That was redeemed at the 3DS XL Nintendo Direct to me.

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

Why on earth are people thinking E3 was bad? It showed off the system's features, new games, ETC, yet people complain. As Reggie said in the first ND.

Well, I don't know about your viewpoint alone, but really, it just showed off features of the system that we practically already knew about, with only a mere elaboration; nothing imperative or crucial (disregarding the price, launch date and tech specs, because those were already confirmed to be discluded in the conference two months prior). To me, if "new games" are mainly composed of ports, devastatingly similar reiterations of past games, an advanced Wii Sports Resort that we got a 20-minute earful of, and about only one or two or three interesting new exclusives, then yes, there were new games. Apart from that, there was nothing ground-breaking or compelling that said "Oooh! I need a Wii U!", from a lot of opinions gathered. Even mine, and I'm a core Nintendo fan - though this won't stop me from purchasing the console around launch, if possible.

It was like... it was like a very bad episode of Chelsea Lately; only for geeks and featuring Reggie, instead of some breakout star whose inevitable future probably consists of leading a life of debauchery.

There were no surprises, and very little was shown that actually made most people care about what they were showing. It was a bunch of stuff we kind of already knew about. Plus, we didn't learn the most important parts of the Wii U: its price and release date. Sorry, but I can't feel excited about something if I don't know when it's coming or how much it will cost.
Also, Nintendoland. It looks fun enough, but saying, "there's one last thing we want to show you," you don't give us a lame fireworks show. Sorry, that was just stupid.

I totally agree.
There are some great games coming, but the point of E3 is the huge surprises and announcements, not telling us about stuff we already knew about. We want to know about the next Starfox, Metroid, Zelda etc., not telling us about a game that already came out last year for 10 whole minutes. (i'm pointing at you, Batman!) E3 is all about hype, which I got very little of. I'm excited for the Wii U, but not as excited as I should be.

It had already been said by Iwata two months prior to E3 that there would not be any price, tech specs or release date at the conference, as with all consoles set for launch in the seasonal period. Seriously, where was everyone when this was all over every news site?

Really? I don't recall knowing about Rayman Legends, Mass Effect 3, ZombiU, Nintendo Land, NSMBU and all of those games before the conference. I think it's just people finding a reason to complain about a great conference.

NSMBU wasn't shown at E3 2011. That was NSMB Mii. A beta version. And ports aren't BAD, as long as the game is good. Plus I think Nintendo Land is a great way to unite all of the franchises outside of Smash Bros.

But calling E3 2012 Terrible? You would have to be out of your mind to think that it was bad. E3 2008 was the only bad E3, and IMO 2012 is miles better than all of the conferences we have had at E3 (Except 2010 which was equal)

When NIntendo released a Nintendo DIrect that was a lot more interesting and important than their E3 appearance, it was kinda clear that they don't really care about E3 anymore. While everyone was busy trying to see who "won" (or who did not lose) E3 and the dust settled, they made some news with the XL announcement, when everyone else had shown their stuff at E3. So who cares that they make their show the day after Apple does theirs?

I hope this one is available as a new Nintendo Direct. And if not, still the news sites will keep us informed with impressions of games and maybe that elusive price and release date information.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

To be fair, everyone's E3 was terrible. Microsoft especially.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

The big problem with Sony's E3 2012 conference was that they completely ignored the Vita, even though they talked about it alot during their 2011 conference. Sony's Gamescon conference completely destroyed their E3 2012 conference.

Eh, I thought Ubisoft did a good job, especially considering that they're known for sucking. Watch Dogs gave one of the few surprises to E3, and I loved watching that fame.

Ubisoft had an incredible showcase for E3!
They definitely 'won' it!

Whatever, I don't really care for what Nintendo has to say, if it's good stuff then awesomeness but if it's not, oh well. Nintendo's Press conferences just keep letting me down and I usually just end up with more questions than answers (even though apparently they're conferences are supposed to answer our questions). Also Anything involving NOA usually tends to really suck so I hope it's not a Nintendo Conference held by NOA.

It is held by NOA, who doesn't suck at all, if you take into account the bland European conferences.
