People, being an environmentalist doesn't make you a "hippie," or any of those other derogatory terms you'd like to think of. I assume you all would like to still be on the planet 20 years from now. Environmentalists are trying to make sure that happens. Show a bit of respect.
Greenpeace is almost militant at times, that's a problem. Its philosophy though is in the right place. And yes, corporations, including Nintendo, should be held accountable if they're not trying to be responsible themselves.
At least Greenpeace has some balls to be active in standing upfront the murderous corrupted and vicious earth destroyers, risking their own lifes to help us humans, all living beings and the earth to survive a little longer.
Video games and consoles are just electronics and plastic though. All we need is a good infrastructure to recycle that poisonous stuff.
That hippie argument comes from the stupidest of stupids.
Meh. I see no signs of crisis, and don't believe my video games are going to be hastening Armageddon any. I'm not too worried about anyone's evaluation of the WiiU, except for my own, and those of the people who would be making games for it.

It's surprising that a company from such a forward thinking society wouldn't strive to be saving the Earth. Why wouldn't they release their information? What do they have to hide? Oh but the inside of some the 3DS cases now have recycled logo, I think. _
It could be something as simple as anger towards Greenpeace. Because Greenpeace act like a bunch of terrorists when it comes to things like whaling (not that I agree with whaling, but I dislike Greenpeace's militant attitude towards it), many Japanese hate Greenpeace.
If it was another environmental group Nintendo might be more forthcoming. Unless its manufacturing process is especially destructiuve, it can only be a good thing for Nintendo anyway, since their consoles draw less power than their rivals' - so the only reason I can think of that Nintendo might not share information is a dislike for the company requesting it.
Ohhh, that's a really good point. I hope it's just that.
But not Nintendo, I would not be surprised if in the near future there be new special taxes for extra-polution, something that, of course, only the consumers will pay (and that includes you).

If you're trying to frighten me with nonsense, it won't work.

Few electronics are produced in an environmentally friendly way but worse yet is where some of those materials come from (not singling out Nintendo here). The manufacturers may claim they don't use conflict minerals that fund horrendous civil wars, but so does the diamond industry. And we all know how that is.
I love my green N64 controller. I was p***** when I found out this was a hippie topic.
Edit: Chocobo, I highly doubt using plastic is going to destroy the Earth within 20 years. Besides, at this rate, artificial gravity can't be that far away.

You know, I VOTED for the bloody Greens even though I don't always agree with them. Like most things there is a whole spectrum of views so just because someone like me votes Green and thinks things like Climate Change are top tier issues doesn't mean I'm vegan who buys organically grown lentils and sits by a campfire planning my next protest involving tying myself to a tree. The Greens generally lose me when they talk about their "core issues".
Not at Waltz but on the Nintendo thing, even IF Nintendo were "not Green" it makes bugger all difference at our end. Really, if you want to be "green" reduce your energy consumption directly first, then look at your car and only then even think about looking at what you're buying. You think one small piece of electronics is going to make a difference? Go to the kitchen first.

it is not only about the plastic but all materials and where they come frome. nintendo let their consoles be produced by companies that use materials from the republic of kongo. people and the enviroment are raped their. seriously. i read about this 2 days after i bought my 3DS though
Just saying... how does the environment get raped?

Actually, we already have it, unless you're thinking of that star trek stuff.

Smartest thing I've read all day.
I wouldn't describe it as "that Star Trek stuff," but yes, the same concept. The main reason that we can't colonize a planet far from Earth is that we aren't capable of making a consistent, high level of gravity on a ship. You'd be surprised. It would take a very, VERY long time at this rate, and we'd first have to find a planet that could suit us, but we could in theory launch a ship with maybe 1,000 people on it, and it would basically keep going to its destination over the years, with more generations spawning on the ship to colonize when it arrives. The main problem is that without gravity, our bones would eventually just break. Of course, we could just do something like the ISS, but the same problem persists.
Obviously, there is a lot more to take into consideration, and it would take a long time to build such a ship. In fact, what I said was some what of a joke. But it is not necessarily science fiction anymore.
Nintendo - Where even first person shooters ooze creativity.

We don't really have a choice, though. Ordinary gravity relies on Mass pushing the fabric of space and creating a gravity well. It's not exactly a force that can be replicated by a machine. Centrifical force, however, can provide a similar effect. I wasn't aware there were any problems with it.
