It's obvious that this game is better off being on the Occulus Rift right?

If you're straining your hand then you're doing it wrong.Your hand should be rested on your leg or whatever you're sitting on and only the smallest wrist movements are needed for aiming.Any other way is just making it hard for yourself!

That's exactly how I played it. It's just not for me. I often like, for exemple, to lay down in my couch for a while when I'm playing. Pointer controls don't allow for that - you have to always be perfectly aligned with the sensor bar. I just can't stand that.

I guess I'll eventually keep trying, but I have a feeling I'll never really finish the first Metroid Prime due to this (let alone the entire trilogy).

Really? I can lay down on the couch easily and play. I think people get this mind set that this is the only way to play when in reality it's not that difficult.

It's not a "mind set". It's years of actually trying those controls in all sorts of games, and always being disappointed. Is it so hard to believe that something you enjoy isn't for everyone?

If there's any support I think this re-release of the Prime Trilogy needed, it's Miiverse support. Not having a discussion community for three games with somewhat high discussion potential is a huge miss on Nintendo's part.

I don't think that's possible, since the console goes into Wii mode. They could create a community, but screenshots'd be impossible.

You might want to get a wireless sensor bar, you could place that where ever you want so you don't have to point at the TV. You could place it on a table then aim near the table. It might sound weird but it totally works.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Are the ingame online features in Prime 2 dead?

this is the first FPS I've ever played with the wiimote, and, once getting used to it, I have no problems whatsoever. It's so much better than using a traditional controller.
btw: it took me a good 5 hours of play time to get used to the wiimote completely. It was pretty difficult to move and aim at first, but then it felt very natural.

FPS: WiiMote/NC = KB/Mouse > Traditional Controller
Arcade/Fighting: Traditional Controller > WiiMote/NC > KB/Mouse
3D Platformer: Traditional Controller = WiiMote/NC > KB/Mouse
Racing: Proper racing setup > Any Controller > KB/Mouse
Strategy: KB/Mouse > All
Third Person Action: Traditional Controller > All
2D Platformer: Nintendo's D-Pad > All

... then you get a third person action game with heavy shooting elements and lots of quick time events and you spend half the game swapping controls. So you give up and use a traditional controller for everything because the game doesn't require much skill anyways

It does need a Wii u pad support because that wii remote gets old when you are on your bed laying down and playing. And playing on that game pad with the wii controls gives you a neck ache that caise whip lash in the morning.

If a Wii remote is outdated, then that makes standard controllers archaic.

Unlike most "waggle" games, the MPT works exceptionally well with the Wii remote setup, insomuch that it makes it far superior to traditional controller setups. The only thing it pales in comparison for such first-person games is the KB+Mouse setup. As others have said, this is not a remake, remaster, etc. It's not even a port. It's the original game with a few changes to how it loads/unloads on the system. It still plays in Wii mode, and retains everything it needs to get it running. There's just no Wii System Menu to deal with.

Oh, no sir! Proper Arcade Setup > all in this case.

It is just like playing Wii mode and we all know that was last generation

Hell no! I like the way it is. After all it was released for the Wii. If you don't like the wiimote then don't buy games that use it. It's that simple. BTW, I'd love the option to play the next Zelda with wiimote/nunchuck. Please note that I said "option". Not that is going to happen anyway...

I can understand that. Because of the great Off-TV-feature everything must have a GamePad control. I guess, Metroid Prime looks the best in 480p on the GamePad and many want to play with the GamePad. But using the WiiMote and the GamePad is very uncomfortable because the WiiMote has to be in a short distance in front of the screen.

I'm playing the game on my old TV in 480i and love seeing the game in 16:9.

I significantly prefer the Wii Remote + Nunchuk controls compared to GC controller for Prime 1 and 2. To me, if a standard controller is used then either a c-stick or 2nd analog stick should always be present for camera control in true 3D games (Kid Icarus Uprising is a sole exception where another method works very well). This is not the case with Prime 1 and 2 (c-stick allows you to switch weapons).

If you like the wii mote then don't buy it is just ridiculous. I love prime I played it on the gamecube and loved it. I get the wii mote its lazy of nintendo to this and you know it. What is wrong with giving their fans more options.
