Topic: I finally bought a Wii U console!!!!!

Until you realize the PS4 has zero games worth owning the console for, charges for online features, requires a Vita (+ strong internet connection) to utilize it's best (though flawed) feature, and has (in at least my own long history with PS systems) the least durable line of controllers among console manufacturers.

Coming from an impoverished, fatherless childhood, and as a father myself, I certainly feel that the Wii U is one of the best gaming investments for families on a limited budget. The only downside is a lack of new/future expensive retail games, but who cares when all the older third-party games can be found at under half-price and the cheap back catalog of compatible eShop, Wii, VC, and WiiWare games is extensive. Plus, a variety of durable, compatible controllers can be found quite cheaply (if you don't already have a drawer full of Wiimotes, Nunchuks, and Classic Controllers). And the Off-screen functions (both solo and multi) are indispensable to such a family.

Which country? I'm just curious.

To me, any hardware Nintendo puts out is worth the purchase. Doesn't matter if it happens to be a struggling system at the moment, you just can't go wrong with the exclusives. And you know theres more great games on the way. My favorite WiiU game so far is DKTF. So I'd recomnd that and getting a pro controller.

Name one. As in one game you feel confident will endure as a classic or cult favorite or even forgotten gem from the past few years. The exclusives are sad and the third party lineup is no better than solidly decent to this point. I've played nearly every game available, from my perspective the games are not impressive on any extraordinary level... Every PS4 I know of (even my loaner) is currently boxed up or collecting dust.

Not out of the ordinary for a launch console, but the PS4 is notably lacking in exceptional, enduring games. No doubt I would be doing my family a disservice with a heavy launch period investment.

Call it bashing, but we are at least supporting our opinions with words (respectfully, even) rather than dropping a weak quip before bailing. We are stating our opinions, you don't have to like them, right? What you are doing comes off as a sort of reverse-logic, passive aggressive form of tedious fanboyism. Argue with us if you must, but nobody here deserves to be carelessly patronized. Can we agree on that?

What does that mean? I don't think I said there were zero games worth owning, I said they didn't have their heavy hitters, their killer apps on the market. Stop referring to me as a PS4 hater, I was on the hunt for information

To be clear, I never said there are no games worth owning, either. That was a clumsy way of saying there are no system-sellers, on any significant level, in the PS4 lineup. Plenty of games worth nabbing for less than half-price in a year or so, when the system will likely have some "killer-apps", but nothing that should force anybody to dramatically their alter entertainment arraignment and invest a substantial sum to enhance a gaming lifestyle.

I'm not sure I can argue with you, unfortunately. The impartial views shining from your beacon of wisdom are beyond my understanding.

I see you are beyond opinions, but if you read my words, you would have probably realized how embarrassingly this post supports my assertions. Those six quoted words were a plea to bring something of value to the discussion before making straight up elitist remarks with bad intentions.

I'm not the one that brought up the PS4, I was merely challenging the notion that the PS4 has more intrinsic and obvious value than a Wii U (particularly to a family such as the OP). Nothing wrong with that. I asked you to name a game that you feel contradicts my opinion in place of such pointless patronizing. You refused.

What are we here for again? I thought it was to talk some videogames. You know, give a little advice, speculate about worthless info, and generally share our unsolicited, unwanted opinions.

Oh man, I would love to take part in a friendly debate with the unbiased intellectuals on this site, but as we established earlier in the thread, PS4 owners are dumb and therefore not capable of such discussion. Thankfully Wii U owners are mature and secure enough not to result to such silly attacks.

As for the system-selling PS4 game, how could you expect me to name one? You said there isn't one, surely you weren't lying to me. You seem too honest and good of a man to lie to a fellow member on this site, so I trust your guidance on this one. People tried telling me Infamous doubled PS4 sales in the UK, but I'll agree that that's not a discernible amount. And what is the UK anyways? A few little countries? I wouldn't even count that, and I'm sure the NPD will validate your belief about U.S. sales.

So I am with you my brother. If you say there are no system-sellers on the PS4 and the Wii U provides infinitely more value in just about every aspect, who am I to disagree? By the time that little brain of mine - the same that thought a PS4 was worth a purchase - wrapped my head around a somewhat cohesive argument, the PS5 will likely be launching and then I'll have to start all over again. : (

Fair call. However in the great land of Aus a PS4 with no games is $550AU and a premium Wii U with New SMB U + Luigi and FIFA is $430AU. The most expensive console is the XBOne which can be found with a copy ot Titanfall for $600AU. So even the premium Wii U compares pretty favourably on price. The basic bundle is almost as cheap as most of the previous generation bundles.

Yeah, you have got to be incredibly stupid to drop $550 on a PS4 with a couple of dumbo shooters and a repetitive cutscene fest (Infamous) so I will hold off for a massive price drop... Also Sony need to sort out that inevitable Blue Light Of Doom that will happen in a years time

It's basically a good 2/3rds of the way, maybe more, to a fairly decent gaming PC.

Says the guy who apparently got successfully trolled by a quip from post six, but doesn't realise it. This is a Wii U board so frankly I cannot understand why anyone would bother to attack or defend an irrelevance like PS4.
