@ricklongo "Having to strain my hand to point at the TV while I play is just not the kind of thing I like to do in video games"

If you're straining your hand then you're doing it wrong.Your hand should be rested on your leg or whatever you're sitting on and only the smallest wrist movements are needed for aiming.Any other way is just making it hard for yourself!

I have never heard anyone who has played MPT complain about it's motion controls. No one has the rights to complain if they haven't played the game yet. The controls are perfect. There's absolutely no reason for them to include another option. Especially since it's not as easy as some seem to think. If this game had an online mode and other controller options it would be fun to destroy people who use Gamepad while I have Wiimote and superior, extremely precise aiming.

It's its, not it's.

I have even been playing this on the Gamepad Screen using the Wiimote, no Issue. There is no need for classic control / Gamepad control support unless you are wanting to play whilst on the Kermit.
It's not like Wii Sports (dance around looking like a tit) motion controls. As most have pointed out already, you barely have to move the remote, just rest it on your lap or hold it next to the Nunchuck. Don't knock it till you tried it

I have just bought and tried MPT, and I've got to say, this game does not need Wii U controller support. The Wii remote works perfectly. I didn't get used to aiming with it, but after about an hour, I can see now why people prefer Wiimote when playing shooter games like CoD.

Anyway, to OP: It's difficult to release an update that make Wii U controller work with an original Wii game.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

Wiimote is perfect for MPT as it is for Pikmins' games. Am I the only one who play with hands on laps and elbows on armrests? I do it with any type of controller and have no problem. Maybe changing a low soft couch with an office chair will solve everything!

I always thought the image of the Wii's controllers were way off what I actually experienced. There were a few games where it was heavy on the motion controls but once you got used to it it was fantastic. It's just about the only controller that allows you to play the game with your arms in whatever position you want AND you get the precision of the pointer in games that need it. The whine was always pretty far from the reality.

That said.... I'd take off-TV pay with one device in hand over juggling the WiiMote and GamePad. So I understand both sides of the argument. I just also understand why they did it the way they did given that they didn't build the game with the Wii U eShop in mind.

There are games where motion controls get in the way or are annoying (Hyrule Warriors come to mind), but this isn't one of them. Using the pointer is the most intuitive interface for a first person game; Resident Evil 4 would have benefitted from using the pointer to move the camera in aim-mode also.

I think everyone that complains about Metroid Prime trilogy controls scheme haven't played Metroid Prime Trilogy yet.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

I'm sorry Nintendo, but why? Why force people to use an outdated peripheral when we have this fantastic WiiU Remote, complete with display, that you could port functionality for to the Prime Trilogy? The logic kind of escapes me...

Metroid Prime Trilogy is the only game I will play with a wii remote and nunchuck combo to BEGIN with. It's THAT good with the wii remote.

I would play Mario Galaxy 2 / This with a wiimote + nunchuk by choice. (Same cannot be said for Kirby or DKCR which I would prefer to just use normal controls for).

After playing it for about 30 mins, I can say this game(s) do not need analog stick aiming (which sucks anyway) AT ALL. Switching to the scanning visor is a bit annoying, but that's minor.

plenty of games have done stick aiming very skillfully. does it offer the option to change sensitivity?

Mouse aiming is always better when it comes to FPS.

I definitely think Metroid Prime Hunters offers a much freer and more accurate experience with aiming Samus's arm cannon around, but I'm glad that the Metroid Prime Trilogy has motion controls. Compared to the original GCN games, it's a world of difference. To every other Metroid game, I think those versions kind of suck. I only did one completion in the first Prime on GCN, and then maybe a third of a run. My attempts trying to beat Echoes never reached that accomplishment. It wasn't until the Trilogy that I thought these were great games, aside from Corruption, which already had proper controls. Prime I've now completed around 10 times and Echoes twice. The Metroid Prime Trilogy's controls offers a superior experience in my opinion.

If there's any support I think this re-release of the Prime Trilogy needed, it's Miiverse support. Not having a discussion community for three games with somewhat high discussion potential is a huge miss on Nintendo's part.

False! This game is WAY better with Wii Remote. The GameCube controls were ... well, they were what they were at the time, but by today's standards, they're awful. I went back to play the original a few weeks ago, before I know about the re-release, and I couldn't stand playing past the first level.

This way is the best way to play. If you're playing with your arm sticking out in front of you, you're not doing it right.
