Topic: Reggie... You Betrayed Us Again... (EB on VC)

Thank you, Mr. NOA. Once again, you have made me cry tears of RAGE. How could you betray us again? First with MOTHER (which wasn't his doing, but NOA's in general) then with MOTHER 3, and now EarthBound is a no-show on English VC. Da HELL, man?!

It can't be released due to legal reasons. Reggie can't do anything about it.

Wait, when did Reggie promise he would personally bring Earthbound to the VC and why is it so important?

Jamouse, they were able to pull it off last month in Japan. Also, EarthBound is a game with a famous cult following, and it deserves more love from NOA than it gets, morphtroid.

It never came out for the Wii VC in Japan either. Last month on the Wii U VC is the first time they got it on VC in Japan. I wouldn't hold your breath, but I think that is a good sign that we might get it eventually.

Well, last time I heard, Japan had different copyright ruley-thingies than America and people in this side of the world are more sue-happy than there, so... Idk.

The reason we haven't got it yet is because the creators aren't allowing it to be changed so it can be re released over here.

These copyright shanannigans are really hurting the preservation of old games. It really is a pity that they cant get teir stuff together and make the game available agin. Cartridges tend to die after many years, but a digital download would make it a reliable source without stuff like dieing backup batterys and working, century old consoles.

I also have not heard Nintendo comment officially about any copyright issues holding the game back from being re-released. Don't all the Animal Crossing games have songs that sound similar to Johnny B. Goode as well?

KK Slider can do whatever he wants. Copyright laws don't affect him.

And I'm sure Reggie is preventing the game in Europe as well! How dare he not give them ANY version of the game at all!

It has a cult following, yes, but that hardly makes it the most important thing that needs to come to the VC.

It's like Earthbound is the pinnacle of gaming or something. It's not regardless of quality.

If you really wanted to play Earthbound, you'd buy a SNES and the original cartridge.

And about the game itself. Earthbound is awesome, don't get me wrong, but there are other games. I personally wouldn't hold my breath for this to come out to vc.
