Matt_B commented on Red Steel 2 Met Ubi's Sales Expectations:

According to VGChartz, Red Steel 2 has shifted 160,000 copies now. That's not epic, but its still showing a decent tail after a couple of months and will probably scrape over the half million mark around a year after release if this carries on.

So far as Just Dance goes, it's an epic hit with the Wii Fit crowd. That's hardly surprising though, as dancing is a lot more fun than mere exercise yet it's just as good for burning off the calories. The scoring system is indeed awful though.

Matt_B commented on Call of Duty: Black Ops Confirmed for Wii:

I can't say that I was ever in doubt. With sales of MW Reflex having just passed the million mark, Activision are still coining it from CoD games on the Wii without even trying when it comes to marketing them. The only real questions would be when and what's missing?

So far as the latter goes, I'd note that as the series has gone on there's been less and less content missing from the Wii versions and, if this trend continues, it'll likely come down to whether you prefer motion controls or HD eye candy. Then again, who's to say that the PS3 and 360 versions won't get the former too at some stage?

Matt_B commented on Interplay Straps In with Descent for WiiWare:

Descent was awesome in the day; a full-on textured 3D shooter while Quake was still glint in John Carmack's eye. You just needed to be able to think in six degrees of freedom to get the best out of it, which I think limited its appeal somewhat.

Still, if they can get the controls right, and preferably get some good bonus content in too, this looks like a sure fire hit to me.

Matt_B commented on Red Steel 2 Blunted After Poor UK Chart Debut:

Modern Warfare 2 got leaked before launch and that didn't seem to do sales too much harm.

Still, I'm with those who say that it's a little too soon to pass judgement. Ubisoft were only projecting sales of 500,000 for the game worldwide, so a seemingly poor performance in one country after a few days hardly spells curtains for it.
