Topic: Deadly Creatures Opinions

I just picked up Deadly Creatures from Best Buy at $20. I've played half an hour worth of play and I think that its a pretty unique game. While it is a 3rd Person Action/Platformer sort of game it still feels original to me. The idea of being a small creature in the world works very well and I like how the story is told through conversations overhead. I would also say that the Scorpions fatalities are pretty brutal, but awsome I perfer the scorpion over the spider (I know what it really is but I can't spell it right off the bat.) because its just seems rougher and tougher then the spider which had more mobility and the ability to jump. However the game isn't without flaws, the loading times are awquard to endure and are in the middle of the level, the graphics look good but occasionally pop up, and finally the framerate isn't always consistant. Overall I still think the game is a unique experience thats worth a look. So whats you opinions on the game?

I enjoyed it! What were those spiders with white eyes that jumped about? As a slight arachnophobe, I loved KILLING those things with my nice friendly tarantula.

Good graphics, fun gameplay.. not without some faults but certainly a game I'd reccomend to others, no problem.

T: I'm not afraid of most insects except Bees and Wasps (For Fear of being stung, all too easy to happen) but the snake did creep me out at first, but it was satisfying to evade the thing. I wish more people would pick it up, if your looking for a copy I'll suggest Best Buy as the one I got my copy at had 6 copies when I first went in. I wouldn't have paid $50 for it, but at $20 it is a steal! I would play more but I am at my grandparents and I had to hook the Wii up in the sunroom so I can't play it that well without seeing total darkness

I think it's one of the best games available for the Wii. The narrative style and character design help turn a standard platformer into an amazing experience. The boss fights are really good, too.

Now that it is so cheap, I really need to pick it up. It never really seemed worth the $50 bucks, but I just like how original the storytelling and atmosphere seem.

I'm not a fan. I say get Excitebots instead! I'm pretty sure it's cheap too

I played Excitbots a while back, when I got it for like 15 bucks. It was alright, I had fun for a short time with it. I think DC seems much more unique, as far as adventure games go.

Sure Excitebots has a weaksauce presentation, not enough Locations and the music for the most part is just ear grating, especially the main tune which you will be hearing alot when waiting for Online Matches. Other than that, the Motion Control stearing works really good, many of the courses are a blast, I love the sense of crazy speed, the bug nuts obstacles throughout the stages, and the graphics were pretty nice, especially the beautiful water effects. Yet just to get a certain color, or vehicle costume is ridiculous based on how much cash you have to earn Online. I don't have time for that crap. And things can get frusturating in alot of areas, especially if you stear slightly in the wrong direction leading you to crash into a mountain is super annoying. You'll be seeing alot of that Other than that, it's a great racer, and I've even enjoyed it more in ways than Mario Kart Wi. By the way, the Lady Bug is the shniz

It's easily an 8/10 for me

It's a fun little game. Probably a solid 7/10. The problem is that for a game that prides itself on combat, the combat system is pretty uninspired. That, and a few technical glitches bring it down a few notches. I think the Nintendo Power review really nailed it when they said that the game would have really benefited from a more metroid-style design. The joy of that game, for me at least, came from the incredibly atmospheric exploration, which is why it was kind of a bummer that the game was so linear.

I'll be more forgiving and give it an 8 instead, the combat does advance as you go through and the finishers with the Scorpion elevate i But it does have problems. As for Excietbots, I played Excite Truck a lot, so I'm familiar, but I'd rather buy something new then almost the same thing with bugs (I know its more than that, but its not so triple A that its worth playing the same game again right off the bat like Super Mario Galaxy) and this fits that bill. Also Metroid exploration, it only makes you wonder dosen't it.

I liked it, and had fun playing through it. Got it when it came out, and played through it slowly knowing it was a pretty quick game. Very nice graphics, and though it did have its issues in a number of areas, the overall game and gameplay was great. I bought it at release because it was something "different" and had a great time with it; i would absolutely reccomend it to anyone curious at its current lower price.

I still need to replay at "Deadly" difficulty, but I thought it was quite good; just needed a bit more polish and was clearly rushed to meet a deadline before it was ready. The last level has lots of clipping in it, so don't be surprised to fall through the ground in a few spots (or enjoy watching enemies do the same) and the ending is abrupt and not well-executed.

I do hope the developers get a chance to do a sequel because I think it has franchise potential - even if you didn't play with different deadly creatures you can find tartantulas and scorpions all over the world!

It's well worth a look if you value originality over polish. However, given that it's relatively short and rough around the edges, it's probably more of a rental recommendation than a purchase one; well, unless you see it at a totally rock bottom price.

Given the way it bombed, I'd be very surprised if there's ever a sequel. Perhaps it might get a rehash over on another format, although from the reactions of most of the people I've seen to it, it's the creepy crawly subject matter itself that's the biggest turn off.

I have the game already had a couple of times in my hands and thought about buying it. It seems to be very interesting and innovative, but I'm not sure. I hate spiders and I fear that the game causes an "unpleasant feeling" when playing it for some time. Why couldn't they choose something that's a little less nasty than a spider as the protagonist? An ant, for example.

I'm not far from your feelings either but I did take a HELLUVA lot of pleasure in destroying every spider I could find with a nice friendly Tarantula (don't mind those so much, they move nice and slow ) or my bad-ass Scorpion.

Yeah btw Sean I did also think the ending was a little rushed.. but what an ending it was! I felt real satisfaction in delivering some grade A comeuppance.

I guess I meant the actual bit right before the end credits rather than the last sequence you play. As a game conclusion I thought it was fine, but what comes right before the credits was really lacking.

With regard to the animals themselves I don't see what the big deal is, but I've made it a point to overcome the arachnophobia instilled by my mother from a young age. I've raised my daughter without showing any fear of them and she consequently views spiders no differently from ants or beetles or any other creepy crawly and knows they aren't going to hurt her (well, except the poisonous ones, but in the UK we don't have any of those).

They're just little animals that have a very long lineage and are probably not aware you even exist so stop being afraid!

My mom is scared to death of spiders and I never got that, so I can play the game just fine (At Least when shes not around) and I put in another hour last night and I'm on Chapter 4, I'm trying to take my time, but I still end up finishing the levels pretty quickly Its still very enjoyable and once again if you haven't already tried this, do so, if you can stand the creepy setting and the creatures then you'll most likely enjoy the game.

I'm absolutely terrified of anything which shows the slightest sign of being creepy or crawly, but I didn't have any problems with this game.

Then again, I'm also quite averse to having my head caved in with a baseball bat, yet I got through No More Heroes emotionally unscathed. Maybe I just have a very refined sense of detachment from THINGS THAT AREN'T REAL

@shake_zula:
LOL. I always think the same thing when i'm watching a movie with blood in it and someone is squeamish -- It's not real blood! Of course, i don't even get squeamish from the surgery channel which features yummy close-ups of actual blood and innards, so maybe it's just me.

I can understand the not-real-creepy-crawly-on-my-TV fear a bit better, if only because for many people the insect-fear is believed to be tied into latent instincts of survival and fight/flight reactions.

I'm not scared of Turantulas, but Spiders with a big body and LONG skinny Legs terrify me, they're what nightmares are made of!
