Topic: Miyamoto wants to know what you want Nintendo to make for Wii U

Miyamoto made an interesting request for Kotaku about what its readers want Nintendo to make for Wii U:

"So certainly, for Kotaku readers, they know there are a lot of different hardware platforms, and I hope that they look at those as necessarily a competition between all the platforms but really that each platform has its own uniqueness. One of the uniquenesses of Wii U [is that] this is a device that’s really suited to being connected to the TV in your living room, and it has a lot of very convenient applications that you can use there. We’re going to continue to design our games in a way that are suited to play in the living room—whether it’s one person playing and everyone enjoying that by watching—but we’re also working on a number of additional games that we’re designing and releasing next year as well. We hope that everybody is looking forward to that and that we’re designing experiences that you can only do on the Wii U GamePad so I hope everyone will support us and look forward to our products. Maybe you can do a poll for Kotaku readers to see which game you want us to make for Wii U, and, if you get a good answer, you can give us a call."

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the deafening roar of Nintendo fans clamouring for a new F Zero game. What new Mario is Miyamoto talking about?

Like I said in the other thread, I imagine no matter what Kotaku (or even Nintendo Life users) would pick to be made, it would still probably flop. How often are the favourite games of internet message boards the best selling games? The ones that seem loved the most are quite often complete sales flops, like everything Platinum puts out.

Still, I'm leaving an F-Zero comment

That robot game should be made into a sequel to Urban Champion.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

Off the top of my head:

  • Tomb Raider-esque climbing and acrobatics in Zelda U
  • Harder puzzles in Zelda U, less combat
  • An Other M-style Metroid game (no more Prime, please)
  • A Miyamoto take on Nights Into Dreams

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
