Toy Commander is a good reason to own one, since it was Dreamcast exclusive and isn't on XBLA or PSN. It's a game where you control little toys and complete missions, and the multiplayer can be some fun.

So you can feel cool when you flip up your collar and tell people "Yeah, i have a Dreamcast." Or maybe that's just me.
There's also plenty of great games for the system that i'm sure other people can point out better than I can. It obviously depends on where you are in terms of getting systems for nostalgia or collection purposes, or solely for the games available. Overall, if you've got the spare cash, it's a nice system to have and you can usually find one for pretty cheap nowadays.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

Sonic Adventure is also available on GameCube (and therefore Wii) and XBL, and the even better Sonic Adventure 2 is also on GameCube, so those don't count as recommendations for getting a Dreamcast.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Dreamcast is definitely worth owning, especially as it's so cheap these days for both the machine and the games. There are some amazing games for it — just look at Mickeymac's list! — and it's one of the best machines ever.
Get Metropolis Street Racer and a steering wheel and you'll live in gaming heaven for ever.
Oh god - I can't believe someone has just asked this! As someone said above "Dreamcast is the best console ever made!".
Seriously, it is an amazing machine - don't be put off by the fact you can find a lot of its games on other consoles these days. The Dreamcast was way ahead of its time (look at the likes of Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive 2 etc - these games were competing with the PS1!) but there are lots of unique and original titles. I wont go into them all as there's so many, but there are tons of arcade perfect ports (better in most cases), it's one of the best machines for fighting games, some very original titles and some say it was Sega's best era of games. It did so many things first and, if you didn't have one back in the day, you definately missed out - it's not far off the power of the Wii and it came out in the 1990's, a true classic machine.
Edit: Oh and Mickeymac - you missed off Rez, Daytona USA, Ikaruga, Street Fighter 3, MvC2 .... oh so many. Also it's sad you didn't get Headhunter, Shenmue 2 and Fighting Vipers 2 in the US ... I wonder why the Dreamcast lasted a little longer over here.

I still have mines, unfortunately my brother lost the power cord and I used my PS2 one but since I sold that, yeah, can't play it anymore
Anyways, we got ours in 2000 (I believe) and when I started playing it last year I had a blast with my games, which were:
Power Stone 2 (our favorite) Sonic Adventure Jet Grind Radio (kind of broken) Space Channel 5 (broken during the final levels) Toy Commander Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (broken making half the roster unplayable) Gauntlet Legends Crazy Taxi 1 & 2 (I was so much better at 2) Grandia 2
And the lesser but still fun games: Pen Pen TriICElon (breaks your A button) Quake 3 Arena Namco Museum Worms World Party
We had Soul Calibur but my grandma broke it I think no more than a year after we got it
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/830/ecp00032.jpg/ I have a few other games with it they just aren't in the picture. But i love the Dreamcast. Its a system i think thats top notch even though the PS2 was better I still think if Sega had dvd features it would have stood a good chance. Not to mention some pretty awesome sonic games, and a few good shmups that came to US.

Wait, your grandma broke Soul Calibur? What did she do, use it to write down words on whilst watching Countdown? Your family sure seems like it likes to break things...
(One off-fact was that I saw a Dreamcast in the Dominican Republic on sale in a "mainstream mall"! They do tend to sell old games that way... I am going to the Dominican Republic again in July. Maybe I would buy that console there....)
By the way, the reasons why I initially thought that there is no point towards the Dreamcast were that the Dreamcast lost support (I still remember going into a super-market and seeing a magazine cover that had the Dreamcast lost in sand. I do not know what the magavzine meant by "dropping support"...), thus no new games coming for the system would be worth the trouble for "just another console to take space in the house." Of course, my GameBoy Micro and Classic Controller were both semi-impulsive buys (both being that I did not see much point in getting them), but I never regretted my buys! Maybe the Dreamcast would be the same way...
Ah, thanks for that. I honestly couldn't find it when I searched for it, and the majority of my Watch List were unwatched during the last site maintenance.
@Mickeymac: ah, np then — sorry, i hate it when people assume things were deleted when they actually weren't, lol. if ever you can't find something, i'm usually in chat and i can track stuff down for you (or tell you what happened to it) if you need help. :3
