Update on my laptop: the motherboard is somehow fried and Toshiba won't replace it due to an expired warranty. Guess I'll have to get my stuff off the hard drive and find another computer
@Oddy I believe that the game doesn't officially support gamepad control, but there are some work-arounds and unofficial patches that fix that. Although personally I don't see why anyone would want it, as Terraria is a very mouse-heavy game and playing it with a gamepad would involve combining the controls of a twin-stick shooter and a multi-weapon platformer.

Well I came to the conclusion that I can sell what's left of my laptop for a little money (about $200 or less). In the meantime, I'll look for a desktop to start upgrading. Feel free to make some suggestions as to building a new computer. Goodbye Christmas PS3
