Topic: Why all the Wii Hate?

People don't have to like the Wii, and we don't have to like other consoles.

Because opinions rule the world compared to fact. Essentially the "Hardcore" gamers are trying to make other gamers believe that their preferred console is better than your preferred console, even though the fact may say that the "Hardcore" is a complete moron and that your preferred console is the best console in the world. It's the exact same thing as the N64 vs. PSX war.

Have you never been to GT? This is what happens with all vids - previews or reviews - of games made by big companies. A bunch of people criticise it and they all get voted down. A bunch of people say it looks good and they get voted up.

If people want Ninty consoles to be treated just the same and covered just the same as the other consoles (and the author of that article is complaining that they aren't) then they've got to expect the game releases to be treated just the same. That means, they've got to be able to see a Wii game bashed by people online and not get upset by it, complaining that everyone "hates the Wii."

I think MySims Agents looks adorable and I did watch that review last night and now I want to get it.

As far as hardcorez, my brother is a hardcore gamer so I don't care what they think about the Wii. They are very angry people to begin with.

I really don't understand how people can 'hate' any console.The principal is inconceivable to me. if I had the money and free time I would own every console ever made. I obviously prefer Nintendo consoles but that's usually because they make some of my favorite games , but to deny yourself experience of the great games on other systems because of some misplaced ,misguided brand loyalty seems a bit ridiculous. If I have a Sony tv it wouldn't mean that i should hate samsung,JVC et al does it. But then I tend to take no notice of these people so it don't bother me I just find it odd

No Wii hate here, my family and I are having too much fun with our systems.

Some people just suffer from insecurity, and need to be part of the "in" clique.
Thus, they've probably bought a box with all the buzzwords attached, and yet
their purchase just hasn't made them cool. Worse, it's not even most popular.
Thus, what can they do, except criticise the popular box, and the people who
are having fun with it. At least in jealousy, they find a lot of like-minded voices.

That's a good point, you're probably going to get hate on any platform out there. I do frequent GT and I must say, while every video might have a few trolls who just like to be stupid, the sheer AMOUNT of stupidity flowing out of this post is scary. Observe:

Of course now the comments are bit nicer because people from GoNintendo went on there to bash the "haters". But if you pull back to the first couple pages of comments, the amount of hate is staggering.

I think they decided that instead of making top quality releases thaey decided they'd try to make them appeal to more people instead, dilluted the gaming experience for money (which isn't wrong, as no one is losing anything they're entitled to, although it is a shame).

Also making an semi-flamebait argument, that contradicts itself is poor form. You're saying that people that made fun of the Nintendo gamers wound up becoming Nintendo gamers. That would also entail them becoming Nintendo gamers for Wii-specific things, while the Wii isn't really any more specialized than the other systems at anything, but shovelware. Don't bother arguing Nintendo games, as they've been on all Nintendo systems, and there was no reason not to enter before.

The amount of hate on the Wii is so staggering, it makes me wonder when our site if and when our site becomes popular enough that our forum will permanently be flooded with Wii haters.

I already had to watch IGN, Video-Game-Info Forums, and McCleodGaming Forum turned into a Wii hater site, I don't want the same thing happening to Nintendo Life.

The Nintendo hardcore fanbase are a nightmare to deal with, they are relentless with the hating. I will never sign up for Gametrailer, the only thing that I actually visit the site for is the Angry Video Game Nerd.

This posts especially bothers me: "I am really glad i sold my Nintendo Wii".

Their are many reasons why I am defending the Wii.

That was when I wouldn't mind arguing with other Wii haters. Now I do not want any part of it. It's very irratating and I cannot stand the hater. I half-regret signing up for IGN, the Wii board is mostly haters.

Defending the Wii is hard.

I'm in Jamaica right now (doing final year of high school) and whenever the words "Wii" or "Nintendo" cross my lips, I hear either one of these responses. "Wii sucks, PS3 is better" or "360 is the better platform" or the one that irritates me the MOST "PS3/360 has better graphics."
I know the graphical superiority of the PS3 and Xbox 360, but what you see isn't always what you get.

On the portable side, I'm happy more of my Jamaican friends lean towards the DS, while there are some haters out there who defend the PSP, (yet some despise the PSPgo just because it has no UMD slot).

I can go on as long as I want about all the Wii bias among these so-called gamers, but I stick to my guns. We all know Nintendo may not be technically or graphically superior but I know damn sure you will thank them for your interest in video gaming because Mario (and R.O.B) brought it all back with the NES, and also bringing out the best portable system ever, and for showing people that innovation and gameplay matters in a game, not how flashy the animations look or the story or even the hype it generates.

There is one thing I will make clear: If Nintendo ever decided to step up their game further with their systems, Sony and Microsoft WILL be getting their asses handed to them by the superiority that is all of the Nintendo franchises ever made. Nintendo did it with the N64 (Jumping from 16-bit to 64-bit, though stepping backwards with cartridges), and goddamn it, they will do it again. Mark my words.

Everyone has reasons as to why they like,love,dislike or pure hate things. I am a gamer so I see value in all systems.

Same. All systems have their own certain qualities which are out there, like PS3's Blu-ray support and err.... redesign, The 360's Xbox Live Service and the Wii's motion sensitivity and kick-ass first-party games, and casual stuff like Wii Fit.

They get picked off pretty quickly, but yes, we have been blessed. Maybe some of these haters have enough of a life not to bother?
