My favorite part of the show was The Walking Dead taking Game of the Year. I still think Halo 4 is the real GOTY but it's also a franchise that doesn't need awards to get recognition, so in that sense I'm thrilled The Walking Dead won and it was easily the best game on the list. Dishonored and Journey are good and I really enjoyed Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 as well but TWD had an excellent story, a great choice/consequence system, fun ways to go about getting past obstacles to advance the story. I had a great time playing it and was really pulled in by the characters. Hopefully this award and the upcoming retail release help its audience grow even more as this really is an absolute must-play game. I love it and I'm not even a fan of the franchise. I haven't seen the tv show or read the comics, I took a risk and bought the season pass for PS3 based off feedback from friends and people here and at Push Square and I'm glad I did.
People who put their heart and soul on providing ground breaking experiences ( like Journey, Fez and Borderlands 2), aren't rewarded for their hard work for thinking outside the box but rather an interactive point and click mediocre parade is.

MOVING ON: Overall, I'm surprised with the list of winners for this year's VGA. While there were some predictable games (see; Best RPG being Mass Effect 3, Best Xbox Game being Halo 4, and Most Anticipated Game being Grand Theft Auto V), there are a good handful of standouts. It's great to see Borderlands 2 being recognized and I especially like how Dishonored was able to snag itself one award. I'm also surprised by Persona 4 Arena snagging the best fighting game award, even if it was a strong contender in a weak year for the genre.

Eh, just for being a zombie story that doesn't suck Walking Dead gets all the praise it wants as far as I'm concerned.
I like these threads. "My favourite game didn't win therefore the show is irrelevant/ wrong"
This is the only problem the Spike TV Video Games Awards have obviously.
I will seriously give them props for giving a downloadable title adventure game GOTY. That's certainly above what I expected. Maybe in like 5 years this will actually be something worth watching.
