Topic: Should Zelda U have voice acting?

It would seem very strange to have Link talk, and it would probably upset many fans.

Now that I think about it, a lot of Nintendo's main characters seem incapable of speaking much...Mario...Link...Samus...Olimar...Kirby....etc.

they can use a fictional language that way they don't need to compensate links name as yours

Please no. I hate those cartoon (human) voices.

One word that sums up everything:NO
Reason: admit it you've thought about it some and that means you have an idea of how you want them to sound and that probably won't be the same as what it would be if there was voice acting then alot of people would get angry and it would turn into a mess

A solution that could please everyone is to have it, and have the option to turn it off at will.

Yeah it should be optional, but Link shouldn't say anything other than his usual battle grunts.

hmm, im unsure about it. i mean if they put it in it would probably be fine, but i feel you get a better sence of character with just grunts and giggles. you fill in the gaps yourself and in most cases can imagine exactly what they sound like and i believe it gives it a storybook feeling.

im not completely against voice acting but i dont know if it would loose that zelda feel that i love so much.

put it on.

@PloXyZeRO

Olimer talks at least he does in a certain game, I could have sworn Samus Talked in other M and we see her inner dialogue in fusion.

I wouldn't mind everyone talking but Link. I could name quite a few other games that have the silent protagonist.

Meh... Zelda's been going fine without it for years. Be nice, but I don't think its really needed.

And because his daughter is called Zelda, this could create the biggest plot-twist ever!

Why is it every time we bring up this topic about Zelda and voice acting, we compare it to an awful game with terrible voice acting, but seem to forget great games that have amazing voices in it.

I wish for Zelda to stop being the dark ages of gaming, and come up with the greats that are today. Like: Sykrim,Bioshock, Uncharted,Batman, and so much more, that I sure only %10 of Nintendo fanboys have played.

I have a feeling fanboys just hate fun games.

No thank you. Maybe for characters other than link, but no way do I want it on the most well known silent protagonist. He does talk though, it's just left to the audience to imagine how he sounds and what he says. And that's definitely something I dig about the series.

People are just saying they like Link silent, which is super cool indeed, and some think that adding voices to other characters will make that weird. It has nothing to do with games being more fun or fanboys. There is voice acting in other Nintendo games. Sometimes it was indeed a mistake, see Nintendo Land. Sometimes it's great, Kid Icarus. Finally, Nintendo "fanboys" got to experience the best Batman on Wii U.

[sarcasm]Yes voice acting, heaven forbid we should do some reading. They should also re-release the Half Life games with updated graphics and 10 hours of gordon freeman dialogue.[/sarcasm]

Yes, they should. It's not like Link needs to talk, anyway. I loved the voice acting in Half Life, and it's not like Gordon Freeman said anything in it.

So by that logic why do we need voice acting in the Zelda games? Nothing (beyond "Hey Listen") was verbally said and we still love the games.

And as for today's "greats," games like "Little Inferno," "Minecraft," "Scribblenauts," "Phoenix Wright" and the early LEGO games have little to no voice acting, but it doesn't stop them from being great games.

I still say it's people being lazy, it is quicker to get through a few lines of text by reading than by listening to someone read them out.

That's a good point. Sometimes it's exaggerated. I'm playing Tomb Raider now and they have these diary entries. You read it in a few seconds yet the voice acting is so slow I'm sure everyone just skips it anyway, making it a waste.
