There's a very simple answer: The cost of doing a new version of an old game like DKC or SMW has not dropped enough to sell it at budget prices. Some back of the envelope math suggests that even if a downloadable game like DKC sold a million copies at $10, the result would still be a very small return by corporate standards. i.e. $10,000,000 gross
For a massive project like DKC or SMW, the costs of such a project (once salaries, facilities, equipment, licensing, and marketing are added up) could easily be as much as the return! Souring those figures is the fact that no WiiWare has been known to sell 1,000,000 copies. If a number like 1,000,000 isn't hit, the proposition looks even less appealing.
Nintendo needs a strong financial incentive to make a new game, no matter what that game is. The platformers you mentioned were notorious for their scope and size. Even with modern tools, much of that work is still labor intensive. Anything labor intensive is a huge risk. When Nintendo knows that their download service isn't popular enough to mitigate that risk, they're not even going to consider a scope that large.
Why dont nintendo use wii ware for old sequels like.... Donkey Kong Country 4 Super Mario World 3 and etc
My thoughts exactly.
And thewiirocks, WiiWare sequels don't have to be quite so big or grand as the games they're sequels to. Something like what Megaman 9 did would suffice I suppose but with slightly enhanced SNES graphics.
Ohh... thinking about that, I would love to see a Stylised version of Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, Mach Rider and Clu Clu Land in a Pac Man Champion Edition style. I would so dig that...

Megaman is not that large of a game. 12 levels are reasonably easy to come up with and test. The 50-100 levels seen in DKC and Mario World are a whole other ballgame.
Besides, MegaMan was milked a bit with DLC. I imagine that helped drive profits from the game despite the relatively low price tag.

Yeah, I suppose so. They just have to change the way they do things. Okay they can't make a brand new game the size of the SNES games but its not stopped other companies from making platformers on the WiiWare - how large is Contra Rebirth?
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
This won't help in the slightest if you want Nintendo to do this just from one thread. There are loads of people who want this sort of stuff but misleading them to grab attention isn't the way to do it. That sort of stuff just makes people dislike you
Exactly. I loathe misleading topic titles just to grab attention.
Yeah, games like Ice Climber, DKC4 and Super Mario World 3 would be great on WiiWare in maybe the same way Capcom did MM9, but aren't you forgetting one key gaming series? ZELDAAAAA !
Currently playing: Wii + GC - House of the dead: overkill, Guitar hero world tour, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Eternal darkness: sanitys requiem DS - Final fantasy 4, Rhythm paradise, Pokemon platinum, GTA:CTW. VC + WiiWare - Icarian, Lostwinds, Zelda: Maj..
Wow, I can see 'WiiWare Majora's Mask 2' now, hectic-wifi-multiplay-rpg-adventure-series continuation(s).
Exhales slowly with 'phew' **Lakitu 64 blows away own-self** **contemplates the severity of such nature** Even using exact same music, sound effects, colours, textures, 'soul' of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for the Nintendo 64, have something available for download that persuades even only the viewing to play... ...sorry, yes, I'll leave poetry to poetry thread next time. lol
