Topic: Your Guess as to this year's surprise E3 Wii U Announcement(s)

I think we're looking at 1 or 2 games to be announced at E3 that will be released this year (And 2 or 3 announcements for next year, as always). And I think it is something major that will likely become the Holiday game that Zelda was going to be. Of course, Star Fox or Xenoblade Chronicles X COULD be the holiday game, but as both are somewhat nice, I don't think either of them are a good bet.

So, my guess is a new 3d Mario. And I really hope it's a collectathon style ala 64, Sunshine, and the Galaxies. 3d World was good for what it was but just didn't do it for me as far as 'Major 3D Mario Games' go. As for the 2016 games I'm thinking a Metroid, Paper Mario and Animal Crossing.

As I'm a supporter for the hated "NX replacing Wii U @ end of 2016" theory, this would leave Nintendo finishing off with a strong couple of years. Should this happen, it will obviously be very important for Nintendo to have made enough for Wii U so that those who bought it feel it was a worthwhile purchase. A 2015 of Splatoon, Star Fox, Yoshi, Mario Maker & Xenoblade- Followed by a 2016 of SMT x FE, Metroid, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, and the Wii U-NX Zelda will leave the Wii U with a decent enough lifetime first party lineup over it's 4 year lifespan that nobody would feel slighted, or atleast shouldn't.

Retro finished their last game 18 months ago, so hopefully we hear about what they've been working on. Doubt it will release this year, but a reveal would be nice.

I would feel pretty let down if there was a big reveal for a damn collectathon for holiday 2015.

I know I may be in the minority as everybody seems to want Metroid, but I would really love if Retro's project is a 3D Donkey Kong game. I'd go bananas for such a thing.

I'm sick and tired of 2D side-scrollers and DK 64 was released 16 years ago, so we need a game that takes what was good about DK64 and cuts the bad, boring, obsessive, demanding, excessive stuff it had in the later stages.

Also, I want another racing IP to get a Wii U entry. Could be Excite "something", could be Wave Race, not a chance in a million years it could be F-Zero but I would welcome it like the 2nd coming of Christ, if it did.

"Collectathon" would be Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, Mario Galaxy. Those are all collectathon games. You wouldn't be hyped for one of those? Or are you thinking something else?

And when I say "one of those", I mean to say a brand new game in that style.

I'm not much of a fan of the DKC games, but I would like to see Retro's take on a 3D platformer.

As for what I expect? Another small title similar to Captain Toad. Maybe even Mario 3D World 2, since it probably wouldn't take long to make, similar to Galaxy 2. Other than that, I expect release dates for games we already know about.

Metroid?

The first thing to come to mind when I hear "collectathon" is Rare's N64 games, where that's pretty much the whole point of the game, to collect 200 of every boring thing. Super Mario 64 and Galaxy had, you know... fun things to do.

But I consider Super Mario 3D World the most well-designed Mario game since SMW.

Hey, maybe Retro's new game isn't Metroid or Donkey Kong! Did anybody ever think of that?! Anyone? Seriously, I feel like whenever Retro Studios is brought up everyone says either "They must be working on a new Metroid!" or "They must be working on a new Donkey Kong!" Hey, maybe they're working on something new instead. I mean, after the first 3 Metroid Prime games, did anyone think they were working on something that wasn't Metroid, or did everyone just say "I wonder what the new Metroid game Retro must be working on will be like?" Why on earth does everyone seem to assume Retro is locked to those 2 IPs, just because they've made games for them in the past? Now, I'm not saying they're not making a new Metroid or DK game, but I also don't think there's any reason to be sure they are either. For all we know, they could come out and announce they're working on an F-Zero game, or an Ice Climbers game, or maybe even an original IP.

Edit: All that said, I sure hope Retro is working on a third DKC game!

If I was to take a stab in the dark I'd say the the same things I said last year. Animal Crossing and Metroid. But TBH given last year I said I wanted Animal Crossing and instead they came out with Splatoon? I hope they do that again.

Metroid Prime 4 somehow, shows a clip of Prime magically coming back to life, then the title appears.

I'm guessing Paper Mario U, but they should do a skit similar to the start of Dumb and Dumber To:

Tantalus has a Wii U game that should be announced.
Then there's Retro Studios making something Wii U related...
And then... There might be 2-3 new games announced.
Still, though... E3 is gonna be awesome.

Whatever Retro is working on... hopefully the final installment of the DK Returns Trilogy (but I would be fine with anything, as long as we see it)

I actually think Metroid. And I'm not a big fan of the series and I don't clamor for it...however I think it has been long enough for a franchise that Nintendo tries to give semi regular entries that I think they have it up their sleeve. (I do hope for more Other M gameplay)
