Entertain the thought with me for a second.. Do you think its possible? (I know I'm being Delusional.. But yea! Just play along!)
I started thinking about this after seeing the "4 Gaming Legends" trailer for Super Smash with Mario, Sonic, Megaman & Pacman.. and then I started thinking about other ventures.. I looked at the Project X Zone.. could this be foreshadowing for the biggest event to ever happen in Gaming History? What do you think? and How epic would it be if its true!

It would be a start.
And however unlikely it may be if it were ever to happen they better all keep their names.

I suppose it's possible, but unlikely. Capcom is already looking at a deal with Tencent, and if they take it, then it's as good as gone. Namco Bandai is doing all right financially so it probably won't need a buyout/merger for a while. SEGA though, I think they're next on the chopping block, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up in the same position as Capcom in the next 5 years or so. But unlike Capcom, I think it's highly likely that Nintendo would buy out SEGA, or at least buy out Sonic. Sonic would probably be a huge money maker for them, not just because he's a well known gaming mascot, but because they could cash in on 90's gaming rivalries on a regular basis. You think Mario & Sonic at the Olympics or Sonic in Smash is enough? Try Mario & Sonic platformers, Mario & Sonic Kart racing, Mario & Sonic pretty much anything.

Namco and SEGA are both aligned with tertiary markets, toys for Namco (Bandai) and gambling for SEGA (Sammy) and neither is in any danger of failure. They will not merge with Nintendo. Capcom is more stubborn and would be satisfied to crank out Resident Evil and DLC for the rest of their days rather than merge or sell.

And all three 3rd parties enjoy being multiplat. All three also give plenty of support to Nintendo.

Pointless and incredibly unlikely merger is pointless and incredibly unlikely.

But more than that, I don't understand why them all being under one banner would improve the quality of any of their products.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

To be honest the thing that sparked my curiosity is the fact that Nintendo confirmed that all Super Smash Characters will have their own Amiibo figures.. which are promised to be utilized in more platforms in the future.. What will this mean for Megaman and Pacman, and Sonic too.. Will there be future games with these characters at Nintendo?
But you are right.. Logically speaking its a very unlikely scenario that does not make sense..but I do believe it could potentially be a win win situation.. Nintendo will gain more inhouse developers and now having to create games on their own consoles (Wii U & 3DS) they could have the freedom to create the games like Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Naruto, Megaman, Monkey Ball.. Nintendo now is trying to break the "Kiddy image" with games like Bayonetta and Devil's Third.. and it would just be a 90s gamer heaven!

If Ninty's planning to acquire someone i think and hope they're smart enough to see it as a long-term task. They'd at least need more of their own people who really understand how Nintendo stuff works and can be something like a counsel for these devs. How long does it take from hiring someone until he's ready for that? 2 years at least?

Exactly! I think it could be in the works since 2012.. Namco Bandai helping out with Smash, Capcom having Mega Man join smash & Monster Hunter for nintendo only.. and Sega with Sonic.. it could be just regular 3rd party support.. but it could be something more..

But the real reason these companies are helping is because Nintendo is under the pump this gen and falling further behind the pack

They really shouldn't. Capcom is not in a healthy situation moneywise, SEGA is making most of it's money on PC nowadays and Namco Bandai doesn't have enough really big IPs to be a valuable investment.

Sega are doing well. The Sammy part is still making money hand over fist as always. Border Break is the number one Arcade game in Japan. Football Manager prints money. Total War is hardly ever discounted (So it must be selling on Steam). Aliens flopped and if the next one also does they might get rid of that part. I don't know about the bit that does anime.

Nintendo should buy Capcom and bring back Street Fighter and other brands to WiiU

This can never happen. The name would just be too long you won't be able to fit it in the credit screen, or even in the box art.

Trying to merge to save yourselves? Disgraceful! SEPUKU!

Seriously though, 4 major companies merging? POWER OVERWHELMING.

SEGA's console division is failing though. Sonic hasn't been selling as well lately because the series has major problems with identity (they keep flip flopping between very different gameplay styles and never stick with one style consistently), and besides that it has what, a handful of niche games? Most of its IPs are either dead, dying, or irrelevant.

IDK Japanese law that well, but I would think that wouldn't be an issue unless it results in a monopoly.

Gross, Capcom as we knew it is dead and Sega's best IPS are in the catacombs while they try to force a new Sonic on us every second. I love Bamco as they have lots of solid titles and they are always represented at any shows i go to in the UK. The even gave me a free 3DS case and a free t-shirt . Plus it means we would get Gundam games on Wii U which would be awesome.
