So if this is as big as the original game and is set to release late this year (assuming around the same time as NSMBU released last year) This must be Nintendo's idea on supplying more 2D Mario games without publishing more and more games when they all play similarly.
I think $10-$15 would be more than fair considering we already spent $60 for this game, it's not like the content is standalone. Unfortunately, I wouldn't put it past them to charge $30 (which, with the game and sales tax it ends up being like $100 for the game and its DC content). A full $50-$60 would be ridiculous, it might as well be sold as a separate game then. Depending on the price, this sort of support could really start drawing people to their new system and, if it becomes a trend, really exciting for fans (imagine them giving us another six Nintendo Land attractions for $10 or an extra post game quest in Pikmin 3 for $15). They can just throw in content that got cut for time reasons or reuse textures and models and make some easy money while we get some more game for free after we've already had the title for awhile.
Another idea is to reward early buyers by giving them a slightly lower price tag on the extra content, what better way to convince players to often buy early on when the price hasn't been cut yet? Or players who register it (encouraging them to buy new instead of used)?
Either way, I hope the price is fair and this becomes a trend, it really helps offset the $60 price tags with the HD console games.
Dude, you should be in Nintendo's freaking marketing department!
Thanks, I wouldn't mind that but I don't know it I'm qualified, I've experience in game design and took some marketing classes but don't have a marketing degree. More on topic, I think this could give a huge boost to Nintendo's PR if done right. I've talked to quite a few people who avoided NSMBU simply because they felt it didn't have enough content for $60, so they will pick it up used or wait for a price cut. This sort of support to Nintendo's games could convince consumers that their titles are worthy investments, especially with a low enough price. The content is easier to push out (in this case, all the framework is in place and they just need to design new stages) so Nintendo can offer it for way less than a game would cost while still making a profit. It's way better than throwing us a new NSMB title every year and I could see this easily being a win for everyone if they price and market it correctly. Even at $20 (which I hope they don't exceed) this is still a great idea, though I'm really hoping it's in the $10-$15 range, like I said we already gave them a fair amount of cash for the investment and this is much cheaper for them than if they made it from scratch. Even if they charged $10 for the first month the DLC is out (and advertise it a bit), I imagine the game's sales could make a huge jump.

£10-20 seems reasonable to me, at least this is a good sign that Nintendo wants to make DLC with actual meat to it. I hope this rings true with other games (Smash could have it's interest last a lot longer than it already got with some well excecuted DLC)

Exactly. A game like Smash Bros comes only once a console but imagine them about once a year for a few years releasing a massive pack of new characters, stages, items, and modes? The expansions could potentially have unlockables and everything, simply adding a bunch of content to the existing game, and for like $15-$20? I think that would be amazing.

Better for something to be DLC than waste shipping units.
I think I smell Dry Bowser as the final boss. (It smells like roasting turtle, you can't miss it)

I think I can guess the plot! Bowser redoes his plan to hold Peach hostage in her own castle by taking over it, but this time captures Mario, Yellow Toad, and Blue Toad too! Oddly he doesn't capture Luigi; he just sends him flying. So now it's up to Luigi and Luigi only to save Mario, Peach, and the Toads!
Games I'm playing currently: Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds, Tearaway
Games I'm excited for: Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. 4, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8

@MultiMarioSonic Maybe he just assumes that Luigi won't be able to defeat him since he thinks he's just Mario's sidekick, and the whole game is about proving Luigi's worth, and that he's better than Mario!
I'm guessing the levels are all going to use the same resources as the main game, so my fear is that it's going to be a big case of deja vu. Not such a problem for $10-$15 but if the price is higher than that I'm not so sure I'll pick it up.
