I want to play a good RPG, but one with a great story. I also want to be able to save
So...any suggestions?

A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.

Chrono Trigger is a good start.
Although, dragon might say to look at Mickeymac's Universal Recommendations Thread. I have a feeling.

Depends on how retro you want to get

For one Id say FFIV has a rather good story. But I personally am not in love with he game (or any other FF game). But it is very liked among many people, so you might like it as well.

Chrono Trigger is an OK start if your not very into RPGs, but I really dont like the story. But then again, many people say it is the best game ever, so you might fit in there.

Well, we'll see how far we get then
Anyway, I might try out Chrono Trigger, but I don't want any Final Fantasy unless the ones in the PS era were good. I'm looking at anything from Playstation back, but not as far back as to lack a save feature.

Oh, and how is the story in the games in the Terranigma series (whatever the series is called), and should I play them in order, or is the first one (or two) not very good.

In Chrono Trigger, not only can you save by standing atop a sparkly light, but you can also save anywhere in the Overworld map. Same goes for Final Fantasy III/VI.

Alright, I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere for a good price, I wouldn't mind some other options though

I'm picking up a new super nintendo soon. It's got me excited because I gave mine away when I got my N64. I really wish I hadn't...
But I can easily get my hands on most other consoles, depending if there are enough/good enough games on it. I also have a Wii

You're getting an SNES?

I recommend Arcana and SoulBlazer, two of the many greatest RPGs of all time, that are both SNES-exclusive.

Ys Book I & II
Nine American dollars well spent.

@NotEnoughGolds - Ys Book I & II is 800 Wii Points on the NA Virtual Console. It would be 900 if you lived in Europe. Not that I'm complaining, as it's a good RPG.

Got that one on my Wii a while ago, it was a lot of fun. I'll have to check out Arcana and Soulblazer.

Arcana is an obscure, first-person RPG that plays like a traditional turn-based RPG. It's very fun.

Chrono Trigger
Shining Force
Phantasy Star IV
Super Mario RPG
Final Fantasy

All are great RPG's you should check out.

What he said.

What they said. You might have trouble finding an original SNES copy, however, as the game is quite popular among RPG fans.

I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am.

Chrono Trigger is also available on the PSX Final Fantasy Chronicles package, and there's a DS port.

Why must video games and their systems cost so much money!

If you find FFVI for SNES or GBA, definitely get that. Its pure awesomeness.
