So the VGA:s are coming up. I know it's not very liked fora lot of gamers, but i'm personally going to check it out just to se if it's really that bad. Would be more fun if the whole thing was actually voted by gamers. Oh well, at least heir Wii/Wii U nomenes are great picks.

The problem I have is if its the VGA's I am thinking of is that they put smartphone games in the same category as 3DS games. IMO smartphones should have their own category rather than being included with handheld systems. Its kinda lame when a game like Angry Birds wins over SM3DL. or vice versa.

Both are handheld. No need to put them seperate. The only people who wants that are those who are insecure about current handhelds becoming niche in the western markets.

Nope sorry I dont consider them the same thing, and yes I am very secure and really dont care about the western market. To me it makes about as much sense as putting together home consoles and handhelds in the same category.

There are a ton of full fledged games on ios yet the tradtional gaming fanbase only looks at the angry birds of the world.

Eh I was playing illomilo+ and Hurrcaine thunder on my windows 8 tablet. Those are probably more full fleged games seeing as their console ports. The same with say the walking dead which is a console and ios game.

The point is kind of moot as no mobile games were nominated.

So far, the only thing that's interested me so far is Dark Souls II and the possibility of a new Metal Gear ARG. Hoping for some more new world premieres.

Like I don't get why this continues, I think they get like .4 ratings or something. Gaming is the most successful industry nowadays and this is our award show. .4. That's pathetic.

If not, that's just downright pathetic.

Considering the show airs on a Friday night, on SpikeTV, a .4, while not great, is not as atrocious as you might think. When it comes to cable stations like Spike, a .8 to 1.0 is considered excellent. I agree they should do better than a .4 (and we'll see what this year's show draws), but when you also factor in the fact that the show this year is airing online and on XBL, that's obviously going to cut into ratings shares. Also, of course, ratings aren't exactly a real accurate picture of the viewing audience given the way they're calculated.

That said, i enjoyed the show. Fun, and the premiere trailers were sweet. The Walking Dead winning Game of the Year surprised me, but was totally deserved.

"The Phantom Pain" was announced by a new unknown developer. It's believed that it's just a fake name and the trailer is a viral video for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

• The protagonist looks very similar to Big Boss
• The Ground Zeroes trailer mentions that two "phantoms" were born from FOX.
• One character in the trailer looks very similar to Volgin from MGS3.
• The company was founded by "Joakim Mogren", and "Joakim is an anagram to "Kojima".

So we basically have no idea what's going on. All the trailer uploads are being taken down from YouTube.

For a channel like Spike these are decent ratings and they get good streaming traffic. That and like they said its being watched enough to trend on twitter.

I can understand why the stick up the ass gamer wouldn't like it. That's why we have the Baftas.

Its just pure simple fun of the best kind.

Also it looks fun as hell to be their in person. Dude Phil Spencer from microsoft and the Composer to Jounrey were drunk as hell.Jessica Alba was clearly high.

I know most gamers have this obsession with having gaming as an Art form Validated. But this clearly isn't the venue for it as this is comparable to the MTV movie and music video awards.

And like those shows if your watching the awards you **** out of luck. Most of the awards were given out before the actual show during the preshow.

You should be expecting Alison Halsip to insuinate having a threesome with Jennifer Hale and the voice actress of Laria from mass effect. You should be ecpecting future sam jackson to kick opena door and vaporize CliffyB.

The Awards were pretty on the nose. Clamptrap was a suprise but Journy was obvious going to win inde of the year.

And spike basicly pandered the crap out of the walking dead. I do think it deserved to win (its my goty) but every other word of the preshoe was the walking dead and one has to wonder were they trying to ride the coatials ofbthe show and comic.

So, the one new IP shown at the VGAs may just be a teaser for a Metal.... And to make the pain a bit harder to bear, this would be coming from Kojima, who recently went on record to say that he wants to be recognized for things other than Metal Gear.

I highly doubt any of that is related to Metal Gear. The protagonist isn't built like Naked, nor are any of the events of the trailer, mentioned in Metal Gear titles after.

But you never know. The voices didn't sound familiar whatsoever but that could be changed in the future. That all could be taken placed around the time Big Boss was in a coma and Zero stole his DNA.
