Topic: Is anyone playing their Wii U less and less?

I used to play all the time but honestly only would ever really play Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and Splatoon online because I live alone. Now I find myself barely playing, even after downloading Super Mario RPG which I've been waiting forever for. I barely started Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze despite having it from the time I bought the Wii U about a year and a half ago. I still have never played Bayonetta 2 or Monster Hunter. I am looking forward somewhat to Stardew Valley and the new Zelda game but overall, I've lost my passion for the most part for the Wii U.

Am I alone here?

PS: it might not be a Wii U thing and just me not getting as into video games as I used to. I was super excited for the new Fire Emblem on the 3DS but most of the excitement was from just purchasing it because I didn't advance very far despite loving Fire Emblem Awakening.

Nope, still play it til the little red light starts blinking.

You might be feeling a bit burned out on games. Happens to me now and then.

I think it all depends on what you are currently doing.

I mostly just use it to watch YouTube.

It doesn't help that the game pads battery life is around... 15 minutes.

Between Overwatch and Pokemon Go my Wii U has been pretty neglected lately.

I've been using my Wii U a lot, barring last week since I was really busy IRL. I only just bought mine last summer, but between retail titles and the eshop, I have enough to keep myself busy on it for a while.

Plus, Breath of the Wild isn't even here yet, and I still haven't picked up XCX....

It does sound like you may be experiencing a form of gaming burnout. It probably wouldn't hurt to focus on a different hobby or pastime for a little while. I took about a month off of games last year and focused on other things since gaming was more like a chore during that time; I didn't really feel like playing anything.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey

For a good while I had neglected my WiiU partly because the gamepad was broken. Now it's fixed, my 3DS is broken and I recently bought Devil's Third and Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush on sale, so my WiiU is finally getting some attention.
My 3DS has seen more playtime than the WiiU all year to be honest, thanks to SMTIV, YW and NBA.
Pokemon Go doesn't help either.

You're not alone when it comes to not starting Bayonetta 2 either.

Last summer I enjoyed a lot of Splatoon and I played a bit of Mario Maker, but I barely touched the Wii U after that. I played through Star Fox and played a ton of Pokkén. It doesn't help that we're in another big drought, although this one doesn't seem to end. I'm getting at least one or more new games for my PS4 every month, so I find myself playing that more than the Wii U.

I am going through all the Zelda games. I am hoping Skyward Sword comes out on VC at some point (it's the only one I haven't played.). I must say, playing the Ocarina with the right stick feels clumsy and not nearly half as authentic as the c-buttons on the N64 pad. Just goes to show how closely Nintendo games are developed with their hardware (so quit telling them to go third party!)

I've found that about Wii U and 3DS. With Nintendo pretty much abandoning both systems and lots of great things happening on the XB1 front my usage of Nintendo systems have been decreasing of which it's currently about ~20 hours per month when for most of the great year for Nintendo (May 2014 to May 2015) over 100 hours per month was the norm for Wii U.

My partner and I have been playing terraria co-op on the wiiu just about everyday. I just got an old master system and I've been fooling around with it when I'm not using the wiiu.

No. I'm now playing some games that I heard were very good and kept them aside from launch. Currently playing Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition and it's fantastic.

If anything, since I got a Pro Controller, my Wife and I have been playing more and more. Outside of Pokemon Y and Starcraft 2 my New 3DS XL and PC have neglected. My phone is also getting more time, but that hasn't taken away from my other gaming time.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Ya it's that way for me. Heck, I'm back playing Matio Kart 7 which I don't like as much as 8 but I've lost all enthusiasm turning the Wii U on.

The console doesn't feel fresh aside from a lack of major games. When 3DS got wallpaper it definitely spruced it up. I hate seeing that wara wara plaza since 2012.

All in all I'm in the same holding status for NX as Nintendo. Directly proportional and that's no surprise. Wii U dead to them, dead to me, I guess

Mine is getting good use at the minute. Jumping from game to game on vGamecube and vWii too, but was getting back into Art Academy Atelier last night having finally sorted out some hdd space for it.

I have a lot of physical Wii U games that I've been looking forward to playing properly but have yet to get into, but much more down to my current lifestyle than any issue with the games or the console.

The only real disappointments I've had with my Wii U have been connection issues with Splatoon and a lack of players online for Wii Sports Club.

I'd be quite happy with my Wii U library alone, forgetting my Wii and GameCube backlog, for another 3 years at least I reckon. But I have been trying to catch up on 30 years of missed console gaming, which might explain it a bit. But if Nintendo had never mentioned NX (and it doesn't seem like it was particularly necessary to) I wouldn't be bothered by the drought at all - so many great games to play. The only thing i do miss is the hype.

@Octane Honestly with the exception of Zelda I don't see this draught ending. The Wii U didn't do what Nintendo hoped for sales wise, and the Wii U is pretty much at the end of its life span (It did come out in 2012). Nintendo is ready to unveil the NX and honestly the only reason I feel they are releasing Zelda on the Wii U is for PR reasons. Maybe some VC games may come for it but I think we are done getting games for it.

That being said I havent touched mine in about a year, I have even thought about selling it the only thing that has stopped me is Zelda. In truth the Wii U is probably my least played Nintendo console.

It had a lot of potential but Nintendo just dropped the ball with the Wii U.

@Tasuki Yeah I agree. I plan on getting Paper Mario though, and Zelda of course, but apart from those games there's nothing else left.
