I agree! I also would like some new franchises! Though Splatoon is sadly not my thing (its multiplayer only), and Project Steam is just a "Maybe" for me at the moment.
But about what you suggested (story driven games): Nintendo isn't really the "story" company. Its always gameplay before story. I don't think they'll change that anytime soon.

Actually Splatoon is supposed to have a single player experience and Nintendo not the story company? Paper Mario and the thousand year door and Super Paper Mario says whats up.

Sakurai said that he will not be making another Kid Icarus game, so it will take some time to find someone else to do it.

About rehashing old ideas: would be very cool to have a new WarioWare D.I.Y. that lets you share microgames via Miiverse.
I like the idea of an open world Kirby, but I still think Dillon's Rolling Western would be a better choice for an OW because...I mean, it's a western, saloons, caves, monsters that come out at certain times of the day, it doesn't need vehicles because Dillon already is a vehicle etc - this game is writing itself.

Personally I think Wave Race & 1080 are the more need revived franchsies than the usual suspects of F Zero, Ice Climbers and the other ones people are asked for.
Metroid-something. Don't care what it is. Also a 3D kirby game where kirby moves around in 3 dimensions. I think kirby has been the only character by Nintendo to NOT leave side-scrolling behind in a main game.

Mario Sunshine Sequal. Kirby Air Ride 2 with 12 players online. Rosalina's own game.
I think that if the writers of the Paper Mario, or Mario and Luigi games came together to write an origin story game for Rosalina, I think it would awesome! I can imagine it kind of being like child of light, where you play as Rosalina as a little girl, but with comedic elements that Mario RPGs are known for.

Can't Nintendo create a kickstarter-esque voting system, where every Nintendo gamer (with a club nintendo account) could vote for new games and then fund it (buying a copy of the game at the same time - full price for a physical release and a discounted amount for digital, with some extra options available as well). I would gladly drop cash for new F-Zero and Metroid Prime that way.
Excellent idea. A win-win situation for big N and customers alike.
My money goes to a Metroid Prime like game for the 3DS or even a Metroid 2.5 platformer.
Sorry I keep posting, I just have a lot of ideas in my head . Having the ability to play 3DS games on a TV would also be awesome! Not unlike the Game Boy player.

Good thing Nintendo has already gone through all the different Mario games on the 3DS, and is making their way through them on Wii U. Expect a Paper Mario and a Mario sports game (Strikers, Sluggers) on Wii U, and then a Galaxy 3 or Galaxy successor.
This sounds about right. They're already working on a new Mario game, and they've said they'd love a new Galaxy game, so I have a feeling we'll see Galaxy 3 by next E3. I can imagine we'll see Paper Mario and some kind of Mario sports game within the next year or two as well.
KId Icarus: Upring seque(or differnt adventures following because it'd really be a huge waste and upset to've brought the series back ust for 1 new game excluding series' like Super Smash Bros), and Pokemon MMO is really all I want, or at least make it (Pokemon) multi-regional.
