So only first party counts? You can't just come up with a standard to push the point you want to make. If only first party releases count, so should for the other two.
A game is a game. It's not like there are thousand of eShop releases and only one retail release in the upcoming months. It's a quite good mix of first party retail, eShop and some third party retail releases.

Well since the thread is Nintendo draught I suppose only 1st party does count

The context of this thread is obviously about notable retail releases and I imagine most are mostly interested in 1st party games on the hardware.
And this isnt news and its expected at this point. If you're posting on a gaming forum then you probably have some type of backlog and this is a good time to play some of those games.
Well, gives me time to save up for a 3DS XL. MK8, Pikmin 3, QUBE: DC and (surprisingly) Brain Training'll keep me entertained 'till I buy it together with Smash (bundle w/ black 3DS XL, please?), so I don't really care. And summer's also not really the season in wjich people buy home consoles.

If you're buying the Wii U then there is no problem, there's enough top Ninty titles out now as well as lots of cheap 3rd Party games too. It's the existing Wii U owners who are complaining.
I see people complaining about not having enough games. Meanwhile, I'm over here, saving up big just to buy enough games to keep up with what releases there are. Backlog? What's that? I haven't got the money for it! You don't see me complaining about not having enough games, though. I'm just waiting for my next paycheck so I can get Tomodachi Life or Mario Golf or play through Rusty's Real Deal Baseball. Maybe save enough to buy Gunman Clive 2, whenever it comes out. I hope when I get back to work, I'll have enough time to build up money for Hyrule Warriors. I hope I can get the funds for Smash 3DS, right after that.
But then I come on here and see people being absolute ninnies about this apparent drought? Learn to replay your games. Try to actually get $60 worth out of them. I'd love to be able to say that I have no backlog, but it's gonna be a very long time before I can pretend I'm serious, when I say that, let alone actually be right.

Existing owner here, not complaining, I have both One Piece and Transformers pre-ordered for the 27th and i'll be picking up Pushmo World next next week. By then i should have finished off How to Survive and Minish Cap inbetween my Age of Wonders (PC) and Gundam Extreme VS Full Burst(PS3) multiplayer sessions. I'll also be picking up UFC for PS4 on the 20th June (my 3rd retail game since launch). Retail is not the be all and end all unless you live in the 90's.
Retail wise there is not much announced for Wii U until after summer but VC, Nintendo EShop and indie games will fill the gap nicely. Its worth noting that the next two weeks eshop will have at least 3 new games a week (including VC), and the last couple weeks we have also had a minimum of 2-3 games. Shovel Knight, Guacameele etc are coming very soon and if people ignore these VC and digital titles then sure there is a drought, but its entirety artificial and subjective.

Do you own a Wii U? I own a Wii U that I bought about a month or so after launch, and my problem since last summer has been that I haven't been able to get the time to play all the Wii U games I really want to play. The OP complains, because the OP seemingly only wants Nintendo releases. Many other existing Wii U users in this thread seems to think differently than the OP.
PS4 and Xbox One have similar Summer droughts until September when big releases start. It is part of the game industry yearly cycle since the 1980's. I love the downtime of summer to actually catch up on my backlog (work takes a LOT of time to pay for this hobby I just finished W101 and I've had it since it launched last summer! (Great game BTW).

That cycle did have something to do for the Summer (Play the new Arcade games).

Now it's notable retail releases, so it is easier to dismiss everything that doesn't fit in that category? I just find it ridiculous when people come up with an arbitrary standard or context just to make a point and I feel this is the case here. If one would factor in everything that will be released, there would hardly be any drought to talk about, but if one only takes notable first party retail releases then there is something to talk about.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn
