs nice and smoothly, loads existing save data. Just to clarify, obviously required nunchuck and wii remote to play. Nothing else to say really, other than I've just paid £8 for a game I already have on disc.

So, no added Pro Controller or Game Pad Support?

Bummer, I might have gotten it if they had allowed other control schemes.

If a Wii game is compatible with the Classic Controller, the Gamepad will work. Of course, Galaxy 2 only works with a Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

Never had a Wii, and have avoided Wii Mode, so these options are great for me.

I will look into Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime initially and keep watch on future releases. If ever made available I would dive in on FE: Radiant Dawn, though if Xenoblade came available, I would leave aside as I want to put that gaming time into Xenoblade Chronicles X.

This is a good decision via Nintendo. Essentially Wii VC. I am impressed.

I think I'll actually re-buy these Wii titles in this new format. To me, the changing disc+starting Wii mode+start the game thing is kind of tedious. This will make me play the games much more.

I might pick up DKCR (if it comes out, because NoA seems to have a vendetta against DKC), even though I have it on 3DS. I like the idea of local multiplayer with only one copy, and also glorious 60 FPS.

How are the token unlockables going to work on Metroid Prime Trilogy? If I recall some of them required trading friend vouchers with others online, but I believe the online service is discontinued.

Also doubt we'll get Xenoblade Chronicles as it is being released on New 3DS

I'm afraid I'll be picking upp all the European releases, since there's a 50% discount and everything. Have played neither Galaxy 2, DKCR nor Metroid Prime trilogy, and all three (or five, rather) games seems worthy of a purchase.

so prime trilogy is now playable on my gamepad screen, right? As those games had classic controller support iirc?

Who am I kidding?

EDIT: And just to prepare myself for further disappointment, I took a look at Nintendo-published games on Wii, according to Wikipedia, that I never got to play even though I wanted to.

Excitebots (since no EU release) and Zangeki no REGINLEIV (since no western release)

And Endless Ocean 1+2... I already have them both on Wii discs, but in their case, I would get a digital copy as well.

I wasn't that thrilled with Pandora's Tower (or Last Story for that matter) - just bought it to get the coin set (which is very cool).

I totally agree that Nintendo should be using these downloads to correct past omissions like no PAL release for Excitebots, so I wrote Nintendo customer service to say so (I've written them a couple of times in the past about that game) and to say that NPC Chibi Robo should also get a worldwide download release. After all the original Gamecube game had a global release, so aside from thinking there's no overseas market they had no reason not to do a worldwide release for the Wii version - would help big up the 3DS game too, no?

I have to think we'll see downloads of the NPC Pikmin games as well and it would be nice if Capcom did a release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Resident Evil games - if this is truly opened up the Wii U could have a wealth of Wii retail releases, some of which might not have gotten much attention as disc releases. Now if only Nintendo will do the same for WiiWare...

Is anyone else concerned these will be overpriced? £17.99 or $19.99 seems too much to me.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

How is $19.99 to much? It also fits perfectly into their pricing model. $5 NES, $8 SNES, $10 N64, $15 GameCube (when/if that happens), $20 Wii

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Seems right for the Ninty scale of things but compared to steam then yes.

Not really, punchout is around 20$ used most places I go, and Metroid Trilogy is an upwards of 90$

Anyone else having trouble running Super Mario Galaxy 2 from an external HDD? I had to move the game to the internal memory before I could load it. It was getting to the point to where it was loading into Wii mode and just freeze.

I already own Galaxy 2 and Punch-Out, though I might give Metroid Prime Trilogy a try. MIGHT. Not really a big Metroid fan (PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!).

I am very interested in the answer to this question because although I have the disks at least for the first three - Metroid is going to be massive and I don't want to have to use the internal on that. (Was going to get at least the three first ones).
