i dont play mario games and i have to disagree with you.
if gaming is causing you this much trouble youd be better off finding another hobby.

Preaching to the choir, buddy. NSMB and 3D series are really boring and uncreative, I wish they would move on to something new already, I miss the days when we got games based on entirely new concepts like Sunshine and Galaxy.
You haven't played 3D World. Anyone who has played that game knows it's creative. Pointlesss negatively FTW!
Smash Mains:
N64: Captain Falcon
Melee: Mario
Brawl: Sonic
Project M: Link
Smash 3DS: Captain Falcon
Smash Wii U: Ganondorf
So now we've gone from making a thread for every little thought that popped into our head to making MULTIPLE threads for every little thought that popped into our head.

3D World is not creative, it's the same crap as 3D Land, which in turn is the same crap as NSMB in 3D. The gameplay is the exact same thing in every NSMB and 3D series game. Mario is long overdue for an actual change in gameplay beyond layering on gimmicky powerups and one off level gimmicks.
speaking of washed up...i seen you bathing but i wasnt spying...really i wasnt
ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED.

I think you set your expectations too high for some of these games. Either that or you are nitpicking at too much detail
I dunno, I set my expectations pretty high for Super Mario 3D World, and I've been having a seriously hard time coming up with things worth nitpicking with 3D World, too. I think the OP may just be spouting bullcrap.

It's the exact same gameplay as 3D Land, just with different level and gimmicks. In other words, it's just feels like an extension of 3D Land (and to a lesser degree, NSMB) and I'm just playing one long game broken up into two parts instead of two different ones. 3D World feels more appropriate as 3D Land DLC, not its own game. Nintendo needs to avoid make Mario games feel too similar to each other from now on, it's getting boring.

No, I don't think it is. Games get bland and boring if they repeat themselves as much as Mario has, they have to shake things up every once in a while to keep things fun. And after 5 games of them repeating the same gameplay, we've definitely crossed into "bland and boring" territory.

The game controls different than 3D Land, trust me I've played it. My main gripe with 3D Land was the mediocre stiff controls, and 3D World fixed that. It's a freaking sequel, of course they're going to have similarities.

Going by your logic, Sonic 2 is just DLC of Sonic 1. lol

"Exact same gameplay as 3D Land" you say? I don't remember being able to ride stuff like Plessy or play multiplayer in 3D Land. The Cat Suit was able to make new puzzles that 3D Land hasn't done. So I dunno what you mean about them being absolutely the same.

Sequels do not need to have the exact same gameplay. The Metroid Prime trilogy is a good example of this, there are very striking differences in gameplay between each iteration, but they still stick to the same gameplay formula. Or if you consider all of the collectathon games to be sequels to each other, Sunshine and Galaxy are good examples too, you have new gameplay elements like FLUDD and gravity mechanics which affect the gameplay in significant ways. We need to see a gameplay change closer to this scale.

Except the Spin Dash actually had a significant effect on the gameplay. Nothing Mario has done since Galaxy has that same level of significance or pervasiveness in the gameplay.

Plessy is a gimmick that only show up in a few levels, and powerups aren't really used that much either.

If you don't like Mario, don't play it. Simple as that.

It's not that I don't like it, it's that the series has gotten stale.

The game is a follow up to 3D Land, I don't know what you were expecting. In fact, I don't know why you bought the game in the first place.

I loved 3D World, its one of my favorite Mario games to date and is loads of fun and very creative!!!!!!! In my opinion Mario is far from being washed up.

I honestly blame the rushed NSMB nonsense to have killed those games for me (not exactly...but...)
I didn't buy 3D World exclusively because of its lame reveal and how much the NSMB sequels made me NOT want to see more retro Mario style games. I would be more ok with the "hey let's make our next couple of games closer to the old 2d games" idea if they weren't already running that into the ground. If anything, it's a cool thing to do for a while, but I like variety too much to keep putting my money towards the same thing. it actively made me unexcited and cynical for the first HD game in my favorite series, and I really, truly can't forgive that.
