And that's the one thing I hate about the 360, proprietary hard drives. Microsoft doesn't give consumers a choice, you are forced to use their custom, overpriced hard drives. And now Sony is doing the same thing with the Vita.

Yes.
Well Mircosoft made the Xbox at a time where they didn't think that they would have to switch out Drives.
But yeah scratch the SSD. Its at least $800 for a 500GB one.
WAT!

But the Slim Xbox 360's could have used normal hard drives, but Microsoft just had to make them proprietary...again.
I understand Microsoft's reasoning for going proprietary, to keep people from copying data to a PC and distribute it over the internet. But in that case, wouldn't it be easy for people to do that with PS3 hard drives, since their just normal laptop drives?

You would have to re-design the console and that would screw up comptability with people with old consoles.
and My 120GB Harddrive with Cloud Saving is enough so far.

I dunno about you, but my 500GB hard drive hardly takes space or anything at all. It's not like I'll be moving my WiiU every month or week.. or something..
I don't really care what the harddrive is capable of in consoles as far as mechanical or flash. I just don't want the thing too expensive. Remember the PS3 during the first year or so? Of course that's because of blu-ray, but same thing could happen with SSD. It's not healthy to dream too big....major disappointments coming your way if you expect too much from Wii-U.
Using an actual PC is a different story, but SSDs are way to expensive per GB, than what you can get with a mechanical drive. Come back in up to 5 years then we'll talk. Otherwise i'm going to just be using SSD for a boot drive, or something small.
Anyway I do agree that RAM should be up to snuff because of terrible problems with Skyrim on the PS3. That's just one of the perfect examples of why you should at least somewhat future proof your system. Now the PS3 is just fine otherwise, it's ultimately up to the developers to make fantastic use out of the hardware and create fantastic looking games that run smooth for the system. Some devs do it better than others. (Bethesda < Naughty Dog)
It's exciting to speculate what the Wii-U is gonna do.And i'm hoping for the best like all of you. I want a powerful system that can at least be compared to last gen in terms of power (Ps2 < GC < Xbox) I think I got that right. 'Cept for ps2 could be the Wii-U in terms of comparison. Ps4 and Xbox-Next, whatever they will be might be indeed (much?) more powerful, but i'm gonna be darned happy with what i'm currently hearing about the Wii-U.

and My 120GB Harddrive with Cloud Saving is enough so far.
The older Xbox 360's used a hard drive that sits on top of the system, while the Xbox 360 Slim uses a hard drive that goes inside. The new hard drive is still in a custom casing, it's completely different than the old hard drives.
Old hard drive:
New hard drive (Xbox 360 Slim):
I have to say, I really like the new Xbox 360 Slim design. It's so sleek and futuristic looking, and it makes the PS3 Slim look like a cheap hunk of plastic.

One of the things I hate about Micro$oft, they love charging you up the butt for their proprietary crap. And then sometimes they'll screw you over when their "new" "upgraded" devices use different proprietary crap.
I'm pretty okay.

You mean apple right?
The only two products that are in any sense propitiatory from Mircosoft are Xbox and Windows Phone.

Hmm, same for Apple. I'm also talking about Windows. A new copy of Windows is usually $100+ dollars, whereas a new copy of OSX costs ~$30. And the fact that those XBox 360 Memory Cards cost a crapload more than a flashdrive with the same (or even more) size. I'm not surprised they phased those out, they probably weren't selling very well.
I'm pretty okay.
