I understand there's a forum (But) I read that Ubisoft is holding off there games on Wii U until it gets popular. & when I read that I bursted out laughing...Because in all serious I love Nintendo in all but the console won't be as popular with (Some) consumers. If they we're smart enough too think and say. "Hey If we put out one of our games for Wii U maybe it will get popular."

That was a stupid excuse.

Edit: No, in seriousness though, this thread will not end well. Haven't we seen enough "Blame third party X for such and such Y" on these boards?

Try again when Ubisoft gets voted 'Worst Company in America' two years in a row.

They did the same thing with Rayman and with Watch_Dogs. Ubisofts higher ups live in their very own universe with its own idiotic rules.
I can understand that a dev / publisher sais that the WIiU is not a prime target atm because of said reasons, but developing and finishing a game, just to "hold it off till sales improve" instead of releasing it to the exactly that is beyond me.
What it tells me is, that they see their own product as "not a console seller by a long shot" and are fearing to be blamed by the mainstream media for "supporting a sinking ship"
The funniest thing is, it kinda works. They get praised for their honesty. Seriously, being stupid and admitting it doesnt make you less stupid.
But such a behavior seems to be the trademark of this generation. Microsoft did a 180 with their consumer rip off policy and gets praised for it instead of the deserved distrust because they actually attempted such an atrocity.
Sony gets praise for last years E3 by doing absolutely nothing. All they did was not doing what microsoft was doing at the time.
"Luigi wins at Mario Party by doing absolutely nothing" on a whole new level.
Hating on Nintendo is an "in" thing among devs at the moment, we have to live with that.

@Einherjar
It's not stupidity, it's common business sense. Whether you want to admit it or not, the PS4 and XB1 are only a few months out the gate and already have an install base larger than Nintendo's. A significant portion of a game's sales comes within the first month or few after release - by waiting for the install base to increase, the potential profit for a game increases significantly.

Assuming that MK8 + Smash Bros in a few months at least doubles the currently install base for the Wii U, waiting until then to release further titles isn't stupidity, it's common sense. That doesn't mean it doesn't suck for current Wii U owners in the meantime, however.

Except that Xbox One hasn't outsold Wii U.

I think Wii U sales made up only 3% of their sales last year so I can't really blame them from a business standpoint. But like I said in another thread, they shouldnt have mentioned the games at all until they were ready to actually announce them.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

@Dreamz Your right, yes. Of cause its more beneficial to trowh your game into a bigger pool of customers. But youre also facing more competitors.
What i think is stupid about this is the official public statement. You could say its a warning shot towards nintendo, but in reality, its more like a shrapnell granade. This could, will, has backfired in all directions.
Like you said, business wise, its a beneficial move to hold the release for a while, but tooting it out into the public like that hurt themselfes and nintendo, achieving the exact opposite,

That's only true globally due to the fact that the XB1 doesn't launch in Japan until September. If you remove Japan from the totals, both the PS4 and XB1 are ahead of the Wii U by a non-trivial amount, despite the fact that the Wii U had a year's head start on both.

Lets say that had launched November last year rather than Nintendo this year with this game. Sure in all likelyhood they would have at least about 2x as many Wii U owners to sell to. Cool, that's good. But if I was a publisher I think I'd rather my third party Wii U game sitting next to The Wonderful 101 and Rayman Legends rather than X and Bayonetta 2. Plus I would kinda wish that my game had come out before Mario Kart and Smash....

What are you talking about. Microsoft performs horribly in Japan and Nintendo tends to do the best in Japan. Plus the PS4 is out in Japan already. So excluding Japan makes the comparison entirely meaningless.

Just because Ubisoft held back a game which is probably a new Rabbids game (nobody cares) in all honesty doesn't make them a terrible company although it is a jerk move.
EA was bad because they promised full support and all their amazing games would come to the wiiu but then only made two crappy ports of old games and badmouthed Nintendo publicly before burning that bridge for good.

if i saw how many wiiu's got sold when Mario Kart came out then I too would wait until Smash hits before I release my game. Morals of business aside, Ubisoft's already making games to make you happy. So the game's coming out a little later. At this point, it doesn't really change much anyway.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Seems like sound business sense to me the attach rate for 3rd party games on Wii U is rubbish compared to PS4 and Xbox One.

The situations are different, though. 3rd parties didn't treat the Wii U launch the same as Xbox One and PS4. If that effected Wii U sales, then it's 3rd parties fault, but I don't think anyone should, or does care.

EA's NFS game on the Wii U was not a crappy port.

I think most Wii U owners just arent interested in their games.

Ya, I'm not surprised that people refused to buy a gimped port of Madden, either.

It was still an older game. A port is a port, regardless. 3rd parties didn't release much of anything new in terms of generational differences. If CoD Black Ops II would have been 8th gen on Wii U, people probably would have cared more.
