I pre ordered this game nearly 2 months ago for the Wii U. Main reason was that I really need a new game for the U. A few weeks back they announced that it came with online mp mode. At first when i heard about this I was like nooooooooooo as this sort of games does not need a mp mode. But after watching the trailer it looks unique and was looking forward to playing it.
But then I read this http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-31-batman-arkham-or... WTF why? Why is there no online MP for the Wii U. Sure they said they rather focus on platforms with larger audiences. Ok I understand that there is not that many Wii U owners out there.
But if you want people to buy your Wii U versions of your games then you have to make sure there is no difference between the U version and other platform versions. Sadly since I want to play the MP of this game I now have had to cancel my wii u pre order and pre order the PC version.

Exactly what I was thinking. Then when the game sells like crap they'll blame the consumers for not caring for the game. No, we didn't buy it because we can access the full version on three other platforms, so why would we buy the deliberately unfinished game on Wii U?! If you're complaining about the small audience, then why not help build it by releasing full games, not half-donkeyed ports!

Because according to them it's Nintendo's job to sell Nintendo.. not theirs.. so they can careless about if the Wii U sells or not.. however we could point out that it is their job to sell the game on the Wii U platform.. and that taking out Online MP was a bad choice.. but then they will just say but since Nintendo fans don't appear to play online to much anyway... and if they wanted a very valid excuse as to why to not put it on there they can just point to the Splintercell fiasco.. that happened here.. (A lot of people were complaining a little to much.. for not having Local Co Op.. while getting Online Co Op..) so they can always say I guess.. at least now you all got what you wanted.. and I would not blame them for saying it.. (Yes I do want the complete package as much as the next guy.. but at least in Splintercell I could understand.. and they never said it wouldn't be fixed.. here it's a different situation.. of course.. I guess this to can be fixed eventually.. when Wii U has more systems sold.. but by then it will most likely be to late..)
I wish I'd known this before I bought Arkham city a few months ago. Whatever, I got it on rollback. You're seriously telling me they're going to deliberately half-donkey the game that much? There's no excuse for that. With this alone I'm about ready to put WB in with EA. They talk about how they're Wii U games don't sell, when they needlessly Strip them down.
I'm still getting it. Boycotting it and refusing to buy it on Wii U will only encourage them to continue this trend if not even abandon Wii U support entirely. You just gotta roll with the punches...
Because WB loves torturing WiiU owners, as does every third party developer. Then they all go over to Bill Gates's house and drink alcoholic beverages and share a humble laugh at Ninendo's expense. or they think it's a waste of valuable development time.

Best case scenario: they want to put less effort so it can make a profit easier and thus not abandon Wii U.
Worst case scenario: "WHAT? OUR INFERIOR VERSION OF THE GAME ON A SYSTEM FAR FEW PEOPLE OWN DIDN'T SELL AS WELL? IMPOSSIBLE?!111!1"
I predict Assassins Creed 3 type of level multiplayer participation for this game anyway... Normal people will be playing COD 20, Splintercell, GTAV and the hundreds of other games released by then
Because when a company makes a game they figure out how much it would cost to make that game, and how many copies they will be likely to sell.
If it turns out that it looks like they won't make a profit, they either cancel the game project, or find some other way to save on the game's budget. Not having to maintain server space to keep the multiplayer active kinda makes sense when at absolute best they can expect to sell 10 per cent as many copies as on the other two platforms.

Buying it will make them think they can carry on giving us lazy ports.

No it doesn't. More sales shows more support. They're not giving Wii U online because of low install base. If they see that lots of people still get Batman on Wii U, they see a strong install base and will more likely include more stuff for future Wii U games so long as it promises strong sales.
More sales and support will bring better games on Wii U. No sales and poor support will bring less games to Wii U and more developers moving on to developing only for Playstation & XBOX systems again. You want 3rd party support on Wii U? Then you better damn well support it and show you want more.
Essentially, if there are stronger sales for big AAA titles like this on Wii U, then the future versions of similar games won't get gimped. I've pre-ordered it, and am very excited. I don't much care for multiplayer in a game like this anyway.

You want to get a good third person action/adventure game for the Wii U with no features removed with the promise of online multiplayer and downloadable content and makes perfect sense with the gamepad... Get Watch_Dogs then!
