Link isn't exactly known for his masculinity, and given how many times he's reincarnated over the years, wouldn't it make sense that at least one of those reincarnations was female? I know how this would pan out as is, as a cheap attempt at creating a strong female lead by gender-bending a previously male lead, but something about it just seems... right.

Edit: Included some nice pictures found by kyuubikid213. So far it seems like about 70% of you are against this idea. Some because of a stronger sense of tradition. Most because you don't want to see a male Zelda. We've discussed means of sidestepping the issue of a direct gender-bend for no reason by introducing the character as Link and Zelda's daughter, playing as Zelda herself, and even playing as Link's mom. The reasoning for this kind of change is for Nintendo, a powerful artistic force in what is potentially THE most potent medium, to challenge societal norms about gender roles, thereby directly addressing accusations of sexism present in their most popular series'.
What do you think? Would a new more feminine Link be a breath of fresh air or needless breaking of tradition?
