Dead Space 2 was horrible because Isaac Clark had dialogue, IMO. He went from not saying one word even when characters are around were in the first game, to talking to himself constantly even when no one was around.
I was pretty hyped about Dead Space 2, but EA ruined what I liked about the first one. I even liked jumping from area to area in space instead of floating around. They should have made it so you could still jump around, but cancel it mid jump.
Then there were tons of times when I wanted to dive, and if I hit an enemy midair with a melee attack, the monster didn't stop.

Dead Space 2 wasn't what it was from Dead Space 1, and wasn't what it could have been.

Same thing with Banjo Kazooie regarding gameplay changes. It was fun at times, I admit, but Banjo and Kazooie weren't as agile as they were on N64. The car thing could have been so much better.

There's so many options missing in recent games, IMO.

I totally disagree, I think Dead Space 1 was very mediocre, but Dead Space 2 was up there with the greats of shooters. Isaac had a voice that fit him perfectly, and I didn't even notice he didn't have a voice in the first game until now, that's how perfect it was.

I'll go with that. Silent characters are the best to assimilate with when you're controlling them in my opinion.

Love yeah! not liking these generations of long drawn out cutscenes and crappy hollywood script writing

I think that's the problem. The first was more of a survival horror puzzles. And the first is brilliant in that sense.

As long as it's voiced in England rather than the US and Link keeps his mouth shut, I have no problem with that. All the recent games voiced in the UK I have played (Pandora's Tower, Xenoblade, ZombiU and The Last Story) were all done brilliantly. I mean, ZombiU had Richard Hawley in it!!

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I say yes to voice acting and yes to good voice acting. It is very strange to have games with such good graphics but then don't have any voices. It's like watching a movie in color with music, but no voices and having to read subtitles. Like, haven't we evolved past that by now?

As for Link having a voice, well, you already hear Link's voice in the Zelda games more than anybody's else's, so I find it strange that so many people are so strongly opposed to hearing Link's voice, but I suppose I'm being a bit of a smartdonkey here.

What's wrong with a little reading? And honestly, done right, you can tell a story with few words. It's more difficult, but I honestly think Ocarina of time was actually more interesting because less was told you. Old games rarely even used that many subtitles to convey an interesting story. You're talking as if spoken voice is the single best way to convey something all the time.

... But that's got nothing to do with this tread, right? Sorry.

I only brought it up because other people were discussing gameplay changes as well. Voice acting made Isaac Clark look like a total idiot. Just STFU and kill necromorphs for crying out loud.

@BandG
I've heard alot of people say that, so I understand there is another general opinion besides mine.
I just thought the game had a better flow. The action sequences seemed better played out and more believable. No one talks to themselves as much as Isaac did in 2, and he had a comment to say about every action he could have possibly made in the game.

"Ellie, I'm gonna open this door" - Isaac
"OK" - Ellie
"I'll be there soon" - Isaac
I swear, that's all he freaking said for like half of the game.

Did I say there was anything wrong with a little reading? I've enjoyed every Zelda game I've played so far (which is most of them). I do enjoy the fact that the games are kind of like interactive novels. I've also enjoyed games like Metal Gear Solid, where there's plenty of dialogue, but also good (or at least decent) voice acting. I just think that it's possible for a Zelda game to be good as well as having good voice acting and it's only a matter of time before it happens. Just imagine if a movie company moving forward by making their movies in color, but refused to add any sound. Wouldn't that be weird?

No. It's not bad. It's weird. I chose my words intentionally.

A movie already did that. I'm pretty sure it won a bunch of awards.

Okay. I have no idea what movie you're talking about as I'm not really into movies.

I can't help but wonder if this,

and the CD-i games didn't exist that we'd be more open to the idea of Link talk and VA in the series as a whole.

I actually like the cartoon. "The Missing Link" is probably my favorite episode. Then "Doppleganger" would be my second.

The Artist in 2011. It wasn't entirely silent but it was mostly silent and it was also Black and White and in 4:3. It won all sorts of awards including best film in the Golden Globes, Academy and BAFTAs. There was also WALL-E where the two main characters said almost nothing at all and the first half of the film there was nothing said at all. Ignoring animated billboards. Two very recent examples, so it can be done and when done well it's pretty fantastic.
