Topic: Should I only play one game at a time?

Other than multiplayer games like Splatton, Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8, would it be better for me to play one game at a time until I compete it before moving onto other games?

I want to get Yoshi's Wooly World, but I also want to beat the games I already have. I am about half way done to completing Captain Toad's treasure tracker and I'm trying to do a 100% complete, but I also have owned Windwaker and DK Tropical Freeze and have barely played them. I also recently got Pimin 3 and haven't even played it yet. I know people say the Wii U doesn't have enough games but I am a little overwhelmed with games right now.

I have taken a break from Mario Maker at the moment but I'm thinking I shouldn't play all my solo games until I beat the one I'm already playing.

So right now I'm focusing on Captain Toad.

The other games I have :

Pikmin 3
Wind Waker
DK: Tropical Freeze
Yoshi's Wooly World (will be getting)

Which order should I play them in if I do focus only on one game at a time (I think that's the way to go). I also wanted Hyrule Warriors.

I usually get a game when I want it, even if I have a huge backlog. I figure I'll eventually beat them all; I'll play a certain game when it sounds fun. I don't think you should force yourself to beat a game just so you can buy and play a new one without any backlog. I would go ahead and get Yoshi or Hyrule, and play any of the games you mentioned above when they sound fun. Variety isn't a bad thing.

If you do want to go in order, though, I would either play Wind Waker or DK first. Those games are quite long and fun; same with Pikmin 3, but you can make Pikmin 3 either really long or short depending on how you play it. Hyrule Warriors has a lot of challenges and missions to complete, so it'll keep you busy for a while. Out of all these games, Hyrule is my favorite, so I totally recommend getting that game!

That's what I do. I usually try many at once, but eventually I focus on one. For example, currently I'm on a Destiny binge, despite also having FF Type-0, The Evil Within, Dragon Age, FF14, and eventually Triforce Heroes this week all in my backlog.

If I focus on one I tend to really appreciate it as a game more.

Pikmin 3, Wind Waker and Captain Toad are all fairly easy to complete. Tropical Freeze and Woolly World are pretty tough, TF is just really challenging and Woolly World has so many collectibles. So that's something to take in consideration I guess.

I try to play one at a time on each system (Wii U and 3DS). I might make an exception if one is laid back and one more intense (I played Captain Toad and Xenoblade at the same time, for example). I am in the same boat as you and have personally decided not to buy any new games until the new Club Nintendo replacement is at least announced. I have Bayonetta 2, Mass Effect 3, Wonderful 101, and Pandora's Tower that I have not played yet (just off the top of my head, there may be more); so I am not lacking in games to play. I am also currently trying to 100% Captain Toad. And I have yet to get Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Maker, Wooly World, and probably quite a few others that I really want. As I have said many times before, anybody who says the Wii U does not have enough games really needs to get a life because they have way too much time and money on their hands.

I tend to just play what I feel like playing. A few months ago I felt my backlog was getting ridiculous and that I needed to focus on completing games with campaigns to restore a but of discipline and stop the endless sprawl of the growing game pile.

So I committed to finishing Wind Waker HD, but I still haven't. While some aspects of the game are great, I don't really find it enjoyable a lot of the time, and sometimes it is just a complete ball-ache. I've never played a Zelda before and not used to its idiosyncrasies.

So I also play Watch_Dogs and Splatoon currently on my Wii U.

But that's not even the start of it. I've got about 6 games on the go on my 3DS, 3 on PC (plus a host of recent purchases I've dipped my toe in, and Red Dead Redemption on the PS3.

Undoubtedly you get to know a game better by playing it exclusively until you're done, but with most games I need a break from them way before they're finished, but I rarely write off the idea of going back to them. So I try something else until I'm in the mood to go back. It's messy, inefficient and indulgent, but they're 3 words I try to live my life by anyway

You guys had me at blood and semen.

I would suggest one at a time, unless you have four or more arms and great multitasking abilities.
Oh, you mean it thaaaaaaaaaat way...
Um, I guess I've always found a game more memorable and immersive if I direct my focus solely on that specific game.

Currently bored (while change when I stop being bored)

I find that when I come across a truly great game—Skyrim, Zeldas, The Last of Us, etc—it becomes my singular focus simply as a matter of course.

i play many games at once and the truly great ones get completed. having said that, this year I've been playing so much Project M that I probably haven't finished anything!

If I have a new game I usually play it solely until completion, though I never aim to 100%, just complete the main story/quest/campaign.

If I don't have anything new to play, that's when I jump back & forth a bit more between games. Since I don't have anything new at the moment, on the home console front I'm jumping between Zone of the Enders: the Second Runner HD (replaying boss fights) & Super Mario Galaxy (just playing previously completed missions, since it's been a long time). On the portable front, I'm jumping between Ace Combat: AHL & NightSky (simply replaying both).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I'll play the games I'm interested in playing until I'm no-longer interested. For some that means completion, for others it means I might not get around to them. Whether or not I get something else doesn't factor into it. However the "guilt" of not beating a game? It's only something I think about if the game wasn't on sale, is something I should play AND I haven't spent a fair amount of time on.

My completion rate for the three platforms I play games on:
Wii U: 85%
3DS: 85%
PC: 30% (sales and bundles)

I play like five games at a time and beat two of them usually and the other games I would get bored of.

Just play til it stops being fun.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

That's what I do. I hate having multiple games on the go. I look at it the same way I look at books; I don't read multiple books at the same time. I finish one story before moving onto another. Same thing with games, even if they're not story-driven.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

well i try to do just one at a time. sometimes it is hard but i think it is better for an overall experience with a game if you don't take breaks for it for other games. i wanna get lost in a game if i really like it

Depends on how much time you got at your hand. If you have a lot of spare time to play video games, I'd say go for playing more then one game. Switch between games when you want to do something different, and when you get bored go back and play the game you was playing before.

If you have a lot of unfinished games, you should beat them before buying new ones. But of course if you bought a game and it didn't interest you, you shouldn't force yourself to finish them.

Just to say again, I am not counting games like Splatoon, Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros since those are games I already finished all the single player modes I wanted to and now only play them casually online.

I mean other than those, I want to play only one single player. When I'm done with Captain Toad, I would like to start either Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze or maybe Yoshi's Wooly World.

I want to buy Bayonetta 2, Yoshi's Wooly World and Hyrule Warriors.
