Topic: Looks we have another Nintendo drought until late September for the Wii U

Mario Kart 8 came out not that long ago. People will be playing that for quite a while.
A trillion Indie games are coming out withing the next year.
You already mentioned Wii Sports Club, which even if you aren't interested in, others may be.
When we get to the end of this "drought," as you say, I do believe one major Wii U game (Hyrule Warriors) and one major 3DS game (Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS) are coming out a week apart from each other.
It's summer, and some people may actually like, be outside.
In summer, people can catch up on games they missed and stock up some money from summer jobs and the like for later in the year.

Don't really see the point of this thread. "Drought" would imply a very long period in which there are no good games coming out when clearly there are, and even if it's slightly lower than what it will be later this year and next year it hardly signifies a drought.

Why is it people expect Nintendo to have a major release every month but Sony and Microsoft don't have to? Sony and Microsoft have 3rd Party support which helps those empty months but those companies are still not expected to have major releases. The next Microsoft game release is September but no one is complaining about that. If Nintendo releases are all that matter on Wii U then shouldn't Microsoft releases be all that matter on Xbox One?

Plus soon Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is coming out on Wii U. So how does 1st party only matter on Wii U and not any other consoles.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Another "gamers are entitled to receive X" thread; for such a sedentary hobby people can't relax.

IMO, we don't know yet if Nintendo will release more during the summer. Pushmo World that's released next week was announced by Nintendo at the end of May this year. In the Treehouse Live interviews with Reggie at E3, he often referred to games as "content", which to me could for example mean that Nintendo could plan DLC during periods with no new game releases. If the DLC is of the same quality as the original games, I would gladly pay for more battle courses in Pikmin 3 or more cups in Mario Kart 8 or more worlds in Mario 3D World, for example.

I don't even care that the wii u is feces until this fall. The 2015 lineup and late 2014 lineup are the greatest lineups in gaming history or at least for me so far.

I also believe we have One Piece Unlimited World Red in July

EDIT: Just found out it may only be an eShop release for Wii U and those don't count on this list for some reason

For what its worth they didn't mention virtual console or gamecube HD remakes once at E3. Perhaps they have some of that stuff up their sleeves for release in between the major games.

Meanwhile, Sony and Xbox rave on an on about their indies, so Nintendo should be allowed to rave about theirs - Indies should count.

copy/paste from other thread:

These threads are ridiculous. How big is your backlog? Have you brought and played The Wonderful 101, Zombi U, Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends? If the answer to those is "massive" and/or "well only.." then do I have a drought busting solution for you! And for new owners who just got this for Kart? Because that's a thing and a half. Add Nintendo Land, 3D World, Wind Waker HD and DKC:TF to that list. It's just over a couple of months to fill. The sky isn't going to fall in.

For people who have burnt through their backlog and have brought all the games. Well that's a lot of games man. Why not go outside for a bit or something? Help someone put up a rock wall, dig a trench, plant some trees or something? Why not arm yourself with a list of top rated albums of all time, some headphones and Spotify? Chew through a week and get some culture while you're at it. Why not find some games on some other platform? Because that's quite a chunk of games.

This is my take on upcoming games until Christmas, excluding all indies:

Just Dance
Watch Dogs
Project Cars
Sonic Boom
Lego Batman 3
Skylanders
Disney Infinity 2
Pac Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2

One Piece World Unlimited Red
Wii Sports Club
Pushmo World
Hyrule Warriors
Bayonetta 1 & 2
Art Acadamy
Captain Toads Treasuer Hunt
Super Smash Bros

Add in indies and VC, and as Skywake adds, what about the backlogs as well.

I don't see too much of a problem here. Okay, not all are to everyones taste, but its hardly barren.

I am going to be backlogging so hard. I have No More Heroes 1+2, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid: Other M, Pandora's Tower, Xenoblade Chronicles, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Assassin's Creed 4, and many more. I am more than happy with my Wii U. I have said it hundreds of times and will continue to say it: Backwards Compatibility may not matter to some, but it is a very underrated and extremely useful feature for any console.I it is the main reason I have not gotten a PS Vita and a PS4 yet. If I could play my Kingdom Hearts games on them then I would have them by now.

I need to do some of that stuff this summer. I thought summer classes would be a good idea, but now I am swamped with work and school. I want to play games and do something outside... I can't coast through 10+ games on the weekends, especially because I have a research paper to do...

How many games do you need? I have 30 retail and 20 eShop games. So, draught, yeah, I won't be buying many new games, but I have plenty to do on the system. And I have a 3ds.

I will say, you people better hope that stuff like Gunman Clive and Steamworld Dig isn't a fluke for indies on Nintendo.

It probably isn't a fluke but still...

While I do agree on points about buying available games or completing backlogs, (something I shall be doing) it isn't summer everywhere in the world. There's no way I want to voluntarily go outside for the next 3 months. I'm already cold just sitting here typing this.

To be fair, the average Australian "cold day in winter" isn't that cold. I mean I'm all "wow, it's really cold and gloomy outside. 17C (62F) MAX, 4C (40F) MIN, 4% humidity, no wind, full sun and absolutely no chance of rain. I'm staying inside because that's just too cold to go out". The rest of the world is looking at those numbers and thinking "dude, that's pretty mild"

The OP was concerned about Nintendo's own releases on the Wii U, not indies released on 3DS. If Wii U indies would be the concern, titles such as Scram Kitty would be a better example IMO, or referring to this thread for future stuff:
